450 and 360 auto rifles

Since everyone is making posts saying 140 and 110 rpm hand cannons need more range, I figure I might as well make a post about 450 and 360 rpm autos. Now before you comment saying auto rifles don't need buffs, think about what auto rifles you get killed by a lot: hard light, suros regime, the summoner, galliard-42, Tommy's matchbook. Those are probably the main ones. These are all 600 rpm auto rifles except for Tommy's matchbook which is 720. 600s are very strong right now, and 720s are certainly viable too. But you probably don't often see a Uriel's gift anymore, or a halfdan-d. These are 450 and 360 rpm respectively. There's a reason they don't really get used still. Even after the small buff they got this season, 450 rpm auto rifles have an optimal ttk of .8 seconds, which is the same as 600s USED to be back when nobody used them. However, this can ONLY be done on players of 4 resilience or less. If they have more, it jumps up to .93 seconds. That's not a competitive ttk, especially for a weapon that requires you to constantly track your targets. 360 rpm autos got no buffs in season of the worthy and have an optimal ttk of .83 seconds. Again, this is not very competitive for tracking weapons. Also, 360 autos are particularly difficult to track with due to their naturally high recoil. I think these archetypes need to be buffed, since they are currently somewhat lacking. 450 auto rifles are called precision frame auto rifles. I think a great way to buff them would be to increase their precision multiplier (without reducing body shot damage) to make them fulfill this role and make them somewhat more skill-intensive. Making their precision multiplier go from 1.6 to 1.7 would increase their damage from 17/27.2 to 17/28.9 in terms of body/crit damage. This would allow them to achieve a .8 second ttk consistently on any resilience level and allow them to afford 1 body shot to make it a little easier. Alternatively they could make the precision multiplier 1.65 and increase the damage to 17.5/28.875 which would basically have the same effect on headshots but would improve their body shot ttk as well. 360 autos are a little more tricky, but I believe their precision multiplier is currently 1.6, which could be reduced to 1.5 while having their base damage increased so they maintain the same precision damage but do more body shot damage, making them easier to use. An alternative buff to this would be to increase their damage so they do 38 on a crit, making their ttk .67 if you land all crits on someone of low resilience. In addition to either of these buffs I think they need to increase the stability on these auto rifles so they can be a little easier to wield and more consistent. [b][u]TL;DR[/u][/b] Like with hand cannons, two archetypes of auto rifles are underperforming a little. 450 and 360 rpm auto rifles have slow ttks for tracing weapons and need some kind of buffs to make them more competitive.

  • I like autos and am fine with them being good as long as you like half the body shot damage and increase headshot by like 1.5.

  • There is a good chance I have been using 360 Auto rifles longer than anyone else on this post, perhaps than most in all of the playerbase. Time and time again 360 get whined about wanting ANOTHER buff. Not this time. My beautiful Halfdan-d can do everything from raids to survival in the crucible. Note this for a moment: where these slow firing weapons have more recoil, they have premium accuracy. What I mean is if you can remember the recoil like 30000+ kills has taught me, every bullet hits [i][b]exactly where you want it.[/b][/i]. Enhanced auto rifle targeting almost makes me feel like I'm cheating. In crucible, my teammates rely on me to bait and kill snipers, yes you heard right, I am a predator to snipers. The recoil of the hits are too unbearable for the sniper, it panics and is killed. Now I definitely will not be able to fix my kd from year 1, but this gun actually gets me into competitive, at least enough to get randy's throwing knife(by the way, is it good?). They are in a perfect place right now. However the quality of the gun doesn't entirely fall on stats. Unfortunately the optics will determine how good it is. Whoever assigned the optics for the age-old bond should be thrown into the pit of heresy.

    • Yes please buff The "Dan" and Ringing Nail..... We really dont want those buffed, seriously I love them but outside of the current sandbox of AR madness, the hit like trucks, are easy to control, and really accurate Think Gal but slower and hits alot harder

    • You ppl must never use different weapons cause literally nothing being said in this thread is true. 360 autos have always been extremely good, but nobody uses them cause they are effective at longer ranges where pulses and scouts are more popular. 450's are LITERALLY perfect right now with the recent buff. They reward precision shots and are good for mid-range encounters. 720's are close to being good but not quite there. They just need a small stability buff. 600's are BROKEN AF and far excel in dps, range, stability, and handling compared to the other types. They were already the best autos before the buff and then bungo went and gave them the biggest buff which makes absolutely no sense. They never needed that buff and should return to how they were before that update. Also I'm talking from a console pov, where autos are much easier to use since they require very little aiming skill, so things may be a bit different in the pc meta.

      • I would love to see Halfdan get a buff. High-impact autos are fun to use, but they're unforgiving in PvP and unfulfilling in PvE compared to higher RPM weapons.

      • I believe they need to retire a few RPMs from certain guns. For example, do we really need 110, 140, 150, and 180 hand cannons?

        • 450s and 360s are only "bad" by comparison to the meta. 360s have stupid good range and if you get hit by them first you have that oh shit i need to find cover moment. 450s have the best recoil control but a poor TTK like you mentioned. (Come on Bungie, I'd love an Orimund's Anvil with random rolls) Try a steady rounds/snapshot Halfdan-D. Its dope

          • Those auto Rifles do need a tiny bump up Those Hand Cannons people are talking about? No, they're good as is. They'll ruin everything else if they get more range. As of now, they're in the beginning of Fusion rifle range. Good

          • I think 180 scouts , and 600 SMG’s are more in need of balancing then those autos. More so 180 scouts. They are down right awful. 1.0 ttk is awful. And that requires 4 shots. Problem is you can’t make them 3 crit because 150 would then be absolute. 600smgs just need the same, if not more damage then 600 autos. They have no upside other then maybe better hip fire (irrelevant) and in air accuracy. At this time it seems like they are a CQC placebo. 600 autos out perform in every way.

          • 450 pulse rifles are in a pretty bad spot too, their ttk is a joke. Bad juju has no range, outbreaks ttk is bad if you miss even one bullet

              • Imo autos still need a decent buff in pve. Damage compared to a pulse/scout of similar archetype suck. Idk if it's more bullets per shot (pulses) or if its precision multipliers (scouts) or even range but I cant find a good situation to use an auto vs them.
