Destiny has lost its way and is creatively defunct!
Hello Destiny family this is just an opinion. I hope but do not expect anyone at Bungie to actually read this, but it’s worth a shot. Look forward to reading comments.
I have been playing Destiny since day 1 of D1. And in my opinion this game is creatively DEFUNCT! So let’s understand this.
Bungie has dedicated an entire season to blowing a ship with Rasputin. And we have yet, another community style event about grinding, and gathering for mediocre gear! So this is last season, redux.
But this season the VILLAIN IS A FALLING SHIP!!!! REALLY??? So who was the villain last season???
Oh that's right there was no central villain ... again... just the cabal for the 10th time.
So the question is how STALE CAN YOU MAKE THIS GAME? IT HAS NO FLAVOR, AND NO CHARACTER! NO REASON FOR PLAYERS TO CARE!
This is the main reason this game is not fun JUST AVERAGE!
D1 had its issues and but baring QoL it was a FAR BETTER GAME!!!! STILL IS!!!!
Destiny creators need to do a serious introspective. The game needs to go back to its roots and get back what players LOVED about D1! Its fantastic story!
It has to have CHARACTER!!! We cared about the story in D1. The villains meant something and had real depth! As a game you have so many wonderful ways to make this game great but you keep clogging the plumbing with a bland story that no one cares about, immersed with reskins and awful guns!
Just like Datto said “I DON’T CARE”. Why would you when there’s no real villain, no story, to make the player come back every day, and make the grind worth it!
So what are we grinding for? Awful gear and reskins. Is that the best you can do?
That gets old real fast! I guess you didn't get the memo!
You could have sum this entire season up in a strike! And that’s the problem!
How about a Season about the Vanguard. Let us play Cade6’s, or the others back story. Have real Vanguard only themed weapons and armor that ARE EXCLUSIVES!
Get back to what made Vog and Crota great, unique weapons that you could only get from that raid!

Not one new gun from D2 comes close to Fate Bringer or the Mythoclast!
You had a chance with Dominus Ghaul. You could have given us a Raid like Leviathan with Ghaul Themed weapons, Armor and Exotics! How about a REAL CABAL EXOTIC unlike the sky burner’s scout that is AWFUL!
Kings Fall raid and gear was worth the grind and make us feel special when we got the awesome drops. Players really felt like immortal super humans! Now gear is lack luster Armor and useless reskins.
You need to make players CARE AGAIN!
You need to hire the YouTuber “My name is Bfy” and base a season and raid around the lore! No more of the ring around the rosy mentality and awful gear!
Take a page from the Marvel Cinematic universe. There is a reason it took several movies to get to the avengers ending! Make players LOVE AND CARE about your product!
You have D1 of which many players still play languishing. Revamp D1, give us another option. New content and call it something like “D1 Book of Sorrows” or “D1 the golden age”. You have all this WONDERFUL Lore and you never really use it in game! That needs to change!
There is a reason Skyrim is one of the best RPG games ever made! Bungie, you really needs to take a page and pay attention!
Destiny is a good game. But if you keep putting out subpar, meaningless, content like this and your game will eventually burn out.
I hope not but Destiny needs a serious overhaul!

I still say that Bungie pulls a Square Enix like what happened with Final Fantasy 14. Issue an apology, admit they made a ton of mistakes, take a long break to remake and revamp the game into something much stronger than it is now.

4 RepliesBungie seem to be way behind the times, the industry is realising that campaigns are more important than they thought. I can’t connect with a cut scene no matter how good it is. It was a mistake to drop the campaign, it was the only way regular players can form a connection with the game and their character, don’t talk to me about the “lore” I don’t want to read about the universe I want to play in it, be part of it, that’s gaming to me, if I want to read I’ll grab a book. I’m playing CoD at the moment and after that campaign I have more connection with my character in that than I do with my destiny character and I have thousands of hours in that universe. I take that connection into the multiplayer, I’m a bad ass operator, what does the connection do? It encourages me to buy operator skins and weapons, I don’t get that with destiny. In my opinion bungie have never had a direction that’s why it’s in such a state now.

Most Bungie employees are on their forums, reddit, and acting upon the streamers to make sure they are not unhappy. In the back office you have one employee, an intern from a university for assistants and secretaries copy pasting as fast as they can content from D1 to D2. There you go. Balance sheet audited.

