I played Destiny since the first Alpha. Liked a lot of things. Hated a lot of things.
Stopped playing the first time after the House of Wolves Expansion had me do a story mission in reverse and claimed it was new content.
I had stayed for Crota, but now went away until Siva.
Played D2, stopped playing at Osiris, came back when Cayde died.
But when I look back and think about the stuff I hated the most, it was the stupid grindy events. Do this, like that, a bazillion times. "We don't care what you like to play or enjoy to play, we f-ing tell you what to play. If, that is, you want to get your hands on this shiny new exotic..."
I hated that thing with the floating island, whatever the name was. Hated the cookies. Destiny is in a pretty boring, bland space right now. All I really enjoy is raiding. So when raiding wasn't an option for the Guardian Games, specifically for the triumphs, I was miffed. After I had on one day suffered through five forges in one sitting, I was done.
The whole principle of Guardian Games reminds me of the time when Destiny was a job, when it forced you to log in every day, do stuff, switch characters, do the same stuff, switch characters, do the same stuff, go farm materials.
Nothing new. Nothing interesting. Nothing engaging.
And it feels desperate. And boring and exhausting and grueling. Not to mention poorly conceived and poorly implemented.
So yeah.
Just wanted to say that.

34 RepliesThe problem isn't the game. You're simply not a grinder...and so playing a game like this over a long period of time simply isn't your thing. (IOW...there is nothing Bungie can do to or with this game that is going to keep you from eventually getting bored, burned out, and leaving.) Which is fine. As they say in 12-Step groups. Take what you need and leave the rest. Play when you feel like playing. Leave when you get your fill and its stops being enjoyable. Comeback when you feel the urge to return.
All I really enjoy is raiding.
Destiny is not a raiding game....and there will never come a day when it is one. So I would suggest that you show up each Fall to play the new raid when it drops. Get what you can from that experience., then leave. Wait until the next raid the following year. Because the fact is that less than 10% of the player base raids....and Bungie isn't going to build the entire game around that small minority.

1 ReplyTL;DR I played Destiny for 5 years, I'm quitting again for the 4th time, Every other time I quit I came back quickly, I'll be back soon.

Peace out dog

You not alone mate,

Guardian Games lazy re used assets and was a chore!! and depressing grind

I didn't think that the Power slot exotic weapon was worth the grind. Ya, even a new exotic wouldn't get me to do all that bounty crap. It just another power slot LMG I probably won't use, because the gun sounds like a slow killer since you have to get it spinning before it shoots. In a game where you can be killed within a split second of turning a corner, having to wind-up a gun seems like a death trap. Like the Tommy gun that does dmg to you if the perk is used. What's the point of helping the enemy to kill you?
-
I quit too. Honestly the game becomes a mindless addiction. Less daily aggrevation has me feeling great TBH
-
Is it really quitting if you say “for now”? Isn’t it just taking a break?
-
See ya in a few weeks

I just didn't participate in gg. Everything is optional
-
I made a post today outlining my ideas for how GG could be improved. Point form: -Add 1 class Exotic weapon to each class. -Catalyst requires event participation -Class Locking -Bonus points per week for 3rd place class -Bonus points per bounty/weekly per class member in Fireteam up to 3 total -Weekly upgrade material rewards based on Class Placement I think this would make the entire event a little less grindy but offer more and better rewards per week. As well as an incentive with the class Exotic weapon to work towards. At the end if the event you can buy the other two weapons but will not be able to get the catalyst until the next event.

20 RepliesTitans decimated the competition! Reading all the articles crying about it just makes the victory that much sweeter!

I’ve only had a singular darkest hour with D2, that was shortly after the Prestige Leviathan dropped. Played the first week, then the second where I got the full armour set and then left the game for several weeks. Now I just hop on every weekend while inter-splicing my time with other games. Here’s hoping the next expansion is a timesink.
-
What?! Blasphemy! You don’t like running the exact same bounties over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over (to the tenth power, squared), again???
-
I stopped once I got the LMG, waiting to see what next season brings before I give up altogether.

The games didn't bother me but I stopped playing because of what happened. I am a casual player so I didn't care who won. I played destiny 1 primarily as a warlock. I quit probably around 2015 and recently downloaded destiny 2. I found the grind fun even if it was a bit repetitive. The reason I stopped was because I am casual. The first night gg launched I had to wait for it to download. I usually only play an 1-2 hours per night during the week. It took too long so I didn't play day 1. Day 2 came along and I could not log on due to connection issues. I could get online with other games but not destiny 2. That turned me completely off as a casual player. So I stopped playing. I have logged on here and there but ultimately stopped playing. Not complaining because I do not care about who won. Simply saying that these types of issues for casual players can be a turn off to the game. I am already behind in the grind aspect due to the low frequency of play yet 2 nights in a row I could not even grind.

Edited by Sweet Lew 88: 5/7/2020 8:24:28 PMI've played since D1 beta. I got the first two ghosts and about to get the third. I got all 11 triumphs for GG. If you're an alpha player, you'd think you'd be used to the game play loop by now.... What will you play next?
-
It has reached final form, we are Bill Murray waking up every morning getting ready to cover a news article on a rodent that predicts the weather.... it is officially GROUNDHOG DAY

I barely got heir apparent yesterday.

I just logged on to get the ghost shells.. I have no motivation to do the triumphs for heir apparent... Ill get it in an exotic engram from the season pass next season

2 RepliesImagine crying and quitting a video game over a free optional event lmfaooooo

Understandable, but seems like one of your primary complaints is about how much grind is involved with the game. Since you played D1, you recall how certain weapons could take weeks of grinding, or just pure luck (Spindle, Necrochasm, Prime?). A lot of D1 players hated D2 because of how casual it got, so from my understanding, D2 is nowhere near as hardcore or grindy as D1 was. It didn't get as such until around Forsaken with things like Last Word, and mostly for exotic masterworks. It's actually a lot easier now - kill this, collect that, do a few strikes and gambit matches, tada, legendary/exotic weapon.
-
3 RepliesWait, you left for House of Wolves and came back for Crota? Are you Marty Mcfly?
-
1 ReplyYou don't Have to participate in guardian games. You can play any aspect of the game without participating in guardian games. If you don't like the actual game because you find it boring, that's not due to guardian games, that's down to bungies implementation of monotony due to lack of creativity.

Its an activity killer for sure. Most of friends list is in other games now.
