Like seriously as destiny vet right now in this sandbox and the last 2 or 3 I've felt weak, pathetic, and like I'm gonna wear out my trigger ,is there any need for a red bar vandal to take 2-3 hand cannon crits? You made the enemy's more bullet spongy than borderlands yet less ability spam? So the game is to basically hold your trigger or spam your trigger till you get bored? And the high level content is more engaging but you cant go 5 minutes without -blam!- yourselfs so I end up spending more time in lfg then playing activities no joke ,
At this point the game is nothing more than logging on to get the bright dust from the weekly's and the pinicle rewards that are available (not that there helping much since all I get are chest peices and energy weapons over and over again)
I want to play destiny
I want to enjoy destiny but
High level content is TO restricting and no fun : ie not enough options to use the weapons I like against champions so I feel forced to use Eriana on all 3 characters because I'm not rushing a barrier night that 2 taps me with a sidearm or SMG you guys are burnt with choices of weapon mods for the season with GM nightfalls
Low level activities havent been touched since forsaken or launch in some cases
Like I'd love to run some strikes but .....why would I? Vangaurd tokens are worthless, you can only have so much glimmer amd I'm sick of seeing blues , so I'm not doing the ordeal, I'm not doing regular strikes ? The warmind public events are the most boring thing you've put forward, so theres just nothing to do.
Getting bored cause I'm a god would have been more fun that whatever destiny is now

6 RepliesEdited by Cobravert: 4/14/2020 1:24:27 PMI find it odd that it's taken this long for most of you to figure out this, for it has been this way since the beginning. I guess too many were too enamored to notice that all this game is and has been since Day 1 of D1, is the grind for things that will be useless in the near future. Only to be replaced by things that are as useless, which will themselves be replaced by things that will be replaced. All that the game ever does is release harder to complete tasks in new areas that make no sense what so ever (even for an imaginary world), requiring more contrived leveling materials, all to be whisked away and reformatted, re skinned, and renamed in the next dlc. Nothing has changed. Those of you who now realize this have just opened your eyes.

Hey Bungie ! People love matchmaking for easy simple grindy activities ! Lot of people don't know that LFG exist. Lot of people don't like LFG for good or bad reasons. Sure the bunker and the lost sectors can be soloed. But some people want to play with others. You know it's kinda supposed to be an MMO. High level elitist content designed for the top 5% pve or pvp will only be found fun by those 5%. It kinda makes sense. If an activity is quick mindless fun people won't care much if the rewards are average. But if the activity is a huge pain to prepare for and to do, then they expect a better rewards. Title have lost a lot of their value when you started to make easy seasonal ones. If Conqueror is not written in gold letter, then it's not that different from the others.

16 RepliesOnce upon a time there was a fairy tale about power creep...😂 This Game could be not more far away from any power creep. Just boring bullet sponges and mediocre weapons everywhere.
-
This. I would rather have power creep than what we have now.
-
“Must have Ghorn or kick” if you complained about this you’re one of the reasons we’re here.
-
Remember how for years on end people didn't want a painfully mediocre sunshot buff because 'power creep' would ruin the game? Idiots.

Last night, I fell into two Ordeals in progress with people who had little idea of how to do them, didn't have the proper loadouts. I was the only one burning the Champions. Actually had to restart the last part twice before I carried them through. And I'm not used to carrying people by any stretch. Did some strikes under similar but less taxing circumstances, falling into them while they were in progress. I actually said, out loud, several times, "I hate this -blam!-ing game." That's when I knew it was time to turn it off and do something else. After the Ordeals, I tapped out.

