First, let me start with saying I'm a new-ish player (around 1 month) and that I really don't know much. With that being said, in my humble opinion, being thrown into a Crucible match with an unequal number of players on each team is frustrating, unfair, and not fun. The mode doesn't matter to me, nor the team I'm on. I don't like having an extra player (or three) and I don't like playing against an extra player (or four). I find it boring and a waste of time. Don't get me wrong, I'll take a free win in Survival, but that doesn't mean I enjoy playing a 3v2 or 3v1.
My problem isn't as much with people leaving (although that is a problem), but with a match starting in an unfair and unbalanced state. It kills my desire to play when I'm on the losing side, and bores me to death when I'm on the winning side. I honestly feel that it's not unreasonable to ask that teams have an equal number of players from the start, and that a match cancels if someone leaves before a match begins. To me, it is absolutely insane and confounding that a game can start with a 5v3, instead of a 4v4. I would rather wait to get a quality match, rather than suffer through these garbage matches.
That's really everything I wanted to say. End pseudo-rant, I guess?
