Make outbreak and whisper catalysts slightly more accessible.
Just hear me out for a moment. I do not wish to disrespect those who did put in the time to get the catalysts. However, it is my wish that these specific catalysts become more available.
My solution is simply to complete the regular missions to get the weapons, then complete the heroic missions [b]ONCE[/b] to get the catalysts.
Next step is to kill x amount of a certain alien race to complete that catalysts. So for example you need to kill lets say 2000 fallen enemies with outbreak perfected to complete its catalyst. Or get 500 precision kills on taken enemies for the whisper catalyst. What did you all suggest?
Here is my reasoning. I personally think that grinding several weeks for catalysts that only make the weapons deal slightly more damage Is a waste of time period!
I understand that you can solo the heroic missions with practice and I understand that with a fireteam and good understanding of the jumping puzzles in the missions you shouldnt have that much difficulty. Anyways that's just my two cents feel free to comment below and tell me what you think.

3 Repliesits 4 weeks 3 if you wanna pass through some puzzle solving for outbreak or open chests in whisper. Im just glad its not something like the unbroken seal where you have to wait 3 seasons or chronicler which you have to wait 33 weeks for a simple title above your username

1 ReplyHave you used Whisper’s catalyst -it adds about 30k a shot until you break aim. If you land your shots, the bonus damage alone is more than most weapons can put out.

Yeah I couldn’t be arsed with the outbreak, fair enough having it take three runs but to have us wait for weekly before doing the next run is a joke.

I got the Outbreak catalyst two weeks earlier with the puzzle thingy you had to do. I do agree that it shouldn’t be spread out for five weeks, but I don’t think the method of obtaining the catalyst should be changed.

Whisper and Outbreak catalysts don’t deal “slightly more damage”, they make each weapon, which are both already very good, even with whispers nerf, in high end activities, into weapons which have a very serious impact on high end activities. Literally every other catalyst in the game is what you’re proposing these ones should be. They’re also both attainable solo. Whisper very easily, but takes a long time, and outbreak which doesn’t take a long time but is far more difficult than whispers. Lfging a team both vastly reduces the time to attain for whisper, and vastly reduces the challenge for outbreak. Things being harder or longer to get is the trade off for choosing to play solo. I don’t see anything unfair or unreasonable about that. I’ll also point out that I’m saying this as an exclusively solo player. My life circumstances, I won’t bore you with the details, dictate that. And even as a fairly ardent critic of the direction the game is going in, I’m still appreciative that the only gear that’s realistically unattainable as a solo player of my average to below average skill level is raid gear, which should never be attainable solo anyway.

Whisper is very obtainable solo. Just takes forever. At this point the biggest difficulty hump is finding people on an LFG to do it. In this game it always pays to do things ASAP for that reason. I understand the other side that something should be do to counter that. Not sure what it should be without it being too easy. Btw the whisper catalyst is a significant upgrade.

4 RepliesWhisper and Outbreak catalysts are perfect. They’re difficult to obtain when they first come out and become easier and easier as time goes on. The power requirements are ridiculously low now.

Outbreak cat is not worth the grind cause it is same useless kinetic slot exo like the most kinetic slot exos. Outbreak and bad juju are just vault guns with too less dps. There are better alternatives which are easier to get and do not even need exo slot.

3 RepliesI'm with the OP The catalyst are too much of a time gated grind to earn, especially when the weapons s are 2 years old at this point. Why limit my playing when that's the goal of making your game. Luke Smith is a -blam!-. As a solo player, I can't complete these weapons which is poor design. and lfg is straight up full of "need gjalahorn" asshats. Won't use it ever again.

That what I do Whisper- Collecting materials from chest Solo to oracles and open chest LFG full run Outbreak- It really hard if you no want to do puzzles that fine just complete heroic each weeks

Nah. Slightly more damage is an understatement, especially for Whisper. Catalysts that are so useful and powerful shouldn’t be easy to get and should require mastery of the activity, not just one lucky completion. Having to strive for a lot of the good catalysts like Sleeper, Whisper, Outbreak, Bad Juju, etc. makes you value the effort you had to put in to get them and makes you feel like you accomplished something meaningful, something which is already severely lacking in this game. Let’s not strip away even more of that.

Whisper wasn't bad. Outbreak 3-5 times was a nightmare though.

5 RepliesI’m terrible at jumping puzzles. You’d more than likely struggle to find someone that’s worse than I am. I got Whisper, it dropped when I was still stuck in the jumping puzzle. A friend that had invited me in (yeah, they know how bad I am) and a random, skilled player he had been talking to completed it. I did contribute to the Outbreak Perfected completion, I had problems with the jumping puzzle stuff in there but did get to the end fight and did help complete it. I haven’t tried for either catalyst (I have the Sleeper Simulant catalyst as well, that remains incomplete). I’m not able to get through the missions solo and don’t want to burden two other people.
