Did the Traveler purposely trigger the Pyramid ships to come?

At the end of the Vanilla D2 campaign in the cut scene of the light touching everything throughout the Milky Way all the way to the Pyramid ships, which leads to them coming to invade our solar system. If you watch the background of when the light touches all the ships, the light disappears into nothing literally right after going past all the ships as if on purpose to get their attention. Unless that’s just the cut scene and didn’t exactly mean anything to Bungie when making it or didn’t come to mind, etc. etc. But watching the cut scene a few times at that part it’s hard to not think about why, coincidentally, the light “shockwave” stops right after making contact with the ships and doesn’t go any further after. Some food for your thought while we prepare for the coming war

  • Of course it did. It wants to leave like it left the Fallen. The reason it was dormant is likely due to humans refusing to let it leave.

Plot twist: The Traveller IS the Vex mind. (read to the end) Next time you're in the Tower, look into the broken Traveller and you can see rectangular blocks (like in Vex architecture) and there's a whitish liquid inside which looks like Radiolarian (Vex milk). Shards of the Traveller also give off Arc pulses and lightning effects in the EDZ. As Vex can time travel and use alternate time lines, the Traveller is a a far future creation or iteration of the Vex Mind which has travelled back to the time where the Traveller arrived in our system -remember, it just showed up one day. The Vex describe the light and the Traveller as 'that which we cannot replicate'. But what if they can't replicate it because they haven't become advanced enough in this time to create it and the Traveller self-depricates by letting the Vex study it so it can be built in the future? We already have three variations of Vex from different time periods, so why not multiple iterations of the Vex Mind. The Vex terraform planets trying to establish life for themselves. The Traveller also terraforms planets to create life, but for others (Venus, Murcury pre Vex). So what if the Traveller is Terraforming and using everything it creates as its experiments? To see what life does in various situations, giving light to guardians in the same way as scientists give drugs to lab rats. To find the outcomes and further scientific research. Vex love experimenting. The Pyramid Ships are supposedly carrying darkness, and Dark Guardians. That is based on what the Traveller has told us about the darkness, making us think that the darkness is evil. But what if the darkness and Dark Guardians are future Guardians who have renounced from the Traveller's light and by doing so have escaped the experiment. After escaping, they have been chasing the Vex Mind (Traveller) through time and timelines trying to destroy it, not forgetting that the darkness has been encroaching on the Traveller specifically the whole time. The Traveller (Vex Mind) could have come back in time to try to escape the Dark Guardians so it can save itself and secure its own future, and is making us unwillingly help it so it can continue to exist in all time lines. We are the lab rats, obeying its master. That dark guardians aren't evil, they are simply us but free from 'the light' and have been trying to save humanity from the Vex. But they are the result of a previous failed experiment in a different timeline and the Traveller needs us to remove them from existence so it can start over with new lab rats (us). Don't take any of this seriously. It's just a bit of fun coming up with a crazy story, and shouldn't be read as anything other than a bit of fun, lol. • Well...think about this. The Traveler knew to come to us even before the Collapse because we are special. The Darkness buried an artifact here when the solar system was still forming. They both knew this was coming.

        • Probably. There are some plot hole in this idea, but after reading the veil lore book from shadow keep. I sometimes wonder if we got it backwards and if the traveler is a vessel for the winnower/darkness while the pyramid ships are actually the light. In the garden the light wanted things to live forever. The agents of "darkness" aka hive, fallen, vex all posses ways to live forever. Mean while, were ever the traveler goes there is death. The darkness/winnower loved the pattern of life and death in the garden. The traveler follows the same patter everywhere it goes. Each civilization it visits grows, prospers, and then dies. Just like the garden. The traveler/light has a throne world, and so does agents of the darkness such as the hive.

https://pronto-core-cdn.prontomarketing.com/2/wp-content/uploads/sites/1421/2017/08/tao-banner.jpg This image is "The Tao". Or more commonly referred to "Yin and Yang" it features prominently in both Taoism and East Asian Buddhism. It is supposed to represent the fundamental balance of universal forces and aspects of human nature. Its the way it is for two reasons. To show that nothing is entirely made of of ONE thing...and that some combination of "everything" is necessary for things to be in a sustainable state. So Yang---activity, light, heat, warmth, growth----still has to contain a little bit of Yin. (For example cell growth and division without cell death==> cancer). Likewise Yin----rest, darkness, coolness, death, passiviyt----still has to contain a little bit of Yang. How this applies to Destiny and the relationship of the Light and the Darkness is that when Yin reaches an extreme, it sows the seeds of its own destruction....and draws Yang to it. When Yang reaches an extreme, it sows the seeds of its own destruction....and draws Yin to it. So Light and Darkness in the Destiny Universe represent such exteremes of "Yang" and "Yin" that they are inextricably bound to one another. So the activity of the Traveller brings The Darkness....and the Darkness cannot exist without The Light. (In Buddhism this is expressed as "No Mara, No Buddha"....without spritual ignorance/darkness there is no Enlightenment) Its why the Awoken can wield both Light and Darkness, and why Eris Morn---though losing her Ghost and connection to the Traveler----has found an alternate source of power in weilding the Darkness fueled magicks of The Hive. Why the powers of the Taken/Hive seem to be mirror images of those of Guardians. Which means that The Traveller didn't call the Darkness. Its just its awakening and renewed activity DREW the Darkness to it. Osiris was the first to recognize this and understand it. Its why he has never seen the Traveler's presence as a "blessing"....and understood that it simply drew humanity into a conflict that it had no hope of winning. (IOW, The existence of the Traveler meant that there had to be some polar opposite out there that would be drawn to it.) I also think the Traveler understood this, and its why She remained dormant for so long....and only awoke when Gaul threatened to become an abomination as bad as anything (that we know of) that serves The Darkness.

          • Yes, it purposely wanted to get the attention of the things that want to kill it.

          • <I think it didn't awake for so long just so that it DIDN'T trigger the Pyramids. It only woke up after it was in direct danger as Ghaul essentially drained its blood.>
