What's the point of the armor's elemental affinity anymore, if you have enough mats to keep changing it. This and the seasonal mod slot's limitations to which season mods can be equipped. Unnecessary stuff, that only makes you feel like you miss something.
People keep mentioning so many quality of life changes that would improve the playing experience and the devs rather keep coming up with nEw BouNtiEs aNd EmOtEs.

Just remove the heavy cost to change the affinities. As it stands, I don't want to change my affinities because it costs too damn much. I just spent almost the same amount of materials bringing it up to masterwork level, I don't want to spend a similar amount of materials converting it over 1:1 without resetting it's masterwork. I don't have a lot of time to play. At best, I play maybe 20-30 or so combined hours during the week, most of that time accumulates on my days off work. But that doesn't mean I am dragging my pockets around with all these abundant materials. The only ascendant shards I get are the ones I get from the pass, since I don't have enough time or patience, in one sitting, to run through a Master Nightfall (I hate them, but that's a different story).

2 RepliesTo waste your time and drain your mats so they can double dip on wasting your time, duh!

1 ReplyEdited by Rufas-1: 5/1/2020 8:12:22 PMThe point is to restrict builds. It reduces the mod combinations per slot which in turn reduces the amount of stuff they have to worry about when attempting to balance the sandbox. I don't think there is any other reason than that. EDIT: I'm not saying I like it.

They should just remove the elements. I don't like chasing the same armor, especially exotics, just so I can equip some different mods on them Ex: My arc stompees can't equip sniper scavengers, only shotgun, because they are arc. Very dumb. Armor 2.0 was supposed to increase customization, which it did, but this element system is stopping the system from reaching its full potential.

Remove all elements from armor Remove all points from mods Armor levels: Level 1 - General Stat mod - Glimmer Level 2 - First General mod - Shard Level 3 - Second General mod - Core Level 4 - Universal Seasonal mod - Prism Level 5 - Stat boost - Ascendent

Edited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 5/2/2020 12:05:41 AMYeah with how rare it is to get the stat rolls you want it's kinda annoying to either have to jack up a build by swapping mods around if you want to go from sniper scavenger to special scavenger or just sacrifice a build entirely and swap from a perfectly rolled void pair of boots to some jank arc boots just to be able to pick up extra shotgun ammo. I guess you can just waste materials by swapping elemental affinities but you'll quickly go broke and eventually end up jacking up a build to get the scavengers you want. Also traction is a dumb mod just make it an intrinsic perk of all boots.

Yes and yes a thousand times over

3 RepliesIirc it's due to technical limitations where having all mods available on an armour piece would be too many and would somehow break the game. I can see that, the menus are already super slow and laggy, but there's better options I think than what's currently in place. Reducing the number of armour mods would work better for me. Rather than having scout dexterity, auto dexterity, pulse dexterity etc, only have primary dexterity, secondary dexterity etc.
-
here's my thing. If it's a seasonal mod why not just have it available that season? That's how I exptected it to be in the first season of this new system. Now they're adding layer upon layer of different loadouts and builds they need to balance for future content. Though I'm sure most people prefer to retain these "seasonal" mods & since we have them the uproar would probably be strong if they removed them. Give all armor it's standard mod slots and 1 seasonal. Give weapons their standard mod slot and 1 seasonal. And for the love of us all, give, at the very least, Primary and Secondary exotics the seasonal/artifact slot to make them relevant in Ordeals and other content that contain Overload, Unstoppable and Barrier Champions.
-
I'm fine with elements since i technically can swap them anytime, but i really have seasonal mod slot to be the way it is. I really wanna just be able to swap barrier mod (hive/fallen/taken) on my class item freely, not have to carry 2 class items everywhere. Seasonal mod the way it is does not limit your builds in any way, it's just making you hold many sets just to swap loadouts for no reason. And ppl wonder why other complain about Vault space when you have to have so many sets for the stupid seasonal mods. When you look at elemental affinity you can have a position that "it's for balance" as without affinities you could use mods from all elements at once, but there is only one seasonal mod slot, you can't combo them. Why limit them to 3 season? illusionary grind forcing you to keep multiple sets. Seasonal mod slot forcing to have sets from different times x3 (affinities) to keep on you or in the vault. stupid stuff.
-
Yeah it's just an added layer of "time suck" they need more players wasting their precious free time doing monotonous grinding that ultimately doesn't matter.
-
Agree, the elemental limits what ideal builds you can have.. want sniper and machine gun reserves? Too bad unless you kept your old armor. Seems like everything Bungie is doing anyi just make the game worse.
-
The mod slot limitation is the worst. Could not agree more with this point

10 RepliesCounter argument scrap everything and bring back gear sets with bonus perks unique to activities therefore giving reason and purpose to content
-
5 RepliesThey need to get rid of seasonal mods entirely. No one cares about them, and it doesn’t even help reduce power creep since the mods don’t go away, and that’s the whole reason they made seasonal mods in the first place.
-
3 RepliesKeep the element on the armor. They can be used to restrict what seasonal mod combos we can use. I’m totally fine with that. Remove the elemental requirements for weapon mods. If I want to play with hand cannons and shotguns... just let me.... please for f sake just remove the elemental requirements for all weapon mods .... /cry

3 RepliesThe grindy bounties and emotes mainly cater to streamers, have to find something to show off content.

1 ReplyEnough mats??? Dude, I can't even fully masterwork the gear that I use.

9 RepliesUnpopular Opinion, I don't mind the Legendary Elemental Affinities, as I think it adds a bit of spice and gives a drive to find that right piece of gear along with the Elemental Affinity. It also limits what can be placed where, which balances out some things. However, I do agree that Exotics should be Affinity Neutral and have access all choices as to expand customization. As for seasonal mod slots, I do agree that the mod slot is poorly implemented with the "Seasonal Limit". I have a nice build for Warmind Cells this season and had a great build for last season as well, but I know that in a season or two that armor will be depreciated. I feel that moving the seasonal mods to the general slot or just making it a year slot (i.e. Year 3 Slot).
-
Yeah, honestly feels unnecessary at this point.

1 Reply0% chance I'm grinding a whole other set of armor. Not one more piece. Ever. If it's not a universal ornament then I just delete it.
-
Simply agree.😉👍

1 ReplyHonestly what was ever the point? Bungie said they did it so we wouldn't have to scroll over to see all our mods. If anyone has the material to switch elements on a regular basis then they probably also have enough peoces of armor where they dont need to. It's a frustrating system. Also artifact mods shouldn't have to be slotted in or they should have their own slot. The blue mods not the seasonal. Also exotic armor should also have seasonal mod slots so we can fully engage with the system. I'm having fun with warmind cells. Though I regret spending materials to make it work.

I think the seasonal mod slots are fine the way they are. However, armor affinity is pointless to keep. It restricts weapons with certain weapons. It’s not an enjoyable experience.

2 RepliesAre the season mods so incredible awesome that they justify a whole new armor set? Kinda curious. I'm happy with my all-purpose Gambit armor but...
