When is Bungie going to talk about account recovery and the impact it has on balancing and matchmaking? Matchmaking doesn’t work if the top players are playing on lower tier account! I don’t understand how this is still a thing? That’s why this game has doesn’t have SBMM in ALL playlists? Clearly the classic mix is still SBMM cause those are the worse connection games for me and the streams I have watched. this games matchmaking foundation destroyed by hacking and recoveries. The player population will continue to shrink because no one whether high skill or low skill can tell honestly what’s legit and what isn’t. I was playing a match the other night and for whatever the reason I matched with much lower teammates glory wise and the other team had way below stats, different clans, running blues with excellent game knowledge. I knew what was up, but the teammates were calling them out for cheating. Even brought up their stats which is why I looked. Point being if it was ok by bungie players wouldn’t have to be a quiet about it and put it in their steam name or something so that and the untrained eye can see the difference. Between recovery and aim bot/hacker. As it stands now The thrill of great shots are gone, and even myself rather than saying nice great shot, I find myself wondering if they are aimbotting. Which makes me think they think the same about me. That sucks as a feeling IMO
BLUF: I would like Bungie to address recovs, as far as are they allowed if so great, that way it doesn’t have to be hidden and people can title it or whatever so that people aren’t looking at stats and then reporting for cheating. Bungie tends to walk a line where they don’t like to commit to one side or the other on a lot of things.

Edited by michael: 5/11/2020 7:31:19 AMCall me crazy but I don’t really see the big issue with recovs. I mean morally I can, I can see why someone would say why people shouldn’t be able to buy someone to do something for them on a video game. But in game if you match someone on a recov its not like you can be like “ugh these damn recovs are the reason we’re losing!” because if someone is better than you you would lose anyway no matter whose account they are on.

Its what happens when people get coddled with Sbmm lmao anyone who you run into that is actually good at the game must be an account recovery huh? Lmao seems to me someone's getting too many L's in comp. Sure account recovery is an issue but I don't think it should be priority trying to figure out how to counter it as resources should be to making more content

4 RepliesNot sure about PSN, but I know that Xbox has rules against account recovery. If you believe that this is happening, and are on xbox, report them to xbox as well as Bungie. Xbox bans accounts for recoveries. I believe they can even get a console ban as well.

Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old
If Bungie officially accept account recoveries then that’s official acceptance of pay to win. As a result of this, they should put all Trials, Comp, Raid rewards that people utilise recovery services for in Eververse for direct purchase. -
Account recv is nothing bungie can do against they thing why is because if I play on someone accounts it’s the same as sitting next to someone and grabbing his controller. It’s fundamentally unpredictable unpunishble.. the other fact about glory matchmaking. This is how bungie matchmaking works. It’s does not go by glory it go’s by skill. Luke Smith conforms this a few months back. Now you and me text to this as I should then get 2 equal teammates against 3 also equal team players.. butt this only works with a really high player base. However this is how it works on a lower player base. For example you are a 3.0 kd player and there are 3 1.5 kd players add 2 0.5 kd players throw them in a mix this is what you get you ass a 3.0 player will get the 2 0.5 kd players this will add up to a total of 4.0, the other team will get the 3 x 1.5 kd players and this will make for a 4.5 kd total against you’re 4.0 this in bungie eyes is fair sbmm lobby balance match making.. that this will mean that you’re 0.5 kd players will only have 50 glory points is something that will be undervalue by bungie. Hope this info helps you.

12 RepliesGetting shit on isn’t bungies problem. It’s yours. Don’t like being shit on? Yeah neither did I in halo or cod 13 years ago so I played a lot over the years and improved. Now in games my queue times can be like 20 minutes on overwatch.... 20 -blam!-ing minutes and that was with a support queuing with me. Sbmm does not benefit a game like destiny. Cbmm would give you the most consistent match experiences, sure some games you’ll blow chunks and others you’ll be the one shitting on people. Mm shouldn’t be used to coddle bad players it should be used to create a quick fun lobby especially in a game that isn’t -blam!-ing competitive by any standards.

1 ReplyBut how to check who is actually playing on the account? Login from new IP: Enter code? Then just message it via Discord to the guy farming your stuff. Instant time ban when new IP? I bet everyone will love that when restarting their modem. If you are stupid enough to use account recovery you're responsible for everything that happens. Whether it's suddenly deleted characters or a ban due to cheating. But that's it with the consequences.

