A long-time "Casual player" says goodbye to Destiny 2

Though I doubt anything I say will make any difference, a small hope is harbored that perhaps future developers possibly reading this might avoid the (IMO) mistakes Bungie has made with Destiny. Even if it's just me getting these things off my chest, that's fine too. *shrugs* lol. I'm not a new player either; got the game (D2) at the beginning, left for a bit when Warmind came out, came back around the first Dawning, I think? Got an "annual pass" with Shadowkeep, and so there's a season after this, but heck with it, I'm done. Just letting you know I'm not someone who just got the game 3 months ago. I'll avoid a big spiel about boss/"mini"boss bullet sponges, that can cut -you- down in a second with -their- bullets, while given full immunity shields by other enemies, while teleporting around so much you can barely hit them anyway, while -regenerating health- ("champions"), and knocking you off the map, while your most powerful move takes a tick mark off their health and takes 4-5 minutes to recharge, and timers, and death wipes, etc.etc, ad nauseam. Don't waste your time responding, "Are you doing this-or-that? blah blah blah", because as you can see, I'm not bothering saying "Yes, I'm doing this-or-that, blah blah blah." This is the cue where some of you might say, "giT gUuD fiLtHy cAsuAl", and I might say, "giT GUud" at finding a job, no-life, NEET, nerd 'sweatlord'; but let's skip all that, shall we? I know I am, trololol *grins* The -point- is, D2 is a chore, and not fun, to -me-. And all the "giT guUd" posts you can type won't change that, what? So on to the undeniable, objective issues. Increasing bugginess- Yes D2 gave me a few "kick to orbit" errors the 1st week, but then it was smooth sailing until I left when Warmind hit. Since I've come back, the bugs have been gradually increasing, interfering more with the game. In fairness, this seems to be an issue across recent gaming, and Bungie isn't Bugthesda (yet?). "Fallout76 OMEGALUL" as the Twitch chat Netkidz(tm) would say. Still, there is -no excuse- for poor quality, -none-! Shrinking player base- The last couple seasons especially, I've been by myself on map sections for increasing time periods, even on the one time busy EDZ. It's been -more- noticeable this season, since one of it's activities is a modified public event. I remember heading out to the EDZ seraph tower for the first time, thinking, "This is a seasonal activity, right? There's -bound- to be someone there!" *Crickets* I was the only one there, waited a bit, but had to come back later. Yes, was able to do it later, but it was an inauspicious, and chilling, start. O_o For an "always multi-player online" (read: subscription MMO model) game, this can "gatekeep" content, so is an acute problem. Design stuff I -still- think future developers should avoid: Destiny 2 maps have waaaaaayy too many death drops. One or more of the map designers seem to have an morbid fetish for heights, or making people fall off from them. I'm actually concerned for their mental health. I'm dead serious, it's so prevalent, I think they may need psychological help. I don't know who or where they are, but not sure I want them knowing who or where -I- am, either. If I knew we were in the same room, don't think I'd turn my back on them. O_o Oh, and it's also very, -very- annoying game-wise, too. Gotta say, I was not into gaming during the big platforming era, still, I think Destiny proves that FPS + platforming = bad, bad, move. Don't do it, future developers! Not being able to re-load while sprinting: Come on then! you could do that even back in Borderlands 1, lol! Likely any other FPS I've played iirc, but definitely most of them. Yet you can re-load during your floaty, space magic jump? It seems like a small thing, but it's been a constant annoyance that I've wanted to get off my chest. Your ammo stocks disappearing when you switch equipped weapons: This is absolutely -asinine-! I can't think of -any- other game I've played that's done this; not just FPSs, but -any- genre that's used consumables/ammunition, etc. I can't think of a single, legitimate reason for it, it's ridiculous! Do NOT do it future developers! Right then, I'm off to kiss my clan goodbye in game -and- on Discord, then delete D2 from my system. Carry on!
