WAIT A MINUTE..... did you guys just "SPLIT DAMAGE" between pve and pvp? Why was this not done for other things in the past? I thought we couldn't possibly do that?

  • They've always been able to do that, they just choose not to under the premise of '1 guardian, no matter the activity'.

  • Some things can be split between PvE and PvE, but not everything.

  • Everything can, they just choose not too make a completely seperate template. If it wasnt possible then it wouldnt have cases such as this and a handfull of times tweaks. Its just extra work. Which they do the minimum as is.

  • Is that sarcasm? I'm not really sure. This was my understanding as to why a weapon everyone enjoyed being overpowered in pve would be nerfed, because it ended up being too OP in pvp and adjustments had to be made so they wouldn't "ruin" the sandbox. Like every other weapon that was too OP in PVP that got nerfed and is garbage in pve now.

  • Nah pve & pvp have had different damage values since the beginning of the franchise. People complain because Bungie doesn't just nerf damage values; they change things like range, stability, perks, etc.

  • Well I'm glad this is the approach. Maybe because of how it was worded got me all excited. I was always under the impression in the past that it was otherwise. They had a habit of saying things like, " well we didn't want to make too much of an adjustment to this weapon due to over use and affect it in this area". I can understand changes to a weapon type, but here they have singled out a weapon and that's usually not their MO. They like to do a whole hearted gut to a particular weapon archetype.

  • Typically PvP and PvE Nerfs are separate. But they are often done at the same time if warranted. Problem is that PvE players don’t understand that nerfs are necessary to keep PvE healthy as well. Example: recluse was literally the only primary worth using in PvE, but it was also obnoxious in PvP and OP on PC. So it got nerfed, and the nerf worked well for PvE and PvP. But the community blamed PvP as per usual... Oddly enough PvE players try really hard to blame PvP for all PvE nerfs. I saw a guy on these forums blaming PvP players for the Orpheus rig nerf... lol think about that../

  • Things that have been tuned differently in PvP and PvE: -all damage dealing perks -weapon damage by archetype -ability damage They have literally been doing this since atleast forsaken,

  • They first did it in Destiny 1 when they doubled shotgun damage in PvE.