Drip fed content, boring No raid, boring No bigger maps with turrets and vehicles, boring No Adept, boring Nothing but bounty farm, boring Half a hint at a story ie: mara, drifter, awaken traveller, uldren..., boring I like Destiny will smash out this season for something to do but I think bungie forgot the main reason we play games. Fun.

I made a post awhile back similar to this, im glad yours has made it. Destiny lacks its story, grind is a grind, but without a valid reason a campaign telling us why the jank we are fighting (not 17 billion lore pieces and a youtube video)... the story is like the glue, and right now the glue is just not sticky which is why we have the issues of bounty farming and the same places, no new destinations. Forsaken and the dreaming city had phenomenal mix of lore and story I think, Id like to see a lot more of that. Playing forsaken campaign avenging cayde as a now obsolete guardian to killing dul incaru solo in shattered throne was the most engaged I have ever been in destiny 2... again a grind is a grind, and in destiny it always will be but we need that glue to everything else, not mindlessly killing enemies to get xp for a fortnite battle pass

1 ReplyI just uninstalled the game last night and will be moving on to other things shortly. This game is so disgustingly corporate. It has no love or soul behind it. It's so disposable and throw-away that it feels like a pack of plastic disposable razors from the dollar store.

The only reason I can guess is they buffed heavies so much that they needed to buff everything else to a point they can damage tough enemies by making the game less precision oriented, and making larger enemies weaker in the progress. But that’s putting duck tape on a larger issue: way to high damage weapons and supers. Why is this? Because Destiny 2 had stronger supers and heavies, but no specials and less supers. Again, this whole game is messy patchwork to fix a broken base. I still love playing Destiny 1.

This is what happens when you let the voiceless decide what direction the game goes in. Similar trend on the internet in social media, they take 1 voice that a thousand might follow and take it asthe majority. Its clear the studio doesnt have a vision anymore, just trying to keep the players in the loop.

I would also add... - The Fortnite model had destroyed the game's soul. - They are slowly walking our power back to Vanilla D2 levels of neutered with PvE nerfs and champion mod limitations. Remember how NOT FUN that was? - The last good raid weapons? Yep, D1. - As to the low-effort, disposable "content" that is now getting trotted out? Why even bother? Empyrean Foundation was basically Cookie Clicker with an obnoxious button press time. I cannot believe that I once thought of Bungie as a top tier developer. 🤦🏻♂️

It needs to be sold to a real game developer. Its obvious now that without microsoft bungie is shit. Halo must have been a fluke and microsoft carried it forward.

16 RepliesNope While I agree that D2 has lost its way, a revamp isn’t needed. New leadership is needed D1 was a mess for a while but they finally got it right. Once age of triumph came round everything was as it should’ve been from the start and throughout All raids were top tier activity Trials worked just fine Iron banner was fine Factions served a purpose Vendors had dusty engrams so you could reclaim old gear Strikes were fun with different mechanics Crucible had quite a few modes on rotation each week Story missions and strikes had different difficulty levels Nightfalls has good modifiers Weapon and armour perks were good All classes were somewhat balanced The list goes on Then D2 happened and ruined all of that. And with each dlc it has got progressively worse(no forsaken wasn’t great, just better than the two dlc before it) When you have the people in charge stating openly in a vidoc that they don’t care about “joe casual” you know you have a problem. A company that doesn’t want extra customers is never going to succeed. So now we have clueless leadership that has no clue about games and is only concerned with how little work can be done for maximum money Honestly the best thing that could happen now is bungie go under. It is exactly what they as a company deserve. After nearly 6 years with this franchise, they shouldn’t be trying to define what it is or trying to reach its potential. It is the only game of its kind and should have set a high bar years ago for what others companies need to aim for, but instead they have become a meme and every new release they show more and more that they can not deliver on the hype they promote in their trailers It’s sad really because if they made actual effort to deliver good solid content, they’d make a lot of money and their players wouldn’t flood the internet with complaints But oh well, only two more seasons to go before the mass exodus of players happens

Well all I have to say is what season? Bunker is broke no flag for the lost sectors just what are we suppose to do? Trails is a joke unless your above 1000. I have made a huge mistake making this game a part of my life thank you for making me realize that it is not worth my time or my money.

6 RepliesI want to point out (read to the cabal part) this and last season being about cabal going for broke actually builds upon the lore in a nice way. They are exiled when they leave for war are sent allowed to return until they win. These two seasons really show that. Now had this been shown in game maybe it would be less hated but yeah there’s that. Not saying I’m happy about this season being about a falling ship but there’s at least a reason to look at it differently.
