Pvp: Sniper rifles need to have a counter weapon?

Every type of weapon needs a counter weapon to keep it in contol. For example, shotguns have sidearms or sub machine guns, hand cannon and pulse rifles. Except, there are no effective counters to snipers other than position and map awareness. With the skills some snipers players have, a battle at close ranges combat isnt even an effective counter anymore, due to one body shot and quick draw and cannon. Furthermore, add in to the game unflinching mods, and it makes it even worse to counter them. Just looking for open and constructive discussion And, expect snipers to become the dominant special weapon during the next season due to the nerf to shotguns and fusion rifles

    • Well I can tell you that so far, Tommy’s Matchbook keeps shutting me down when trying to snipe. But then again, I’m sniping on these small maps from D1 that I keep getting. Well, I’m assuming their from D1.

    • Use an explosive payload scout and (this is hard to explain in text) stand a few meters back from the corner leading to a lane. 3 peak and if you see a snipe shoot at the ground next to them. _|.● | | L_ _| \○ In this terrible diagram the black circle is the player and the white is the scoped in sniper, the player peaked and saw the scope. The ( \ ) is the player's line of sight. The ( . ) is where the player should shoot the explosive payload. When you shoot next to the snipe it will flinch and turn to run because it can't see you.       • Snipes are eating up all the range from Long to mid and it’s creeping, as in getting closer and closer. It’s forcing PvP into shotgun/fusion rifle as the only other options, so even more of the same. Boring. Let’s get some variety back into Crucible.

      • Scout Rifles are nice counters in the longer ranges because not only do they do decent flinch, but they consistently do good damage. Or at least that’s how it should be, since the only Scout Rifles used are exotics, and a few legendaries such as Randy’s. This is because most other scouts have either poor range along with being a lower damage variant, which lowers ones flinch, but then high damage variants have poor stability and handling, which makes landing consecutive shots harder. Auto Rifles are really good at flinching Snipers, but it’s hard to do, mostly because Auto Rifles have either great stability but no range, or it’s range is great with terrible stability, save for some exotics and legendaries. And that matters especially with autos because you need high enough damage to actually flinch a player at range, since lower damage is less flinch, but you need the stability to actually hit enough shots to flinch someone. Bows against Snipers is equivalent to Fast Firing v Slow Firing Shotguns: one will fire follow up shots faster, but the other has a higher kill potential. It all comes down to the skill of the players. Bows also deal a lot of flinch. Arbelast, and to a lesser extent Linear Fusions, have a better match up than Bows. They can also OHK, and have high target acquisition. The problem is having to charge a shot, but as in the case of Fusion Rifles v Shotguns, you can charge up before peaking a corner and get the kill before they can react. Again, it comes down to your skill. But it also helps that it does a lot of recoil.

      • One would think "Explosive Rounds" on scouts would be, but they're damn near pathetic. I have Distant Relation (180rpm) with Full auto, ER and master worked range and I literally just play a couple games where I hit the first head shots and still get sniped.

        • The counter should be scouts. However there is hardly any flinch at the moment so you could be shooting a sniper in the same eyeball that he is using to scope in with and he will still land the shot 😂. I really like how the old Halos did it. If you get shot, you are de-scoped. Problem solved.

                    Snipers are mostly fine. The nerf to rapid fire/adaptives snipers is a good thing and they only thing left to address is revoker. Revoker has the scope zoom of rapid fires (35) and high aim assist/bullet magnetism due to its max range stat even though its base aim assist is in line with other aggressives. How to nerf revoker: -Increase scope zoom to 45 OR reduce range by 50 -Triple the time it takes for pinnacle perk to proc with a max of 1 activation per mag (free bullet at 0 to not count as a new mag)

                    • People saying to use a scout, have you actually tried this? I used to be a primarily scout user and it’s not very viable in this current meta. Getting the first shot off on a sniper doesn’t even matter, they flinch right into a headshot. 90% of the time they get the kill.

                      • Jump shooting jotunn is the ultimate sniper counter. Plus they're ads takes to long to get out of to dodge jotunns in time. Top tree dawnblade is nice Cuz u can launch it from max height and jotunns tracking voids the in air accuracy penalty so you don't even have to waste your grenade. Your welcome.
