When you re-initialized did you start it from the system settings menu or did you boot to safe mode and re-install the system OS from an external USB drive?

Listen, I just want to know if this is definitely on Bungie's end, cause it seems like it is and they haven't made that clear. I'm sick of trying to find new ways to "fix" this problem if It's a problem I can't even fix. There needs to be more clarity.

That error code is caused 95% of the time by bad sectors on the hard drive. How do I know this? From going through three hard drives on three separate PS4's and then running disk checks on them after pulling the drives. Unfortunately it is the harbinger of doom for your hard drive

Tip... that error code is a Playstation error code not a Bungie one. Bungie uses names of animals or plants to inform people what error codes are theirs or the platform's which use alpha numerical codes for their errors.

It's not a Sony/Playstation issue, it must be on Bungies end at this point after all I've tried. Unless there is more information released by Bungie, like I've asked for in my post, I'm going to continue to believe it's on Bungies end.

Pretty sure this can’t be a Bungie problem. Games and updates are stored on PSN servers. The only time you download from Bungie is when there is an in-game update. Have you swapped the stock hdd by any chance? I have found several posts online in which players have had this issue (with other games) and the cause was their choice of replacement hdd. I know a lot of PS3 users had issues when using a hdd with much higher rpm. I know that you said you have downloaded other games, but only crashing when downloading Destiny could be coincidental.

I haven't done anything to the PS4 internally, and I don't have any external memory hardware for the PS4 either. I just wanted to play D2 on PS4 recently and kept getting the corruption error. If it is my PS4, thats fine I will figure something out on my end, but I would still like more clarity because the "known issues" post Bungie made mentions my error being a top priority. How am I supposed to know for sure? I'm not knowledgeable on code or anything like that but I've been able to download every single other game I own and I know this because I had to redownload them all.

It's still a Destiny issue. On PS4, you cannot "logout" through the game then close out or you get it. You also cannot suspend the game without closing the application or you get it. It started with the 2.8.1 update.

Sure, keep blaming Sony when Bungie has said multiple times it is on their end and they are investigating. What I said was:
What you are describing are in-game issues, issues downloading the game/update from PSN are not.
I did not dispute that the in-game crashes are Bungie’s fault. The OP however, is experiencing this crash when trying to download the game. They haven’t even launched the game yet. None of Bungie’s code has even been executed. An error downloading it can only be PSN or the players console / network. As much as I understand why you have reposted Bungie’s acknowledgement of crashes, you have failed to acknowledge the crucial fact that the crashes they refer to are in-game. They have not claimed any responsibility for the issue that the OP is experiencing.

I have been able to launch the game, it brings me to the menu where concept art from the Destiny series cycle and on the right side of the screen the circle records how much is being downloaded. At a certain point it just up and fails, giving me the corruption error. Bungie or Sony? this is why I'm still waiting on more information.
I have been able to launch the game, it brings me to the menu where concept art from the Destiny series cycle and on the right side of the screen the circle records how much is being downloaded.
This changes things. By the sounds of it, you are either: Trying to install from a physical copy of the game. Have launched the game and it is installing. In which case I recommend you delete what has installed (if it shows) and then download the game from the PSN store as the base game is now free. or You are downloading from the PSN store, enough has been downloaded for you to launch it and it has crashed whilst downloading the rest. In which case, delete what has installed (if it shows) and download again from the store. But, view the status of the download (notifications from home screen - options button - downloads) and wait until it has fully installed.

I've tried both of those things and still no dice, it prompts me to "cancel and delete download" which I have. I've checked all available areas to check if any data from Destiny is still on my system and I can't find anything. I feel really defeated.

Edited by Dopefriik: 5/4/2020 6:01:08 AMIf this is the case, and your PS4 can’t download it at all (with nothing running) then sadly it sounds like it is your console. As mentioned by magis123 your hdd is most likely the culprit. If your console is still in warranty, or if you have purchased cover insurance, you should be able to get the hdd replaced. Otherwise you can replace it yourself, the only restriction from what I see is the physical depth (< 9mm) https://support.playstation.com/s/article/Upgrade-PS4-HDD?language=en_US
I feel really defeated.
Sucks I know, tech is great until it isn’t.

I don't understand how its my console though? it's only Destiny?
-
Edited by Dopefriik: 5/4/2020 6:14:44 AMIf the problem exists whilst Destiny is open, then it would likely be Destiny / Bungie. The thing is, if your console can’t download it at all (with nothing open), then it can only be PSN (where the game is downloaded from) or local (your console). Given that others are able to download it hassle free from PSN, the logical conclusion is that it has to be a local issue. It’s possible that there could be an issue with your network, unlikely but possible, you could rule this out by trying to download at somebody else’s house.

Hmm I understand. Well thank you for all your information and help, I appreciate it.
