Hi, Bungie. This is a Korean user who eager to play your games and content.
However, in the Korean community of destiny guardians, they are feeling uncomfortable using the word 'Kamikaze' without any historical perspective about the word.
Kamikaze was an army who suicide keeping bombs inside their bodies. They were brainwashed to blindly follow the order and kill themselves. Moreover, many Koreans were 'used' and 'exploited' to be a member of Kamikaze. This corresponds to historical misdeeds and tragedies.
And what Bungie did was making Ana, who is presumed to be a Korean descent to say the word 'Kamikaze'. This is no different from showing the historical ignorance of Bungie.
I know that Bungie has a lot of Destiny users spread in the global world. To make the game that anyone from any country can enjoy without feeling uncomfortable, you should fix and say sorry officially to the users.
I hope you give us a feedback and correction about it.
Also, any derogatory or cursing words will be noticed to Bungie.

Sit down. Have some coffee. Put away the crack pipe. Its a military tactic from World War 2. Chill.

1 ReplyKamikaze is a tactic the Japanese used in ww2 where a pilot would fly there plane into the enemie with the pilot still inside, the cabal are flying the almighty into there enemies while still inside it... I think the comparison is pretty close

I would like to know how you came to the conclusion that you speak for the entire Korean community. It seems to me that the logic behind your argument could be connected to literally anything that offends you personally, for instance I have ancestors who fought in the Korean war, North Korea committed numerous atrocities in said war therefore I find the word Korea offensive and China has been commiting human atrocities against the Tibetan people for decades maybe we should never mention China again either. An exagerated example? Yes, but I think it makes the point. Any person who is looking to be offended will aways find something to be offended over. Save your offense for the many many things you will likely come across in your lifetime that deserves it, this is NOT one of those things.

Also, any derogatory or cursing words will be noticed to Bungie.
Gonna cry?

I"m offended that you "presume" Ana is Korean, how dare you assume anything about her. It's this kind of sensitivity that is going to make this world unlivable.
-
So mentioning any violent part about history is offensive, eh? Then let’s just delete every history textbook ever.
-
You've got your way, Dylan said they won't do it again. So thanks for making future story lines weaker.

Those that forget history often repeat it.

My great great grandfather fought for germany in WW2. He was demoted and died from illness during the war because he didn't want to commit war crimes on behalf of the -godwinslaw!-. I'm not sensitive about the word "naz!" grow up

1 ReplyWas 9/11 kamikaze?
-
Didn't Kamikaze originate from a 13th Century typhoon that wiped out the invading M o n g ol ships? Kamikaze in WW2 was a misinterpretation by the West and eventually adopted by Japan itself as the misinterpretation was so widely accepted as an accurate translation by the rest of the world? Given the big ass ship heading towards Earth is the "Almighty", surely describing it as a "Giant *Divine Wind* (usual translation) or *God Wind* (literal translation) Ship", is actually pretty accurate?
-
it is a combat tactic used to this day. do you need a safe zone? teddy bear and a pillow maybe? wow. don't mean to be too harsh but boy people can get upset about stuff. if the word kamikaze triggers you maybe you shouldn't be playing games where you shoot/kill aliens and other guardians.

6 RepliesThe word Kamikaze is a military tactic that was employed by the Japanese, I do not believe that the word itself is derogatory or offensive in any way. It can be a trigger word for those with personal issues with it, but Bungie is not going to remove it. I personally believe that they could have chose a better word to use, but I digress. If it is so offensive or is triggering you or others, just try and stay away from Ana Bae for awhile until next season when they delete the dialogue. Have a nice day!

Reported for being a weirdo

A lot of actual hate speech being allowed by the ninjas I see.
-
This would make at least some sense if they weren't LITERALLY PERFORMING A KAMIKAZE ATTACK RIGHT NOW. But since they are doing exactly what was described, I'm going to need to ask you to get yo sensitive snowflake ass out of here.
-
Context matters. This post is disingenuous as it paints bungie as using the word in that context when in reality its a still used military tactic, and made popular by the Japanese in WWII. There's enough context shared to make the comparison and clearly does not mean what you said.

Grow up. Life doesn’t always go your way. Learn to take it and move on.

Edited by Ghostfire239: 5/15/2020 8:56:34 PMWhen did people become so damn sensitive? Just ignore it fam. Shouldn’t cursed thralls or screebs be offensive too?

Very imagination bait Kellogs. 10/10.

I kamikaze myself in Trials with my own Tripmines...not very fun getting killed by your own grenade by mistake

I'm gonna be reported to Bungie if I say -blam!-shit? Damn. Anyway, this is literally the tactic the Cabal are using on Earth. Crash it into Earth to cause as much damage as possible, with full intention to die in the attack.
