Bungie we have been giving feedback about level advantages in Iron Banner for more than a year now. It creates a very negative experience that a lot of the players hate. Now you proceed to put in it Trials. Why would you even think about putting level advantage in trials? All of the hardcore players would have an extreme advantage over the less serious players who just want to have a good time. Every time it's 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

1 ReplyPeople that are saying that other people just need to grind, wants this game to die. Trials will bring back old players, but not if they force them to do boring raids/strikes/gambit for HOURS just to play trials???
-
1 ReplyTrials isn’t for casual players. For gods sake can the hardcore community have anywhere that rewards their dedication and hours logged? Or does everything have to be snowflake acceptable?? Wah wah make it exactly fair wah wah!
-
7 RepliesWah.... I’m 47, 2 kids and a real job.... my artifact is plus 21 this season.... grind you baby... I’m assuming these posts are all high school kids who can’t play until after school and have to goto bed early..
-
1 ReplyLol. Imagine playing Trials to "have a good time" and not expect to meet the sweatiest of sweatys. I love your naivete.
-
3 RepliesTrials has and should have power enabled! Period.
-
100% agree with you. Power Level & Artifact in Trials is a HUGE MISTAKE !!!

1 ReplyEdited by Chubbums: 2/27/2020 8:53:01 PMThe reason is because of recovs and carries. Mostly the ones making money off of it. By enabling power levels the people, streamers, who run these things will have a miserable experience carrying low level accounts. Good they're getting screwed, sucks we gotta deal with it too though. No ez money anymore.

47 RepliesTo me, the power level mattering is crucial. Here's why: To begin, you have to accept the fact that PvP IS the EndGame in a looter shooter. No looter shooter can work as a live service without it (Division/Borderlands/Anthem fail as a live service). Given that PvP is the end game, you need to make it DEEP. Give lots of modes. They've done that. (Gambit/Rumble/Banner/Comp/Classic/Rotation) Trials represent the ultimate championship of those modes. In the ultimate championship, you must have power level matter. It does two things that are important for FANS OF Destiny. 1) Gives a reason to grind power level. 2) Allows a weak PvP player, who grinds, a slight advantage in the fight. I understand the negatives, as well. (1) High skill players who grind will be gods among us. (2) Those who can't grind are always at a slight disadvantage. To these I say this. If the REWARDs are special and impactful, you will grind. If you grind, you're doing what Bungie intended. If you do what Bungie intended, they will continue to innovate. Innovation is the key to the games success, better REWARDs, and future content that we all enjoy.

2 RepliesThe level advantage isnt that great. The last two Iron Banners I have played at over 1,000 light. Over xmas I played when I was literally 40 levels above some of the players. I still wasnt able to two tap or anything like that. I would see maybe, at best, a 3 or 4 point difference in my damage numbers. The only noticeable difference that I experience is that I can tank a titan shoulder charge (if he is running arc - solar will still burn me out).

I've got to be honest with you here. I've had an epiphany. With his armor, I've realised that Osiris is the chicken from Family Guy.
-
I agree. And this would bring a lot of players and if they’re gonna be at a huge disadvantage going in they’re not going to want to play it either. Just doesn’t make sense to me. I was so excited Hearing it’s confirmed to come back then this level advantage thing just killed it for me.. 💀

Honestly I was fine with it in IB, more or less, it's an event and it's 6v6 where a lot of the result comes down to player skill as long as the light difference isn't excessive. However having the same thing in trials would be terrible. I've been a paying player since the launch of D1, with every expansion. It's ridiculous that bungie is doing this as an incentive for f2p players to buy the game, but at the same time they're hurting all the players that don't just grind bounties non-stop. I enjoy playing survival a lot, I'm not the best player, but with solo que I did manage to hit 5500 last season. Add light advantage to the equation and now I'll have to fight at a disadvantage because I either don't have time, or I simply don't want to, play the game non-stop.

The pooch is getting well and truly screwed, Power level I can live with but not artefact enabled, I don't know why they did this, surely the best option would be to err on the side of caution, rewarding people with more time on their hands seems a bit too arbitrary.
-
My problem with this is similar to my problem with the retirement of legendary weapons. I'm a college student majoring in engineering. I don't have time to spend every week grinding power levels so I can have a change in a "skillful" activity. Something like Trials is supposed to be a super-sweaty test of skill, but power advantage just turns it into a mode where the people with no lives can dominate without trying. I hate power advantage in Iron Banner, and I'm going to hate it in Trials too. Removing the artifact bonus would help, but I still think that I shouldn't have to grind powerful drops to play a pvp game mode.
-
I dont mind light level advantage, as long as the artifact is removed from the equation...
-
Remove the artefact power bonus from consideration in the level advantages within Trials.
-
Solution is to have trials give pinnacle gear.
-
Level advantage is fine. Having artifacts enabled allowing players with a lot more time to get an unfair advantage is a bad idea.
-
1 Reply18 months to basically copy and past what they did in D1 but with some tweeks and they still cant get it right. Unless they fix this I might be done with this game for good. Literally the only studio more incompetent than Bungie would be bathesda and that is not a high bar to beat.
-
If Trials is supposed to be PvP endgame, wouldn't it make more sense to disregard light level and instead use Glory or Valor rank as the qualifier. Mythic and up maybe, or at least 3-4 Valor resets just to get in the door. Something that indicates PvP engagement of a certain caliber? Just an idea.
-
9 RepliesTrials has always had level advantages. Quit whining and git gud.
-
5 RepliesEdited by whateverman7: 2/26/2020 8:09:01 PMLevel advantages are ok, that's how it was in d1. Same goes for banner. The issue is the artifact. That needs to not be included in your light level and/or capped at 20. To keep the modes fair.
-
I think level advantages are a fine idea and experience in a pinnacle idea. It's uncapped level advantages that cause a problem. Make the cap whatever the non-pinnacle cap is for the season and I think that makes sense.
-
3 RepliesLevel advantage is a good idea if there is a level cap....
-
Do the math, level advantage means you have to use the highest levels to play. Meaning your gear has to be at its highest infusion. Legendaries are being capped, what does that mean? Pinnacles are gone, and a future where the weapons can be balanced easily for them.
