The catalyst is not healing me faster... I think its bugged... what do you guys think? And why can't you guys add something better to the catalyst then the lame healing perk that do not work at all!
-
The Catalyst doesn't work due to the games logic. It does a regen effect rather than a fixed heal... but the games code prioritizes that when you get damaged you stop healing which in turn with Tommy's Matchbook burning you... You don't heal. Kinda dumb, not like it matters anyway the exotic is kinda trash like Symmetry atm. At least Tommy's Matchbook is nice in PvE at least unkike Symmetry which is useless everywhere.

Edited by SIERRA - 117: 4/2/2020 9:30:37 PMThe catalysts should been something along the lines where if you get kills while burning then the gun restores your health completely. So that way if you decided to take this in PvP and win a 1v1 then you get your health back and not get easily killed off by your enemies best friend crouching in the back.
-
It burns shields and regenerates health. Shield is white bar, health is red. It basically just gives you a tiny bit of extra survivability.
-
1 ReplyGiven $10 exotic gets worse every season. In summer we will have a gun that gives opponents wallhacks and a damage buff against you in pvp when equipped.
-
6 Repliesthe problem with Tommy's Matchbook is it doesn't really matter if you have the catalyst or not. the gun is just not good for really anything besides patrols. it was just painful using that gun to get the kills to finish the catalyst. i notice a pattern here. tommys matchbook, just like Symmetry before it are just subpar weapons. Erianas vow would be just as bad... but it has the barrier mod perk which at least gives some sort of reason to use it.
-
Yeah I thought the same ! I didn’t regain my health any faster? I like the gun but it just doesn’t feel effective .
-
It’s healing your health, not your shields, the little red blip at the end is your actual health... I agree, the catalyst is kinda useless, I would like to see pulse monitor, and eye of the storm added as a alternative...

1 ReplyEvery season pass weapon is a joke man.
-
I was definitely disappointed
-
It heals your health, not your shield. It’s working fine
-
6 RepliesI was describing Tommy’s Matchbook to a friend last night as “a shitty Riskrunner that hurts you instead of giving you an arc shield” 😂
-
It’s working fine. It heals your health, not your shield.
-
Tommys matchbook heals the red portion of your health. The burn doesn't kill you, it only eats your shields (the white portion)
-
It increases recovery for your health, not shields. Health is the red but btw. Also, this gun intrinsically has really good hipfire accuracy, as good as, and in some cases better than, ADS accuracy. This gun is designed to be fired from the hip, and is essentially if touch of malice and last word had a child.
-
It's just a dumb gun in general because it damages you and does even more damage to you if you are zoomed in therefore pretty much forcing you to just shoot from the hip and get only body shots 90% of the time. When it's doing the bonus damage from holding down the trigger and you are getting mostly body shots your over all damage output is the same as if you use the scope and just hold down the trigger in short bursts to get head shots. It's a niche gun with a weird play style and a pointless catalyst that takes 10 years to get.

3 RepliesEdited by NVMYGT: 4/3/2020 3:11:12 AMI only use Tommy's on my Warlock.... I can drop a healing rift and keep more health than the catalyst can provide. Nothing about dropping my health to a sneeze away from death is appealing to me.
-
Yeah I didn't really notice a difference. I do find the weapon to be really fun, but always need to use Devour with it.
-
1 ReplyIt's working like it's supposed to. Still trash. Apparently it doesn't really work until it hits your guardians actual health, which is somewhere in the red bar of your total health pool, the rest is your shield (correct me if I'm wrong) so it makes it very underwhelming.
-
6 RepliesThe catalyst works, but it sucks. It should just remove the burn completely
-
Only reason to get the catalyst is for orb generation in pve. I'd personally take Misfit or Valakadyn for pvp over Tommy.
-
Better than lumina or skyburners.
-
Edited by JeremyCuddles: 4/3/2020 3:05:33 AMCatalyst works. Problem is it's not a must have exotic for either PvP or PvE. It's good in both but it won't blow you away. The healing mechanic is nice for the Seraph event and strikes and even for Gambit (although for Gambit you'd rather have Xenophage) because it keeps you from being in one shot range. But not much beyond that. The catalyst is all but irrelevant in Crucible. It's a neat gun but not gonna be a meta staple in any activity.
-
This weapon is has a hidden hipfire mechanic. Try hip firing in pvp and it becomes quite good.
-
It works. It just heals you, it doesn't regen shields.
-
I think it's fine as a catalyst. Bare in mind it's health recovery while Ignition Trigger is active, not hit-point recovery. It's basically just meant to be a top-up mechanic if the player character dips down into their health after their shields drop, since the weapon at base just burns away the characters shields.
