Why is Luke smith still a part of decision making? This game isn't fun.

It's time for a change. Grindy mehanics for hardcore players is fine. Grindy mechanics for seasonal content is lazy. No new pinnacle weapons, lazy. No iron banner weapons, lazy. I'll create new Iron banner weapons for you free of charge. You've already reskinned half of D1. Can i submit artwork? Eververse has more content every seaon though. i thought getting rid of Activision would help the game. So much for that!

  • The problem is the way d2 is being run lets bungie make all the muney it wants without haveing to keep people Happy yes thats right sessions is killing destiny2 back in destiny1 bungie wood release 1 dlc a year and had no session or battle pass and cosmetics r rng in game or in game shop so a year the community was not haveing fun was a year bungie was not going to make all the muney it wanted but now in d2 destiny2 is run on sessions and has session pass and a in game shop that gets 150 new cosmetics a session so bungie gets all the muney it wants form the first session of every dlc and bungie have no need to work hard to make us Happy and now bungie uses the destiny content volt to control what we play

  • His job is to make money for the guys who own Bungle. Being a private company we have no idea what the profits are, but if they are high enough then his bosses will be happy with what he’s doing. What we think is irrelevant.

  • Free to play plus micro transactions is a way of future gaming bro. People then defend seasonal content by saying it's only 10 bucks blah blah blah... Destiny is catering to whoever hands over cash and it's becoming more obvious with every season where the revenue is coming from, the only place they are investing in, eververse first and then seasonal content second.

        • But don't forget the EverVerse store. It's got loads of rewards. You can buy a 10 dollar emote! I cant believe Bungie made Halo. This is NOT that Bungie.

To give him his dues, he has told us several times that - Bungo have no idea what they want D2 to be - making content is hard so expect less and less going forward - we should expect more grinding for less reward - we should expect more focus on MTs and other shiny paid-for crap If anyone is still playing this game after reading all that he wrote, that's on them tbh.

Here it is folks... THIS explains A LOT!!! OMFG!!! This explains SOOOOOOO much... Jason Jones, the Luke Smith of Bungie. So NOW, you know why JJ crapped on Joe Staten's work... He was a Scrubby Lord too. "After the release of Halo 2, Jones took a sabbatical from Bungie, not knowing whether he wanted to continue making games.[19] As Jones returned, his involvement with Halo began to diminish,[19] as Jones tended to 'dislike' sequels.[20] He desired to build a new intellectual property.[21] Jones worked closely with colleague Jaimie Griesemer who was working on his own internal project named "Dragon's Tavern" which Griesemer described to be a "third person fantasy game"[21] In the end however, Jones had the most power at Bungie, despite not being the President he was the majority share-holder and his vision of the studio was his alone to decide.[21] In the end, Jason got his way with the studio's next project and worked with Griesemer to combine his ideas of "Dragon's Tavern" with what would be Destiny.[21]" "The writing team led by Joseph Staten had created a "Super-Cut" which was essentially a summary of the game's story-line. The super-cut was poorly received by Jones and the rest of the studio.(I don't believe this for a second) [21] Shortly after, Jones decided to scrap the writing team's work and effectively re-write the story very late into production with Marty O'Donnell, believing it was not feasible and almost impossible to complete.[21] Knowing the game was in peril with his proposed reboot of the story, Jones formed a group called the "Iron Bar" composed of art director Christopher Barrett, designer Luke Smith (The Scrappy Lord) and writer Eric Raab, an experienced book editor.[21] Jones and the rest of Bungie carried on to release Destiny on September 9, 2014, to lukewarm reception." LUKE Warm, too perfect... lol. Dear Lord, how many nitwits did bungie have working for them??? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Jones_(programmer) Jason Jones problem was, he was like George Lucas, he created this great idea and later had NO idea what it was that made it great... No idea at all.

Luke did good work on VOG and Taken King, but since then he’s been all talk and the game has only been sustainably good when he’s not in charge alone. He wants to make the game for Datto and not the core player base. The game is in the worst place it’s been since CoO and we know from his comments it’s just gonna be more changes no one asked for next season while things people have given feedback on for months and months aren’t touched

Agreed it's time for someone else to take the reigns..... but as long as people are spending $20 for cosmetics he's running a successful business model, which is all the board of directors cares about. He's to blame, but so is the eververse community

                • Because he was right. People are throwing money at their screens for emotes now. Didn't they make 300m in 2019 from this game? You can bet the majority was from eververse.

                • Who is this Luke? Is he the dude that always cosplays a dumb troll in the vidocs? Honestly though, I think Bungie are salty because a Skylander's developer created better Destiny content in Forsaken than Bungie did with vanilla D2. It seems like Bungie are doing everything they can to erase what was good with Forsaken.

                      • The only way i, a nearly 6000 hour veteran of destiny games, will even consider coming back is if Luke Smith is replaced by someone (anyone) who understands game development a WHOLE lot better than Smith. Games are supposed to be, first and foremost, FUN. And streamers make their money by showing off their “skills” which means they want the game to frustrate its players so they can step in to look “good” and get views.
