It's pretty ridiculous that an Exotic that is SUPPOSED to give you a damage increase is bugged so terribly on certain bosses that it outright reduces your damage.
So far my fireteams have tested it and it for sure reduces your damage against Kalli, Shuro Chi, Gahlran's Deception, and Gahlran. I've heard murmurs of it reducing your damage against Sanctified Mind and other bosses, but never gotten to it.
The fact that this has been a problem since the weapon released and has YET to be acknowledged by Bungie is ridiculous. Not only is it a problematic bug, but it straight up negates what makes it Exotic.
We're diving into a meta that essentially demands the use of Divinity, this needs to be fixed immediately.

5 Replies"needs fixed" doesn't work. It's either "needs to be fixed" or "needs fixing". Thus ends your English lesson for today.
-
4 RepliesIt also reduces the damage of certain weapons outright, like Eriana's Vow.

The crit bubble overrides the already boosted crit spot on these bosses. Simple solution, div the feet and everyone else aim for the boss’ crit spit not the bubble

Edited by YATM: 3/10/2020 9:57:31 PMSeems to work perfectly fine for me. Or is this something that happened since the reset/new season. The main attraction of divinity is creating a giant crit spot so that people can use weapons quickly without having to aim.
-
2 RepliesNothing I have encountered Demands the use of any gun. I get by with whatever I want to use. But sorry, I guess I can't join your elite fireteam without divinity.
-
Other than op not knowing why this is the case (not a bug) most bosses you wont use divinity on and enough people have it since its not hard to get that people will always have it on the few bosses it works on
-
2 RepliesThat moment you realize op has absolutely no idea what they're talking about after "testing" the damage without first understanding base damage modifiers to begin with. Amazing.
-
Works good for me
-
All 12 of the people that have it seem to disagree.
-
23 Repliesfor the two dozen guardians that actually have it, yup their right on that All honesty, kudos to those who've obtained the weapon, well done
-
3 RepliesActually hit their crit spot then. Wherever you shoot on the boss will give you the divinity bonus, it isn't just the bubble. Please learn how the game works

1 ReplyEdited by Gnar Dogg: 3/10/2020 3:44:13 PMI've heard it reduces your damage against sanctified mind as well. Was in a group with a couple hunters running celestial and said with divinity they were hitting 195 thousand crit damage and without they were hitting 225. Honestly I've always had better success just running that encounter without it seeing as all it really does is make the crit spot bigger and apparently even reduces damage. I wasn't paying enough attention to my shots to notice if I was doing less damage with whisper or izanagi's as well. I think it has to do with damage multipliers though but I'm not too knowledgeable on all of that.

Test video or it's fake news

Or you just try to adapt better. It's like using Legend of Acrius against the Sanctified Mind: you don't. For some enemies, that extra hitbox becomes a blessing to take advantage of. Minotaurs become a lot easier to deal with since they have a small precision spot in their bulky bodies. Or enemies that are very mobile can become easier targets. There are many examples just like that. It has its advantages.

Edited by Malygos: 3/10/2020 3:18:36 PMWe just used it twice on deception yesterday and it worked just fine now the actual raid being buggy is a whole different story the deceptions shield wouldn't break several times we confirmed by going to orbit and back in and it broke just fine. I've also had shuro chi be totally immune a few times

1 ReplyIt’s not a bug, you simply don’t understand how boss damage works. Every boss has a damage modifier. If the modifier is higher than divinity’s why would you use it? Divinity doesn’t add onto the boss modifier, it replaces it.
-
1 ReplyDivinity applies a bubble with a crit modifier, I dont know the number so I'll say x. Bosses have a range of crit modifiers for headshots, if x is less than the boss's modifier, you'll do less dmg. But you still get the bubble which is excellent for some bosses that like to move about a lot or have small crit spots. This, in most situations, allows your team to hit more crits (especially for console) and do more overall dps.

4 RepliesThey nerfed it so it does not stack with other damage buffs and such... That was a while back.

I noticed it too in all last wish boss last week

1 ReplyEdited by Swiftchao: 3/10/2020 10:10:52 AMFrom what I find you generally never want to shoot the bubble divinity generates with a sniper with a few exceptions (such as champions due to some precision spots being a bit iffy to shoot) since the bubble has it's own damage multiplier (which kinda sucks) that overwrites your current weapons multiplier causing reduced damage so if you can always go for the normal crit spots when you have divinity in use when your using weapons that rely on precision hits to be useful (This is just what I believe is happening idk for sure if this is the case) Also using divinity takes out a DPS player when you could use tractor or tether for your debuff needs and keep them useful for additional damage which might be what is causing bad results for Kalli and Shuro Chi on top of the damage multiplier getting messed up from the bubble I've seen/heard of ok results on the sanctified mind as long as your still shooting it's normal crit spot but I would rather stick to tether so you don't lose a person for DPS using divinity... as long as the tether user actually knows how to not completely fail the tether seen that way too many times You only really need to use it on this boss if you lack competent hunters For Gahlran I have absolutely no idea I can't explain that at all it just doesn't not work well some reason when other debuffs still work The only raid bosses I find divinity useful are gahlran's decpetion with swords and anarchy (might change with the sword rework so idk if it will still be good there) and the consecrated mind cause that boss won't stop moving for easy 1 phases But yeah they need to fix this it's dumb
