Not able to join friends/Emblem blacked out/ Not showing friends online when they are
My friends appear blacked out and not able to join them at all i have to invite them when in orbit and sometimes it doesn’t let me join them when they are in a planet they have to back out to orbit in order to het together.

wow, 2 years later this problem still happens to me where only i dont show online for my friends its so frustrating. on ps5 btw

Same for me I can only see up to F. Are they aware of this issue ? PS4

Bungie please fix this issue. My clan list and everything else is good it's just no friends showing under friends list

same problem, pc platform, constantly having same issues, both party has to reboot the game to be able to seem each other properly. Worse of all its already april 2020, the clan list still not showing all clanmates that are not in your steam friend list. Games invite dont work as well, whats the point of invite then??

On ps4 I closed the application and when on the game icon it shows who is playing and gives the option to join session. I used that and was able to join.

I'm on ps4 the same thing it's been blacked out since the launch of this season. He's able to join me with no issue but when I go to inspect player it won't let me. Hopefully Bungie fixes this soon.

I'm on Xbox, this was happening with only my favorited friends. After making them just normal friends and restarting the game, I was able to join and see their emblems.

Same on PS4 clan list blacked out and some friends even when they are online can’t join them.

Same problem for us. You see all friends already logged in just fine. But everyone in the friendslist / clan logging in while your already online gets blacked out. Impossible to interact with the blacked out players, join / invite to fireteam, inspect and so on.

1 ReplySame for me, I heard that reinstalling destiny 2 might work? Will try and report back. But I had just recently done this when I switched to an SSD, everything was fine, but stopped working after the update.. so maybe it's just a bug..?

Signed back in, closed d2 and reopened and the 2 players that have been showing up black for days are available again. Hope this helps.

If I restart Steam fully he shows correctly in the Roster, but then I get Connection errors from the game world whenever I try to join him. He purchased Shadowkeep with the season pass last week and it was fine up until The Season of the Worthy started. It seems to be the case anytime I try to Join him in Orbit, on the EDZ, or In the Tower. I Shutdown my PC and waited about 30 seconds and Turned it back on and It seemed to allow me to join him in the Moon. Hope all information helps.

my name is grey for others all the time additionally, 30fps cap on game launch even tho settings state otherwise, also getting some error codes related to network issues while internet works fine

Edited by RepoMan: 3/15/2020 6:34:46 AMPC player here: This happened to me and my partner when we started playing again on Tuesday on 2 fresh characters, no idea how to possibly fix it for older characters if its an issue. Basically everyone in your fireteam needs to make sure they have done all the introductory stuff in the tower. In my case I had the black emblem and 0 light level showing up on my partners screen and it was because I didn't speak to ADA-1 in the tower as part of the intro. So make sure everyone goes around and talks to all the NPC's as part of the "New Light" quest and possibly picks up any follow up quests too and this should fix it. This also made it easier for us to connect to each other as we were having a really hard time staying in the fireteam because one of us kept getting booted out all the time but this may have been due to some general ropeyness of the servers in the past few days as last night we both got nothing but weasel errors suddenly and both got booted out. We gave it a few minutes and logged in 1 at a time and went into the tower. We then reformed our fireteam and went off to finish the Red War campaign and did a crucible match with no issues. When the disconnections do happen, they seem to happen always in the transition to an open area like the tower or the farm but we had them in the open world too where a campaign mission would finish and dump us back in the EDZ for example only to have one of us booted out of the fireteam and into orbit. I don't know if the 2 issues are related but there definitely seems to be bug in the New Light intro quest chain that causes your banner to show up blank and 0 light level to others and it also makes it hard to form groups if the quest is not fully completed. Hope this might help some of you with the issue. [EDIT] Nvm, after a few days the issue came back again so looks like what I wrote above doesn't have any effect.

1 ReplyI have the same problem with 2 of my friends. I show fine to them and they can join me no problem but I am unable to join them. If they send an invite I just get an error saying “unable to join target player”. I’m on PC, everything is up to date, relaunching and re-starting makes no difference. I’ve had the same problem with the same 2 people Tuesday and Wednesday.
