Can animals be revived as lightbearers?
I don't read lore and I don't know the answer, but I think it would be cool.

I assume you just mean dogs? Because they can be adequately trained to defend us and attack for us... what other animals (maybe some birds) would do anything other than attack you and crap in the woods?
