Let's be real here, this community is soft.
Players are already upset that they can't turn in their tokens because they can't get 3 wins before losing their entire card.
Can you imagine the uproar if there was actually cool loot that those players "couldn't" get? That's why the perks are bad. That's why there's nothing special for going Flawless.
We aren't going to get good loot for truly difficult activities until that portion of the community accepts that if they can't earn their loot, they don't deserve it.
It's a mean thing to say, but it's a pill that needs to be swallowed. I feel bad for Bungie that they have to cater to that extremely vocal side of the community.
Edit:
I see a lot of people assuming that I want a LH/NF or a Light Level Advantages situation here, where the strong just get stronger. That's not what I'm implying. I'm saying that for going Flawless, even in base game D2, there was special rewards (a different armour set for context (I'm pretty sure that was the case, I very well could be wrong)).
But in present day D2, you get your emblem and that's it. There's not even anything to collect for going Flawless multiple times. No universal ornament, no shader to go after, no exotic ornaments, sparrow, ship, ghost, nothing.

You are correct. Also consider that even if there were good rolls from high end activities (there are for some, perhaps not currently) it doesn’t matter because you can get a god roll from several basic world drops or even the gunsmith. So why bother trying for end game? This was a change from last game so players don’t feel left out. Which the community also does to itself. Another take is that they’re getting us ready for a new weapon system. Right now if it doesn’t have a damage plus reload perk, or reload, slide shot, quick draw, snapshot, or best MW for its class it’s considered trash save a couple unique perks for the few that actually use builds. I mean when all the loot sources are about the same with god rolls then none of them are special. There is also the argument of keeping the old sources valid so the new stuff doesn’t replace it. In the end there’s no making everyone happy. But they gotta do something to make some stuff actually appealing and so called worth it.
