Biweekly reminder that Iron Banner is the neglected garbage child of PvP.

This is supposed to be a PINNACLE ENDGAME ACTIVITY. Instead it’s a melange of poorly thought out mechanics (triple cap lockout is stupid), 2-year-old stale loot, same tired old mode (control ... again ... and again ... and again), and absolutely HORRENDOUS matchmaking. And as usual, silence from Bungie.

  • IB as is, is stupid glitchy. Randomly it will just stop giving progress. Just won a match and got 0 rewards, 0 bounty progression, and 0 Valor. This happens way too often. Cheating is still a HUGE issue on PC. Seriously Bungie, just can IB until you get these things fixed. Nothing like waisting your time for no progress.

  • The matchmaking is perfectly fine in ib you're just bad. Armour definitely needs a refresh Triple cap lockout is there so people actually have to capture to win instead of standard control where 99% of people don't bother capturing zones Stop complaining about everything in this game, I think iron banner is one of the very few things gameplay-wise that bungie have actually got right

      Turn off sbmm Add new weapons Add a freelance mode Allow tokens to be used without completing quest Remove power play mechanic IB fixed.

      • I feel.like stomped teams last night .that's neither here nor there I know. It's really not competative. Its lazy fin play for me as a solo player just to stack and complete bounties and farm xp...for really no reason. I found people are still auto rifle spamming and crouch walking and for some reason the last two days running solo i faced some of the worst clans to play pvp. Clans of high power fireteams should never get mercied Anyway. Enough of the observations. The mode needs a lot of tlc. And maybe retooling as a pinnacle activity. I'll be honest if not for clan fire teams it feels less competitive than quickplay control..of you can believe it.

      • IB Freelance, still waiting on that. Otherwise it's fine. There is the global PvP issues: OHK melees. Shotguns everywhere. Jotunns up to x6 Etc

      • I like IB, 3 cap system is a great difference to regular control. Just wish they brought back old IB guns and armour with random rolls.

        • I agree. Iron Banner used to be the place to go to get big bumps in your power. While this may still be the case with all the pinnacle bounties, my biggest complaint is why is there not any new armor. Also if we're going to do this whole "half medieval half samurai" thing, can we atleast make it look good? There has only been one piece of Iron Banner armor that I like and it's a Warlock helmet. Not to crap on the design artists, I realize armor appearance is subjective, but I feel like I'm not the only one that feels this way about how the armor looks.

          • Next year you will finally get new stuff. But it probably won't really be new, it will probably just be year 1 guns updated with random rolls and reskinned armor from D1.

          • I mean control IS Iron Banner. Do you remember the awful days of Iron Banner rift or supremacy? That was rough. The loot can use an update for sure. I miss the RoI Iron Banner aesthetics. But gameplay is about what it always has been.

          • I just have issues with the matchmaking not being fair when I play. Either my team walks all over the other team or my team is dead at spawn until mercy is called.

              • The lock for 3 captures is good imo. Its just poor connection means if you and your opponent trade zones often you'll get locked out when you shouldn't. Also the matchmaking seems to be way worse than regular crucible,which is my main issue.

                • IB is a great endgame activity! Control is used because it requires teamwork and skill, just like the iron lords wanted! I love the lock out feature for getting a triple cap Just wish they would add more bounties and give the old IB weapons random rolls & add them to the loot pool. The weapon quests were bad, they could do with making them team based like they used to be!

                  • I think iron banner is way better than normal pvp because it makes it so you have to actually be good to get kills if you have low power due to the power enabled part, which improves your skill overall

And as usual, silence from Bungie.[/quote] Triple cap is there to incentivize movement from the winning team, without it, theres zero reason not to just hold 2 people at your home point and the other 4 at B holding lanes and camping lanes. Youre right about loot, that should be updated at least once a season. Control is probably for the best since it's a more coordinated mode than clash, and team work is often rewarded.

                              It isnt even an endgame activity. The endgame bounties are super easy to complete, while the introduction quest is the actual endgame activity, and people prefer to overpower the lower light. It's that weird inbetween, where people want Endgame to be challenging, but Iron Banner isn't challenging for them but they still perceive it as endgame because they have an easier time doing it over other people. Is it human nature or something? The powerful get more powerful? Maybe nothing is wrong with politicians screwing over people, maybe it's just people not knowing any better, that their suffering is necessary. I mean, nothing great in human history got done without human sacrifices. Pyramids, Railroads, Wars, even the technology you can buy for cheap prices, the shoes you wear, the food you eat etc. TL;DR Iron Banner is the rich enslaving the poor, but made into a fun game about monopoly as a FPS instead of a board game.

                              • At this point I just want the enhanced mods that have a chance to drop from engram turn ins. Pretty sure they nerfed the drop rate since last season though. Because this time last season I had all of the enhanced mods that could drop, but so far this time I've gotten barely half of the new ones that were added to the pool. Sucks too because I'm pretty sure the one I'm still chasing after is going to be the last one Saladin gives me just like last season. If I even get it at all.
