Bungie's philosophy, according to their own claims, is "play the way you want to play", and that is a great philosophy and I truly stand behind it.
However, by nerfing Orpheus you effectively severly limit what a hunter can be in mid to high end pve activites, which is what I mostly play. At higher tiers of Reckoning, as a hunter, you can effectively only play celestial nighthawk solar bottom tree or void orpheus toptree. Any other class would be underperforming in comparison and is a burden to your team. Simple as that. Now that doesnt mean you cant complete reckoning with other hunter classes, but if you do, it's probably because bubble titans, well warlocks and izanami's carried you through. This, as is, is already heavily limiting and directly conflicts with Bungie's Philosophy. To be effective, we already have to choose between 2 out of the 9 subclass trees, both of them even requiring an exotic, which ofc not everybody has.
Now luckily for me, I truly enjoy one of these two subclass-trees, void top, and therefore had the ability to actually *enjoy* playing reckoning or menagerie or dungeons or altars of sorrow or whatever. By nerfing Orpheus, you are butchering the pve Hunter, which is already vastly inferior to warlocks (although titans are bad too ngl) and efffectively reducing our viable subclass trees for pve mid- to endgame to one. ONE.
And unfortunately for me, I just dont enjoy the solar bottom tree hunter. I dont like the knife (although I heard its quite good in pvp), I dont like the solar nades and I definitely dont like the playstyle celestial forces me to play. I like the roaming nightstalker, not the solar dude who presses one button and is over with his super. This isnt the "way I want to play" and this goes directly against your own philosophy. As of now, this will most likely kill off any motivation I had going into Season of the Worthy, which is really sad because I really like destiny and was all hype just two days ago, when the trailer dropped.
This is in no way meant to be the complaint of a toxic hunter main crying over a nerf (although I might have worded it like that, sorry, english isnt my first language) but more of a notice of discontent if you know what I mean.
Thanks for reading.
EDIT:
It has additionally come to my attention that you are nerfing the only subclass specific exotic tether hunters ever had. If you run tether, you run orpheus. By nerfing orpheus, you are essentially nerfing the entire subclass if you dont want to go for a neutral exotic instead, which, again, is just another limiting factor

I had no idea these had been nerfed. I used to use these exclusively on my Hunter on PS4 and hadn't played in a year or more then got the game on PC but chose not to transfer. I was waiting for Orpheus to drop or for Xur to have them. The days turned into weeks, the weeks into months and as exotic after exotic dropped - no Orpheus and I joked with myself that they'd be the very last drop. Well, at the weekend I visited Xur having gotten every other exotic bar the Orpheus and finally got them and what a disappointment. Nothing like what they were. I'm sticking mostly with Assasin's Cowl in PVE and Way of a Thousand Cuts.

2 RepliesOrpheous rig also works on the bottom tree in case you didn’t know but it only grants players more arrows which just sucks honestly.
-
This is probably the reason for the Nerf. You seem to think you have no other choice. Sounds like the nerf is big enough to make you think twice now. Bungie has done their job by making other exotics viable.
-
3 RepliesThe nerf doesn't stop you from using it if you want though. Disabling it, like they did with the Titan gauntlets, does prevent you from playing a certain way

Edited by Erijian: 3/7/2020 8:50:34 PMAll capping Orpheus did was bring it in line with other super regenerating exotics which get 50% if you're lucky but never really over it. (Exeption being Phoenix Protocol) Super regen Exotics were a mistake tbh.
-
Lmao by your own admission titans and warlocks only have viable class while hunters get two. Orpheus rigs will be fine. Far better then ursa and pheonix protocol.

2 RepliesMy mate and I just two manned the last wish with only one-two punch and arc supers. So I wouldn’t say that nerfing one exotic is hurting hunters, especially in endgame content. It’s only hurting players that want to win by pressing two buttons and don’t want to actually play the game. Getting 90% of my super back 5 seconds after I cast it is over powered and I’d like to not be told by other players what to wear because something is so objectively strong that I can’t use something else that gives the same result.

6 RepliesI thought bungie’s philosophy was “Nerf anything once it gets popular, if people still use it then nerf it again”
-
Hunters need to stay in crucible
-
Which philosophy? They change narratives more than a baby’s diaper. They are constantly full of shit.
-
2 RepliesI've been running Bombardier's since they came out. If you have them you should give it a shot, they are the only exotic (besides Stomp-EE5) that I would wear over orpheus rig.

Sorry to hear Guardian
-
1 ReplyTitans and Warlocks got theirs nerfed so it's only fair
-
This is what... like 7 times it’s been hit with the nerf hammer!
-
I’m not a fan of what they are doing. Bye Bye Reckoning.

1 ReplyBungie's philosophy (at least "in house") has never been "play the way you want to play." It has never been something we've been allowed to do.
-
i haven't raided this entire season, but last season in GoS i really didn't see hunters using orpheus anyways. It was already nerfed to death its not insane as it used to be like in EoW days. On the other hand i am trying to make a good celestial build for my hunter but it looks like this is also nerfed. I went into a lost sector in mars used the bottom tree with celestial and the boss still had like half hp. This thing used to delete lost sector bosses.

1 ReplyAnything that is useful gets nerfed.

The.y changed the Rig for a SECOND time. 😂 I mean how much of an idiot do you have to be to not get it right the first time?
-
😂😂yea “play the way you want” as long as bungie are ok with it. 😂😂😂
-
I'd love an exotic that when I dropped a bubble, depending on how many enemies were killed with the buff on, I got super back. But I guess when you start at the max, and nerf something down, you're gonna have backlash. Expected...it was.
-
1 ReplyWhen did Bungie EVER live up to that philosophy!??? They seriously don't know what they want Destiny to be: Looter and shooter or nerf and neuter game!?
-
1 Reply
Bungie's philosophy, according to their own claims, is "play the way you want to play",
That's the rhetoric, but it's never really been the reality. Expecting candor from Bungie is akin to expecting a four-minute mile from whatshisname, the fat fuck ex-gaming journalist.

Try another subclass then? If Orpheus Rigs is what makes PvE activities fun for you, I can only speculate you haven't given the many other exotics a run. Celestial Nighthawk, Graviton Forfeit, Shards of Galanor, The Sixth Coyote, St0mp-EE5 and even Gemini Jester are all nice PvE armor exotics. I get in Reckoning you're looking for overall crowd control and orb generation, but with even remotely decent teamplay, the coming nerf to Orpheus Rigs is negligible. If you use top tree Shadowshot in the right places, you are absolutely 100% guaranteed to generate the seven max orbs for your team. Then they super and somebody else supers and bam, by the time your tether is gone, you should be extremely close to getting your super going again off of chaining supers alone. That's not even considering super energy gained from making kills and generating orbs from your weapon (assuming your weapon is masterworked).

Trust me, forums are made to make us think they listen to us. It's a psychological thing...

6 Replies“Super all the time” is not the way the game is meant to be played
