Yesterday, I worked literally 6 hours to get the Whisper of the Worm.
I read the exotic perk to be: Kills refill magazine
I thought it was thin air.
After some research, I discovered that it used to be thin air.
Now, it is just a reload from the magazine.
And with so many bosses that are small and move around a lot, 3 headshots is hard and should be rewarding.
I know infinite ammo is probably overpowered, but could you make it so that it could still have White Nail, but also triple tap or fourth times the charm (Maybe instead of Mulligan?)
Or could you move it to the first slot and make it special ammo?
I am going to put this weapon that I put in an immense grind for...
back into the vault. (Edit: not anymore)
I hope you guys listen, for this is what happened to Black Hammer/Spindle.
With sincere regards:
Zeeba
*EDIT* To the people who say 6 hours is way too long, Bungo made this mission way harder. But It was mostly waiting for the event to spawn. (I didn't completely know how to spawn it.) It only took 3 runs: 1 to show me around, 1 to practice, and the real thing. Also, we ran into problems upon finding people. (They kept quitting). I am convinced by you guys and will keep it in my heavy slot with double heavy ammo reserves. I still think triple tap or fourth time's the charm would be great though. And I understand it has realy good DPS for raids. Thank you for feedback.

1 ReplyClearly you haven’t had it before. In D1, It started as a legendary sniper (in the secondary slot) called the black hammer. It had infinite crit shots. That was nerfed. Then they made it into an exotic Calle the black spindle. That had infinite shots then it was nerfed. In D2, we got it a 3rd time as the whisper. It had infinite crits for a while (again, bungie let us have fun with the infinite crit shots til it was nerfed). The point is, bungie always knew it was too overpowered and most likely planned to nerf it after the community got enjoyment out of it.... THREE TIMES. If you weren’t around to get it at any of these times since 2014, that’s on you. Even in D2, the gun has been around since the warmind dlc dropped, so there was ample time to get it and use it with its infinite crit shots before the nerf. Fact is, it’s a game breaking gun that when used right, gives infinite sniper ammo, and bungie knowing this, allowed us to use it (for a while 3 separate times). It’s not up to them to work around ppl who didn’t get it in time. Does it suck that it was a beast then got nerfed again? Sure. But just like any weapon that ppl don’t go after, it’s not on bungie for loss of features, it on you for not get and using it when it was at its best. Sorry to sound rude, but that’s the truth. Just gotta accept it.

1 ReplyIt should’ve stayed the same but only allowing the weapon to carry 3 bullets max. This will still allow the infinite ammo however if you miss, you are screwed because your whole dps just fell apart. The catalyst can change to stability and range instead of reload since that would be useless
-
5 RepliesI didn't know they patched it to make it harder. I did the quest way back so can't remember.
-
I'm not a fan. Whisper Breathing takes to long and by the time you have it and fire 2 shots the boss is out of Dps (raid) esp Scourge with the phase rotation. I personally find legendary with rapid shot and firing line much better. Whisper needs a overhaul now izi is gone
-
I kinda liked the idea of the gun only holding 3 in reserves and would stay infinite as long as you it your crits. Still can be abused, but it was a nice idea to keep the gun unique.
-
8 RepliesIdk whisper is already the meta in two final raid bosses, and if you have good accuracy will melt any boss.
-
3 RepliesIt needed the nerf. The real problem here is that it was brought back in this state in the first place, knowing what they would have to do. Seems like a ploy to sell ornaments to me.
-
2 RepliesI regret every day wasting that 1k silver on whisper ornament. Feels scammed.

7 RepliesEdited by A1CBeers: 5/6/2020 3:49:57 PMDumb idea. Giving it Triple Tap in place of White Nail actually is a huge nerf to the gun. Double sniper reserves gives you 23 shots that you can fire consecutively without reloading if you hit your crit shots, thanks to White Nail. It is fine as is. Triple Tap would make it so you can only fire 4 rounds before having to reload, significantly dropping its DPS, and Fourth Time's the Charm wouldn't even function on the gun due to a 3 round magazine. White Nail>either perk. Giving it back its theoretical unlimited ammo would revert it back to being the only gun that people would want you to use in most raids, bringing us back to a Destiny 1 Gjallarhorn scenario where you might be totally left out of a raid team simply based on not having that gun. Bad idea. Unfortunately it took a damage hit recently when they nerfed sniper PvE damage by roughly 20% across the board at the start of this season, but it's still a very good weapon. The ONLY possible change that I can agree with is taking both Whisper and DARCI out of the Power Weapon slot. Only reason those guns are in that slot is because they were, for whatever reason, the only 2 weapons that should have been moved from that slot and weren't when we finally got away from the double-primary weapon system from year 1. Otherwise, don't touch the gun IMO.

