Do you want to see a buff to Linear Fusion Rifles?

Yes, without a doubt.

Maybe, I'm skeptical.

No, fusions are fine as they are!

I personally think Linear fusions are well overdue for a buff. Their DPS is overall lackluster in PvE. The recent Rapid Hit/Firing Line [armory]Line in The Sand[/armory] was interesting, mainly due to the relative flat 23% damage increase offered by Firing Line. However, it did not make Linear Fusions viable contenders with GLs or Swords now. Rocket Launchers are in a similar situation. I have some ideas for Linear Fusion buffs which I'll shorten in a spoiler to keep this post short. TL;DR: 1) Give Precision Frames a flat damage buff. 2) Revert the [armory]Box Breathing[/armory] nerf to bring [armory]Komodo-4FR[/armory] and [armory]Crooked Fang-4FR[/armory] in line with Line in the Sand. 3) Create a new archetype, the Rapid Fire Frame: Deeper Reserves. Landing 2 rounds charges a high damage bolt with unique energy effects. Precision Frame Thoughts:
Right now, there's only one archetype of linear fusion rifle in the game, the Precision Frame. There are only two random rolled energy type weapons, listed above. In theory, Liner Fusions should be relatively hard hitting precision weapons that have some sort of energy effect on the enemy. Overall, they're a sustained damage weapon, as supposed to raw burst damage weapon (like Rockets or GLs). Personally, I think you should give Precision Frames a flat 25-50% damage buff across the board in PvE and maybe increase the crit modifier. This way they can outperform sniper rifles in boss damage and still have enough utility to be used to clear majors and (not recommended) general adds. Ideally, you'd want 1-2 clips (with requisite perks) to deal good damage to a boss.
New Archetype: Rapid-Fire Frame
I'm using the archetype naming convention currently employed. This is just an idea. Rapid Fire Frame: Deeper Reserves. Landing 2 rounds charges a high damage bolt with unique energy effects. I suggest adding this new archetype with a unique energy burst effect that applies on every 3rd? consecutive hit. This effect could be as simple as a dragonfly-like AOE... but I have included more creative examples below. The effect could work similarly to perks like [armory]The Perfect Fifth[/armory] on Polaris Lance, Triple Tap, or Fourth Times the Charm. The new linear fusion would fire much faster than a normal Precision, somewhere between 333 ms and 500ms. The maximum charge time including Liquid Coils should be less than or equal to a min charge time Precision, so 500ms. The damage per bolt would be less than buffed Precisions, but the burst affect would essentially make all the difference. All rounds still penetrate (like other linear fusions). Also, the effect should crit with precision hits. Additionally, the magazine should hold somewhere between 9 and 16 rounds, depending on the frequency of the burst effect.
Examples:
Solar Rapid Fire Linear Fusion: Landing 2 (or 3?) hits charges a round that burns the target for a short duration (2-3s). Consecutive hits either increase the burn damage to a cap or refresh the duration. Arc Rapid Fire Linear Fusion: Landing 2 (or 3?) hits charges a round that creates an arc pulse that deals X% bonus damage and blinds targets in an aoe. Void Rapid Fire Linear Fusion: Landing 2 (or 3) hits charges a bolt that slows and makes targets vulnerable to additional hits from the weapon for a short duration (2-3s). OR ... bolt that deals x% bonus damage and slows. The "burst" ramp up effect would end on reload. To keep things simple, maybe localize the ramp up effect to the player firing the weapon so multiple guardians don't proc each others burst shot. Also, you could play with the damage numbers between energy types to equalize the damage, taking into account the utility Void and Arc provide. Note: This gives an opportunity to make a new Ritual weapon.
One last note on exotics, [armory]Sleeper Simulant[/armory] and [armory]Queenbreaker[/armory] need some love. Sleeper needs to have some of it's nerfs reverted, and Queenbreaker just needs to be moved to the special slot, like Arbalest. Arbalest, on the other hand, is perfectly fine as it is.

 • Better idea, LFRs should be moved out of the heavy slot and just use special ammo. We already have Arbelest there anyway, so it should be fine. Right now, you could completely remove Heavy LFRs from the game and nobody would notice except maybe for Sleeper.
