So lately I've been seeing tons of fan-made concept art regarding raid armor, dungeon armor, exotic weapons, Trials armor, and more. You name it, it's there. While I haven't been able to draw anything due to time constraints and trouble envisioning exact designs, I decided I'd jot some notes down for what raid armor could look like in Destiny 2 if it followed the style of Destiny 1 raids where you could essentially wear the skin of your enemies. Additionally, I also added the concept of what ornaments could look like if they were added in for raid armor, Age of Triumph style.
Beginning with Leviathan:
* All armor here should be repurposed. Instead of representing former Shadows, we should be wearing Cabal skins on our backs. Warlock armor should resemble a Psion and/or Councillor, Hunter armor should be based off War Beasts, and the Titan armor could be based off Legionaries or Colossi or Centurions or a mix of all 3
* All armor sets should prominently feature red Cabal scales and pieces of Cabal armor
* Prestige version could either provide a recolored version of the armor that would change the colors from Red Legion to Loyalist, or provide a unique shader that warrants the same effect
* Ornaments for this armor would add a ghostly/phantasmal effect to the Warlock armor to resemble the appearance of Councillors in Calus' void room with his giant head, add a gilded look to the Hunter armor as well as extra spines to resemble the dogs at the Pleasure Gardens, and add a Psionic Void effect to the Titan armor to look more like Calus' own giant head
Moving on to Eater of Worlds:
* Because this is a raid lair, not wearing the skin of our enemies is forgivable
* The current Leviathan armor — Fulminator, Ace-Defiant, Rull — would function well here
* Ornaments are earned from Prestige and add purple glows to all 3 class armor sets
* Ornaments would also add a lightning effect to the Warlock armor, a glowing energy blade on one of the Hunter's arms, and an animated effect resembling flowing wine coursing along the Titan armor
* In addition to this, the God's Will exotic ship could be added as a rare drop reward from completing Eater of Worlds
Spire of Stars:
* Again, another raid lair, wearing the skin of our enemies not necessary
* The current Eater of Worlds armor — Sekris, Feltroc, Nohr — would work fine here but they need major tweaks considering their unpopular designs
* The Sekris armor shouldn't have such bulky arms and should appear more Fallen in nature with the addition of sporting more regal colors, the Feltroc armor could use a bit more oomph and look more Psion-like with regal colors, and the Nohr armor really needs to tone down that horrendous bulky beetle look and shift to a more Phalanx-based appearance complete with a shield-like arm blade on one arm + regal colors
* Ornaments are earned from Prestige and would likely add a purple glow to all 3 class armor sets
* Ornaments would grant added Shank pieces to the Warlock armor that could glow purple and/or spark with some sort of electricity to really solidify the idea of the "Baron of Shanks", the Hunter armor could get a purple Psionic glow, and the shield-like arm blade on the Titan armor could glow an animated orange to look just like a Phalanx shield
Last Wish:
* The current armor, the Great Hunt armor, is already a decent armor set for the most part
* In a future Prestige version, it would be amazing if the Great Hunt armor could get some Ahamkara bones grafted into it. Additionally, the armor itself should take a page from the appearance of the raid bosses; Warlock armor should look like the Techeuns, Hunter armor could take pieces of the Techeuns and Morgeth, and Titan armor could borrow from Morgeth and Riven
* Ornaments would focus on adding Taken effects, though not on the Ahamkara bones; Warlock robes could fade to the look that the Techeuns' robes possess while their gauntlets end up looking like the Techeuns' glowing claws, the Phogoth arms from the Phogoth strike back in Destiny 1 could come back with a Taken-y effect for the Hunters + a cloak that looks like the Techeuns' robes, and the Titans could potentially have something similar to Riven's tentacles (either the small wiggly ones on her neck, the big ones more towards her back, or both)
Scourge of the Past:
* The current armor set is also fine
* A future Prestige version could focus more on the looks of the enemies and less on the Black Armory Family, featuring Vandal + Shank or Servitor designs on the Warlock, heavier Vandal inspiration on the Hunter, and Captain designs on the Titan
* Ornaments for this armor would add a flaming look to the Servitor pieces on the Warlock armor in honor of Ablazed Glory, add Berserker armor to the Hunter armor with a black and blue color scheme, and fully deck out the Titan armor to look more like a Berserker with a black and red color scheme
Crown of Sorrow:
* Current armor is actually well-made
* A future Prestige version would shy away from a Shadow look and more into Hive territory, with features of Gahlran and the Crown of Sorrow sprinkled in
* Warlock armor would lean towards a Wizard design but would feature a helmet resembling the Crown and a bond with that mysterious spider-looking symbol found on the inside of the Crown, Hunter armor would be more Knightly in appearance with the Crown and spider symbol making their cameo on the cloak, and Titan armor would closely resemble Gahlran in terms of the Cabal look intended for it + some Hive flesh to act as armor while the Crown would appear on the helmet and the mysterious symbol on the mark
* Ornaments would add neat green glows a la Crota's End (but less spiky), and would also feature an animated ooze-like texture similar to the one found on Gahlran's Deception
Garden of Salvation:
* Armor here is practically perfect
* There are 2 ideas for ornaments that could work well on the Kentarch-3 armor sets
* The first ornament idea is adding animated tentacles to the armor that look like the ones on the Consecrated and Sanctified Minds
* The second ornament idea is replacing the existing blue glows on the armor with animated red and black tree branch-like effects found on Nightmares
Please take the time to read this! I would truly appreciate any feedback. :)