11 RepliesThey won’t listen. The entire community had this discussion when the nerf was first introduced. Bungie would rather nerf weapons and armor into uselessness than allow them to remain unique and, god forbid, fun!
-
3 RepliesYou realize triple tap would weaken the weapon and 4th time would literally be useless (since Whisper has 3 bullets in mag). You might not believe this but whisper is still one of the best pve weapons for boss dps. It's not the top1 anymore but top3-top4 for sure. We all would love old whisper back, but don't ask for nerfs for the old friend. BTW what you ask for is counterproductive. Whisper has 3 bullets so triple tap would require the same amount of crit shots it does now but instead or reloading it would give just +1 bullet. Whisper is outstanding as it has constant dps since it skips reload animation that reduces dps. With ammo reserves Whisper has it can destroy all non-raid/dungeon bosses solo, just land your hits. That's a skill rewarding weapon. I looked your raid record, you don't really do raids. Whisper is a Raid weapon mostly and you don't know its full potential yet.

99% boss of the game are super easy to hit hs

My forge show of force with explosive rounds does more damage....wtf is that about.

It was good months ago. Bungie is always nerfing good weapons. Do you expect them to wait for you to get the gun, a year or more later, to finally nerf the gun. I knew they were going to nerf it as soon as it came out. They made it more powerful than the first time it came out as the black hammer, when they nerfed it to the ground.
-
Time to move on we had in d1 we had it in d2 its okay to move on.
-
2 RepliesIt was never kills refill the mag .. Consecutive crit shots pre-nerf pretty much gave us infinite ammo .. Now it pulls from reserves on 3 consecutive crit shots.. It was amazing during black armory & scourge of the past .. Its a great weapon still in my opinion .. But let's be honest here .. Just like auto reloading never should've been a thing .. Neither should an intrinsic perk allow us to have infinite ammo
-
This is a great example of what Bungie does... they do not understand their own game, what it is and where it’s going, hence the nerf. Worm was too powerful for new content so they nerfed it. They do this all the time... they are terrible developers, truly.
-
33 RepliesThey didn’t make it harder they made it normal. I did it back the like most players multiple time for the catalyst. It’s also the best weapon in GoS now for DPS so I don’t know what you’re Ben -blam!- about
-
6 RepliesI still think the nerf was bullshit. With the amount of flinch and all the other things we have to deal with landing crits isn't always guaranteed.
-
5 Replieshow did it take 6 hours to complete? Did you solo?
-
2 RepliesIt’s still a very productive weapon but you should research any weapon before doing grind. I think it’s been nerfed 4 times but I could be wrong. They nerf everything so nothing will be as advertised when getting a better weapon these days.
-
1 ReplyItd be kinda cool if it overloaded the mag by 2. So if you got 3 headshots, it would take three from reserves and add 2 to the mag
-
2 RepliesYou should have got it two weeks ago when ANYONE could solo it. Would have taken you 10 mins, not 6 hours
-
1 ReplyWith the changes made to auto-reloading, Whisper of the Worm continues to be a top tier option for endgame activities. Back when the gun provided infinite ammo, it became a MUST USE weapon for any sort of difficult content giving you the ability to put out very high damage indefinitely. For most raid bosses, it really is not difficult to hit continuous critical hits, especially with the introduction of Divinity. I'd rather keep it a Power weapon than move to the Energy slot, it would need to have a damage nerf as an energy weapon. Also, this is probably the easiest exotic quest to complete in the game right now, the gun does not need a buff.
-
I personally prefer it in the heavy slot so I can do 3 sniper builds
-
Bruh. It’s still one of the best weapons in the game by a long shot, especially due to the lack of auto reloading. It doesn’t need infinite ammo to be a machine, dawg.
