HDR Settings for PC

I recently got a TCL 55R617, and hooked it up to my PC using an HDMI 2.0 compliant cable. I've set the following settings in Nvidia's control panel: Desktop color deptrh: 32-bit Color Output color format: YCbCr422 Output color depth: 10 bpc Output dynamic range: Limited Based on all my research, these are the correct settings to allow HDR to function in Windows. When I launch Destiny, my TV flashes the HDR message, indicating that Destiny is detecting the fact that I have an HDR display. However, once the game loads and I get in, the darks are all super crushed. Like, we're talking zero detail. I know HDR is all about really bright highlights contrasted with really dark, inky blacks. But still. Furthermore, all of the colors appear to be over saturated beyond what would be considered reasonable. When I switch HDR off, the game looks great on my TV in SDR and all of the colors appear the way I would expect them to. The problem appears to be isolated to the HDR mode. For example, when I am at the farm, if I look into the barn from outside, it's just all black except for the screens that you see inside. If I look around, the grass all looks like its damn near neon green Is this a known issue, or am I setting something wrong? I've tried all the tips I've found online. Such as, disabling HDR and setting the non hdr brightness to 4 or 5. Then enabling HDR, and adjusting the white point as needed, and leaving the black point at its default value - however non of this seems to work. Other HDR content looks great on my TV, so this problem is not system wide - it's just Destiny 2 that seems to struggle.

  • Check this link https://www.criticalhit.net/gaming/destiny-2s-hdr-isnt-actually-broken-calibration-tools-misleading/ Apparently the in game calibration message is misleading, and after following it I had really crushed blacks too. This article says to put the sliders back to default, right in the middle under the N in "icon" and it should look much better. Definitely helped in my case.

  • This is the only reply I have ever gotten or seen them make on the matter even. You'll notice the disappearance after saying the suggestion does not help and doesn't make sense per the steps already taken. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/255263359/0/0/1
