I let one of my friends play on my account sometimes, which is technically an account recovery. another one of my friends has told me that recently recoveries have become a bannable offence, is this true?

Technically yes, however I've not heard of anyone getting a ban from it. I have heard of many many people who have paid for a recovery for comp/trials loot and have caught a ban because the people doing the recovery cheated. Common sense needs applying here, personally I'd never give my account details out to anyone I didn't have trust in.

1 ReplyAccount recoveries are a security risk for your account hence why everyone recommends against them. While a recovery is not a ban offence in it's self any action taken on your account which can result in a ban will be issued no matter who was playing on that account at the time. Also people have reported... Characters deleted. Accounts stolen. Remember it is not just Destiny at risk but everything on your account.

On Bungie's side, it is a gray area honestly. Not so much on platform side though. It is against the rules for every platform and bannable.

It is against the rules of both bungie and the platforms.
