The change to backup plan
Everybody seems to be talking about other parts of the TWAB but I wanted to create a post to get some of the community's thoughts on the backup plan (BP) change specifically. I thought the change was a poor fix. Fusion rifles needed to be adjusted but changing BP to make the fusion operate as the worst archetype is not good. I feel like this essentially just gives all low impact fusions a constant intrinsic BP perk. Also, what happens to low impact fusions that have BP? I feel like low impacts could have been buffed slightly instead. We'll see if BP is a wasted perk now, hopefully not (I like my iron banner fusion with BP). What are your guy's thoughts?
TL;DR: backup plan was poorly changed even if changes needed to be made.

1 ReplyI main a fusion. I'm fine with it. I dont like Back up plan anyways. I'd rather have more range. I dont think BP will be a waste, if you still like it, it will still work, probably just not at the ranges you are used too.

I have over1,300 kills on one Erentil but I won't use any Fusions again in this Sandbox. Ps. They have the same flea in their ear over Contraverse Hold. So that'll be effectively removed too. Which will mean ALL THREE void Warlock subclasses are garbage. Sorry for the slight detour but this is the nature of the game when Bungie nerfs things past demolition point by listening only to the loudest voices.

1 ReplyFrom the TWAB: [i]Backup Plan - Backup Plan now adjusts impact to match the Rapid-Fire sub-archetype while active. - Charge time is now set to match the Rapid-Fire's sub-archetype * 0.85 while active.[/i] BP charge rate'll be 25% faster than the rapid fire frame's default charge rate, so around 450. Rapid fire frames will still shoot faster with BP without having their damage per bolt affected. Personally I feel this has potential to still be a very good perk. My elatha's (long zoom scope + firmly planted + backup plan) already a laser with zero recoil when I compensate for it. I'm consistently landing all bolts on the bursts on 20-40 meter ranges, so backup plan will still let me 1-burst folks fast come next season. The biggest thing will be the new effective range they set up. Where does damage dropoff start, how steep is it and what's the dropoff damage floor? These'll decide how far you can 1-burst folks when you're landing all bolts.

He change to backup plan is only for high impact. Rapid fire will fire faster than rapid fire.

3 RepliesI personally like the change, it means you have to be more accurate but if the guy is close then it shouldnt be too hard to hit all of them. It makes the perk more balanced to reinforce its roll as a shotgun counter instead of just a faster ttk across all situations. also they did mention how its the base rapid fire frame charge * 0.85 so even rapid fire charges benefit somewhat.
