Does Bungie even playtest ANYTHING in this game anymore?

I am directly asking Bungie this, because this season, out of all of all the other seasons, feels like nobody at the studios tried to playtest anything this season. This is beyond infuriating. This is beyond disgusting. I am in legitimate awe that aspects of this season have come to pass. I have been a player of Destiny since D1 Vanilla, and I am finally at the point where I am regretting buying this season. First off, the main focus of this season is the Seraph Tower public event. A public event, one that seems to be designed for multiple people, which is BS if you want to ever play solo. I don't want to have to rely on randomly loading into an game instance where I hope there are enough people there. Even the times I load in with a full Fireteam, its a GD public event, where even with 3 people that isn't enough to complete it more often than not. Which brings me to my second point. The Seraph Tower event is so unfathomably poorly designed, I cannot believe anyone at the studio attempted to play it before it was released. Wave after wave of enemies spawn in multiple directions, and as soon as they spawn, they make it their one goal in life to stand on the plates and ruin my day. Bullets don't stagger them, AoE effects don't deter them, and god help you if a Yellow Health Heavy Shank is flying your way and you don't have a heavy weapon at the ready. With Hive it wasn't so bad, it actually felt like there was a good balance between challenge and ease of play. Not with the Fallen. As I am writing this, I am attempting to do 4 Seraph Tower events for the Weekly Bounty, and even though I was playing with 5 other players over 1000 power, we came across multiple rounds that were literally unbeatable. We were constantly swarmed on all sides by INVISIBLE, ORANGE HEALTH FALLEN, that booked it to each tower the moment they spawned in. We physically could not kill them quickly enough to succeed at the event. We were spamming heavy ammo weapons and AoE effects at these things, but because of the stupid "insect scuttling while invisible" BS we have to deal with, we consistently failed to keep the plate clear. At this point in writing I am the only one left of the randoms that started attempting this event, because they decided to leave after we kept failing due to poor game design. Now I have to rely on luck again to find more team mates. Who in their right mind looked at this, thought to themselves "Yep, this is good", and released it to the wild? And don't get me started on the 'daily bunker clearing', or even the Legendary Lost Sectors, that has caused enough frustration to warrant it's own post. I have a lot of patience for this game, it's gotten me through a lot in my life, but this season is making me questing if Bungie knows what they're doing anymore.

  • With Stadia they might begin playtesting for the first time since D2's launch. Doubtful since it costs money, and Luke Smith isn't about spending only collecting. That and he can't be bothered to do anything himself and has other's do his job for him, like his Scarab Lord runs, where he let other's play his account. Which says he cheated to get a title. Kinda like taking over bungie.

  • I think they do in fact but the “problem” is that they play in a controlled environment with each other, they could add public test servers to actually see how stuff is, usually something gets changed and they let it run wild for a while unless it hurts them directly.
