Question: why was Firefly changed into Dragon fly?

Dragon fly seems to be a lesser version of it and has a delay before going off.

  • The first legendary scout rifle I had in Destiny had firefly. I can't remember what it was called, it was just a code number.

    • Same reason it's singe and not BURN. To stop you becoming Legend.

    • I feel like the delay was put in solely to finally fix the bug that had the perk cause crashes

    • Even beyond that, because Dragonfly is arbitrarily tied to energy weapons and has 'replaced' Firefly, there's no equivalent perk on kinetic weapons. So if you liked Firefly in D1 and like using Fusion Rifles, of which there is also no kinetic option (Bastion doesn't count), then you can have one or the other... but not both. It's a bizarre and asinine neutering of the original perk that will always bug me

    • cause Firefly was fun so they neutered it, so now you kill the ad well before the effect does more

      • Because Bungie nerfed it, like they did everything between D1 to D2.

      • Cause Firefly is awesome and fun and bungie doesn't want d2 to be like that. We even had imago loop hand canon with firefly in Destiny. Sweet gun, so damn fun to use.

      • Because firefly was a kinetic perk. Dragonfly is an ellemental weapon perk.

        • Joss Whedon demanded it. True story. Don't look it up.

        • Probably because firefly used to make games crash, but everything was nerfed in D2 anyway.

        • Firefly was too much fun, D2 is not about fun.

        • It was a time of darkness... Entropy, Wall Street and bad upper Management turned everything as bland as unflavored oatmeal. There was the Mida meta because radar was a game altering feature. Then we trembled at the high cal meta, shaking us in our socks. All was torment... All was woe... ... We called it Vanilla D2.

        • I believe FireFly does arc damage and DragonFly does solar damage. And DragonFlys range isn’t as big without the spec mod. I could be wrong but I think this is accurate.

          • As someone playing D1 currently, firefly is broken as shit. I have it on a handcannon and the explosion damage is enough to kill multiple ads in close range. It’s not super bad in D1 because we actually had less ads per wave. But in D2 I’m pretty sure it could kill 5+ enemies at a time if they were close enough. In D1 it only get max effect from fighting thralls

            • I like the idea of an elemental firefly, but yeah: it way weaker and takes too long to procs