9 RepliesImo people are desperate that do paid recovs. I rather buy a bottle n play with friends for hours for the achievement. The feel of accomplishment isnt something you can pay for.
-
5 RepliesI don’t care what people spend their money on. I’m not that important to them. Someone who works 6 days a week 12 hours a day doesn’t have the time to grind for mindbenders or push to 5500. But they probably have a lot more disposable income than you do. Maybe some gamers on Xbox right now are getting kids to grind for the machine gun who sat out the entire season with the watercress error until a day ago and only have 4 days left to get a Time gated exotic gun. Maybe they are way under-levelled to compete in trials from sitting idle with error codes and would like a summoner? There are a lot of reasons to get a recov. But I’m broke. So I’m not paying any of you ;). Live and let live. We really need to stop telling everyone how to play. What to use. And how to enjoy destiny.

8 RepliesThe only way they stop it is by stopping all the elitist ways of acquiring loot. Give people multiple paths to acquire coveted loot. Stop putting all the best guns behind PvP. This game is not competitive and it never will be, and that is not a bad thing. Double down on the mayhem and fun. That's the soul of Destiny. They will never, ever stop account recovs otherwise.

1) Bungie's matchmaking is bad because they weight their lobbies - just like everything in their game - nothing is organic and no one 'earns' anything. They have catch-up mechanics for everything and their systems regularly work against each other 2) what do you care of recovs? If Bungie had actual true SBMM, this wouldn't be an issue ... BUT ... they have their 'hybrid' which has been repeatedly shown to be flawed - and exploitable - your issue shouldn't be with those that have more disposable income than you, it should be with Bungie and their refusal to change the matchmaking 3) people have alt accounts, I have three that I play on regularly, bought the season pass, etc. When I'm on my alt accounts, I do have the occasional good game against blueberries but again, that's not my fault, that's Bungie's ... their matchmaking logic needs more logic.

Edited by RPColten: 5/9/2020 5:48:23 AMSo far as I've reread, playing on another persons account isn't a violation of any agreement, but a commercial use of such (EG: person A paying person B to play X mode, then person A recovers their account.) is when it violates the Terms of Service/Use that everyone is required to accept. It would be a violation on both parties as well, the customer and provider.
PERSONAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL USE LIMITATION Unless otherwise specified, the Bungie Services are for your personal and non-commercial use. Except as expressly provided in these Terms, you may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information, software, products or services obtained from the Bungie Services.
As far as I'm aware, "account recoveries" are generally paid services, so it seems kind of moot to consider whether or not the recovery is in violation of any agreement. 4 RepliesHow about we stop calling is "Recovery". The account t wasn't 'lost' or deleted. It was given to another person to impersonate them. Account Impersonation Account Spoofing Account Masking All those make more sense than "Recovery" What millennial made this sh!t up and made it stick?
-
5 RepliesNothing can be done about it. And you walk a fine line there. If I'm at my friends house and play on his account isn't that technically a recovery? As long as it's not cheating the system and someone is playing the game legit its going to be around.
-
🤦♂️SBMM will have a rise in recoveries because good players will match potatoes on a potato account.
-
There’s nothing bungie can do for recoveries. Unless Microsoft/Sony/steam make it so your profile can’t be signed into another console/pc. In survival they made an algorithm that sees how you play normally but if you appear to go way above normally your matchmaking algorithm will change. It doesn’t affect who recoved your acct it’s supposed to hurt the person who gave up his /her acct info.

11 RepliesYour logic is flawed. SBMM makes recoveries significantly easier. Imagine a 2.5 K/D player on a 0.3 K/D player's account. He'll match other players around that 0.3 K/D and won't even have to try. It also matches more players around their own skill level, which makes them have to try every single match, rather than occasionally getting put up against players they can beat. This makes the "easy route" of paying for a recov more attractive. Want Trials recovs to skyrocket to an all-time high? Implement SBMM. I get it. Recoveries ruin the game. But that isn't the arguement for SBMM. In fact, it's one of the best arguements against it.

Edited by thatdudeEd54: 5/10/2020 3:32:37 AMNobody can really do anything about account recoveries if the recov gods that are taking over are playing fair and not cheating. Think about it like this. Its like having a friend over whos better at the game play on your account for you. Hes not cheating, yet hes playing on your account either as a favor or you paid him for his services. You can also make the point as signing to your account on another device. Nobody can really know whether its you or not. Like for instance you are visiting a family member on a different state and you left your ps4 at home. Your cousin has a ps4 and allows you to sign in to your account on their console. The point is, no matter who is behind the controller and the screen, if they play fair and square and follow the rules, nobody can do nothing about that except make these types of services illegal.

Tldr? Walls of text are not happening for me.

2 RepliesBungie are powerless to do anything about it. So they dont. But the blatant cheaters like streamers pffering recovs for cash should all be banned
-
It's like smerfing in csgo so unless it's every single person doing it bungie won't do shit about it.
-
it should be bannable the amount of hackers doing paid recoverys is just absurd