33 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 4/14/2020 12:27:28 PMIts a difficult balance between enough challenge to keep the game interesting....but letting the player feel powerful enough that the game play loop is fun, and the power-fantasy is kept intact. Last year, the power fantasy was running wild due to power creep. But you had many of the same problems you're currently upset about. All of our power was piled up in one small corner of the game, and there was no build diversity whatsoever. We all ran the same loadouts, and used the same strategies, because the power distribution was so lopsided. Bungie has reined in the power creep....but now the weapon system has fallen into a bland sameness. The game play hasn't....because Armor 2.0 and the Seasonal mods have allowed for a LOT more play options and build diversity..... ...but its come at the cost of demanding a lot more creativity and build-crafting on the part of the player.. Luke Smith often talks about "The action game getting in the way of the RPG." in his Director's Cut. IMO, this is what he's talking about. You want the game to play and feel more like an action game. You want the guns to feel powerful, crisp, and the TTK to be short enough that you feel that you're doing a lot of damage with them. But if you stray TOO far in that direction...play becomes one-dimensional. You just plow through enemies with the guns...and don't have to bother with any of the games other abilities or mechanics (IOW, where we were last year)....and any RPG elements get mashed flat. OTOH, you stray too far in the other direction....the game starts to not FEEL very good as an action game. This is the problem that The Divison 2 is strugglign with right now. The RPG elements (build-crafting and min-maxing) are so prominent that the "action-game" feels ridiculous at times. Where you find yourself squaring off with an NPC at close range with an M-60 (LMG)....and you have to empty 50 rounds into the thing to get it to die. That is frustrating...and its part of the reason why Massive Entertainment (the devs) is on the brink of war with their playerbase right now. TLDR: Both games right now (Destiny 2 and The Division 2) are both struggling right now to find a balance between "challenge" and "power-fantasy".....and between "action game/tactical shooter" and "RPG". Both devs have ideas about "end-game challenge" that are simply not healthy and not compatible with loot-based games. With loot games, you always want to err on the side of power-fantasy. The whole point of the grinding and build-crafting, etc....is to make your character more powerful....and the game eaiser. Which is why Grandmaster Nightfalls are going to land with a wet splat. You'll have a small number of people who will endure the torture of 12 negative modifiers to get the title and triumph....and then no one is going to bother playing it after that. I think we're seeing this issue because both devs are trying to pioneer a new type of game....and both of them are relatively inexperienced. Massive has the RPG down....but is struggling to get the action game right. Bungie has the action game down...but is trying to figure out how to expand the RPG without watering down the feel of the action game. TLDR the TLDR: I think you're right. The game---this season---has clamped down too hard on the power-fantasy, and is trying to ratchet up the "challenge" in ways that grate against power-fantasy and the core identity of the game. Add that to the waning loot incentive---because power-progression has been mashed flat---and I think you have why so many veteran players are feeling exhausted and frustrated. The grind starts to feel like a pointless hamster wheel, if you can't feel any meaningful increases in power.

Getting bored cause I'm a god would have been more fun that whatever destiny is now[/quote] I’ve always felt the guardians should have a synergy with their abilities. The gunplay is solid and fun but what makes us unique from those without the light is our abilities. We should be using those abilities on a far more regular basis intertwined with our gunplay. Not to the degree Anthem has where it’s the exact opposite but more so than what we have here. I remember doing a two man nightfall on D1. It had a modifier that allowed faster super regen. My buddy and I were trying for the gold tier rating for the Vanguard. It was the mission with all the Taken and in the boss fight and there were blights everywhere. We were two bubble Titans alternating and timing our supers to survive. It was a blast. I felt like I was much more than a gunman with the occasional trick up my sleeve. We were constantly changing our combat moves on the fly and it was fun. I would hope to see more of that in the future instead of just shooting with the “one-off”, occasional light show.

6 RepliesI wish they would update Evey strike with one new piece of loot theme around the strike, like have th corrupted have a taken handcanon, and the Scarlett keep have a cool class item or something. I would run all the old strikes again to grind for new cool loot. But I just play pvp and then occasionally pve since there's no good rewards for anything anymore

I too would like activities that are borderline impossible unless I have a hyper specific load out that has price locked behind RNG. Was so much fun during D1 killing Skolas by melting him or having to use tracking launchers on Crotato even get anywhere.

They could go someway to resolving Champion pains by allowing Mods on Exotic Weapons - it's long overdue

I agree how boring the game is right now. But welcoming power creep isn’t the answer either. Instead of dealing with issues now we’d just be putting them off for tomorrow. Issue is, we’ve already been here and put it off for tomorrow and now we’re stuck dealing with the issue. I don’t know what the answer is but I’ve been around during a game being destroyed by power creep and surprise, it feels just as bad so one way or another bungie has to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Do the fun thing and sit on the side lines while bungie does their thing.

BungLe doesn't care.

Testify! The power fantasy of Destiny is dead! Bungie killed it though their most tenured and loyal fans have been pleading for them to stop. Bungie has taken their ball and gone home! Game over! We were starting to have too much fun and they won't put up with that!

i think you mean it’s TOO restricting

"Is there any need for a vandal to take 2-3 hand cannon crits." Some d1 vet.

Supposedly there will be a new subclass and new enemy with the new dlc but lets be honest, the game struggles to operate now, wait till these new codes are introduced and it will be a miracle if anyone is able to stay connected to the game.
-
That's not the stuff I would call monotonous. Bungie seems to think that maintenance and dismantling gear is a feature.

I look at it like this . When I was younger I collected panini stickers . To fill one yearly album cost on average £700 The amount of duplicates was another job of swapping with friends until you got the ones you needed this is similar to destiny in some ways except for the cost . You don’t know you’re born.