It’s a reskin of season 2’s eververse set, and I am SO. -blam!-ING. TIRED. Of nearly all of the warlock armor being designed to resemble dresses or miniskirts. I miss the days of badass robes, flowing dusters.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. This is the kinda thing that Destiny 1 ended so well with. Amazing ornaments for those already amazing raid gear sets. Finishing those weekly challenge raids were rewarding and totally worth every single minute spent in the raids. Each raid had a ship. Sparrow. Shader. Ghost. Exotic exclusive. And a very memorable set of raid gear that not only made you feel godly while wearing them, they also looked immaculate. They were so prestigious. Not everyone had them, and those that did stood out from the crowd. They defined you as a raider and it felt good. Trials gear... Immaculate. The glowing ornaments, and the exclusive look / shader let everyone know, you were a PvP bad ass. Fast forward to the start of D2... Months after the Age of Triumph gear sets stole the show... We got the layout for the new Leviathan raid gear and it was the most painful thing to see since green gear in Vanilla D1. The prestige variant, same ugly gear, with a very faint purple glow. And just when you think it couldn’t get any worse... The eater of worlds raid gear said “hold my case of beer, I’ll be right back”, and completely destroyed any hope I had for nice gear. The concept Pekinaso has put forth is brilliant. These are all fantastic, and VERY MUCH NEEDED additions to the current lineup of gear. It may actually restore people’s desire to play these raids again. Because speaking on behalf of myself... As a hardcore raider, I’ve got 0 desire to raid on Destiny 2 anymore because the armor sets are all so bad, and aside from that, there’s really no raid specific loot to chase anymore. A strong focus needs to be directed towards the legacy raids, as well as future raid efforts. The way it is now, not only are all of the raids littered with bugs, and game changing glitches, the rewards are completely underwhelming compared to D1’s age of triumph standards. This post is a fantastic example of what needs to happen in order to restore some play in those arenas. You’ve got concept artists all over Twitter and Reddit just slayin it with armor designs that scream EXACTLY what the fans have been dying for since D2’s very first day. This post, and Pekinasos points are very much relevant and exactly what we need for current day and future raids. We may not be streamers, but our voices should matter also. As long time Destiny fans and supporters, I feel it’s time you definitely start listening to your fanbase. Especially with ideas this solid, and appealing to the eyes.

3 RepliesYou lost me at the first one. Why would Calus give us Red Legion armor?

2 RepliesTbh the armor for garden was alright but the reskin is unforgivable. I think the ornaments should look like an artists rendition that I absolutely adore: look up tosthage on Instagram and see what she drew for raid gear. It looks incredible and like something you’d expect out of age of triumph
