This video was made before Bungie disabled artifact Power in Trials.
TL;DR: Why would I chase a carrot on the stick if I can see that it's moldy?

Edited by Hells Assailent: 3/2/2020 5:32:13 PMBungie in Destiny 1: We hear you on weapons becoming retired and don't want to disrespect your time so we are introducing and infusion system. Bungie in Destiny 2: We're giving your weapons a shelf life. It's gone full circle .... Edit: Used wrong version of hear like a moron. Had to fix it.

3 RepliesSeriously, they created the issue themselves and punish us for it because people like Datto want to run the hamster wheel of meaninglessness. It's insane, new guns don't even have to be "better" because that's subjective. But being different is concrete. (copying my comment over, good vid)

Love your username.

This was spot on, very good video.

Good video. This issue is Bungie refuses to staff and resource the game in a way that will properly support new and innovative game design (New sub-classes, new damage element, new enemies, new perks). So if you keep churning out the same stuff with slight variations, so-called "power creep" can be viewed as an issue to those that constantly want to chase new things. So instead of actually getting NEW stuff to chase, Bungie is taking away your current stuff and then forcing you to chase after basically the same gear that is re-skinned. If you have unlimited time (like Datto), this is no big deal. If you love Destiny but also have other interests in life that pull at your discretionary time, this is a terrible idea. It just turns Destiny into a never ending treadmill.

You make all valid points man. Another thing id like to point out. Lets say you’re a new player and you come across a weapon (within older seasonal content) you like and begin to feel comfortable with, at the point you are introduced to pinnacle activities you cannot use that weapon any more. This only brings bad feelings and bad experiences. Luke has no idea wtf he’s doing bro.

5 RepliesHonestly, you straight up missed a key detail. Destiny 2 has been since launch been scared of power creep since its inception. Take a step back and think about it. Why has raid loot, or pinnacle weapons been so... 'meh' and the best weapons in the game are slightly better than others to the point you can barely tell the difference? The only exceptions were pinnacle weapons but those got nerfed and moved away from? Well because once we got huge pinnacle weapons... we stopped using everything else. Mountaintop and recluse soon became the only weapons anyone ever used in year 2 for a long time because they were stronger than all the other balanced weapons. Sure, you have some slight outliers but are you honestly going to argue that any of this gear is that much different than other pieces? Of course not. Because Bungie has specifically designed all weapons to be at X power and not go over X power else you fall into that pit trap of future weapons needing to power creep on older ones. Remember D1 Y1? Without the power change there was no reason for anyone to swap out fatebringer as a primary, nor black hammer. Only reason was the power lockout of no infusion till HoW. Now think about the power level of weapons in Y1 of D1 and compare them to King's Fall Raid weapons. King's Fall was far less powerful than VoG or even alot of Crota weapons... why? Simple, because at that time they planned on King's Fall weapons not rotating out of the game. They had to stick around, but they didn't want those weapons to break the future content for D1 they had planned, so they were significantly gimped because leaving weapons behind was a thing. "But what about Age of Triumph they brought back all the weapons!" I hear you say. Yeah they brought them all back... at the very end of the game... where there was no more content being developed for D1 anymore. They didn't have that burden of worrying about power creep because it was done. D2 is clearly in a different spot. At the very least we have 1 more full year of D2 left with content planned in the future. One of the biggest complaints have been "make end game weapons stronger" well if they do that that slows down dev time because now devs would have to test each and every single weapon in an end game environment to see what breaks an encounter and what doesn't later on. That slows them down from making content, to them testing content on just weapons. So that makes me as a dev "scared" to release something broken into the game. Using Luke Smith's MTG analogy, MTG had a time where there were cards completely stupidly OP at release that basically ruined the whole diversity of formats to the point where they had to ban the cards (alot of them) afterwards following sets were signficantly powered down to make sure they didn't break the format again. IF Bungie were to make this change and end game weapons quality were to not increase in power, than you have a point. IF Bungie were to make end game weapons of higher quality, than their actions justify the means.

1 ReplySeems like they need a full overhaul of the weapon setup in this game. Not unlike armor 2.0, but not the same either. I think overall bungie is simply running out of ideas for weapon perks and combinations. We can already see the limits in our armor with regular vs enhanced perks. Its fair to assume we wont see an enhanced kill clip or rampage. At some point all the perks we have will just be varients in a new name, not unlike rampage vs swashbuckler. Im comfortable saying thats exactly why they have decided to move in this direction. I think they need to move away from static rolls for each archetype and let players find REAL random rolls with legitimate differences between our first and our tenth Better Devils. Why cant we find a max 100 impact Duke 44 that had a 100rpm and lower range as an example. Maybe a 73 impact Duke with a 125 rpm. They want us to feel like our time and efforts are worthwhile this is how you do it. The old excitement around Fatebringer or G-horn dropping are gone and wont return without something changing. And i personally dont think random 20 minute hidden events like Whisper or Outbreak count. They are cool in their own right, but they are really just small vex offensive or sundials, once you do it there isnt much reason to do them again and thats just a waste of resources and time (on bungies end) when you get down to it. *I understand the difficulty in balancing for PvP. Thats why there should be two separate sandboxes in this game. Dare i day its 2020, this shouldnt be too hard to accomplish.

2 RepliesBy this logic.. why even play to begin with? Eventually Destiny 2 will come to an end... Does that make it moldy? Does that diminish ever having played the game at all?

1 ReplyNice video. Good gameplay and well-stated points. Datto is Bungie’s lapdog. If they say jump, he jumps. He will never bite the hand that feeds him. I am less inclined to watch his videos lately because I know he will just vehemently defend Bungie and maybe criticise them for something small and ‘safe’ so as to not appear like the shill that he is. But props to you for keeping it real even after all those years. You read between the nonsense and fluff that Luke put out. And indeed, their reaction to feedback is extremely slow the vast majority of the time, just like with cores, eververse, etc. because they look down on the community and they think they know best, especially when they get to be even more lazy/greedy than they are now, as they confirmed that they intend to re-sell the exact same weapons after being ‘shelved’ and to stop making making seasonal activities altogether and focus on adding an Instagram filter to strikes while charging money for that crap. Their main focus is ALWAYS less work and more scams.

I would say it’s too early to know if the new guns are going to be good or not. These changes will most likely happen in September and hopefully vendors will have new guns in their loot pools

Good video. Pretty much everything you said sounds about right.

Great vid..I tried a diff approach, but ran out of reasons to stay, I play MW now,(Waiting for Warzone) the campaign is completely diff but it oddly felt like an extension off of the one I played in 07’ even though there telling a diff story, maybe it’s just the nostalgia. Still waiting on a new game that can make me feel like I did when I played COD and COD UO,But that was then this is now,I wish you guys luck in your fight.
