Hello Everyone,
I am in a current state of disbelief at the moment.
I play top tree nightstalker quite a bit and have always had issues with tether and its activation time. It seems that no matter how I pop it, Im going to be dead because it takes too long to activate. I have been trying harder and harder to get it in place pre imptively but that is still not adequate.
The play that just sent me over the edge in IB was the following:
Map was burnout. I was at the left point if you are coming from B, (C I think?) and heard an arcstrider pop their super on the bridge. I launched tether into the little cubby where they would have to run through to get me and rotated back a bit towards heavy and waited to shotgun the guy.
He ran right past it, it did not activate, killed me, AND THEN was taken out of his super.
Tether needs to activate quicker. The amount of times this kind of thing happens is just stupid.

It also takes longer to get by default than most other supers. Please correct me if I'm wrong I use like 20 intellect at most
-
This has been requested many times. Bungie has since made the shot a tad quicker and made direct hits kill but not enough when compared to the pace of play. I'm sure they were fear of everyone running around with it (if it were as easy to use as some as the other supers).

22 RepliesPlease take the easy modes out. No supers.

46 RepliesEdited by Myth: 2/24/2020 4:57:03 PMHunter supers need a huge rework** - especially single shot tether... What i see every day in PVP: - Titans having the Fist of Panic with an everlasting knee... - Shield bash/Seismic Strike that can change direction once initiated - Suppression grenades - Burning Maul which now goes around corners - Warlocks getting a double dodge - Celestial Fire with amazing range - Shield on Handheld Supernova - Hover snipe! - Nova warp with 1278687123x teleport Hunters get what? A throwing knife with an animation that takes forever? A tether which is slow at connecting and only lasts a short duration? Roaming supers that can easily be shot down with an auto rifle? Been playing all 3 classes since back in D1 Vanilla - hunter classed has been ****ed the most. I'm not saying buff/nerf crap - but there is a lot of work needed to level the playing field.

Edited by Shrike22498: 2/25/2020 8:28:30 AMTop tree nightstalker to my memory is the only subclass in D2 not to have been buffed since vanilla. The tether one hit kill was not a buff, it should be seen as a bug fix, as a super directly hitting someone and not killing them was so ludicrous that I refuse to accept it as intended (even though I know it was). Tether is remarkably slow and weak and needs a buff. To have suppressor grenades as better than a super (faster activation and charging + demolitionist and being able to get 2 in some builds) is nonsense. It needs to do more tick damage, to be faster activating, and/or for the tether to slowly draw people towards it e.g. Pulling them out of cover, and/or to have more armour as it can be almost insta killed by two people shooting it. That someone hit by a super can just "walk out" of it is madness. Cue whiners exaggerating how op tether already is because they are scared of any super competing with top tree dawnblade or bottom tree striker.

agree , useful in Pve but useless in Pvp
-
I agree that tether needs some love. All the other Hunter supers are spot on.
-
The problem is that it has that stupid perk that makes your tether lie in wait causing it to have to register someone in it before it even activates the ability to tether. This was not how it was in D1 and even in D1 the thing had some nice tracking to it to make it a bit more forgiving in the crucible.
-
As a titan main I agree. Its so stupid i can Throw a hammer or slam before getting tethered.
-
Yeah this game sucks
-
used a tether the other night in IB when I head a maul pop, he ran straight through it, R2 attacked and killed me 10m away on a high ledge

YES YES YES!!! The time between activating tether and people actually getting tethered is between 1 and 1.5 seconds. Never mind you can continue your super for half a second after you're tethered. And with TTK's that are between 0.6 and 1.1 seconds, your best bet is to never use your tether super in PvP. That should never be the case. Tether is nothing more than a novabomb that doesn't kill and most likely get you killed. It should either make people getting tethered not be able to use their guns/abilities while they're tethered OR simply be instant death. And that maybe sounds OP, but think about it: Every other super in the game is instant death in crucible with the exception of bubble and well. And the tether doesn't go anyway, you can simply not walk into it. It's great in PvE, but simply horrible in PvP.

18 RepliesSure you can have your quicker activation. Just trade it off for not being able to kill targets on direct impact. Then sure.

8 RepliesEdited by Funky Osiris: 2/24/2020 2:11:26 PMYes buff hunters golden gun should get overshield and invis while firing arcstrider should get a speed buff and should get super energy while blocking nightstalker should have a invis buff off 80 precent and tether should cover the whole map hunters are the weakest class and always bene i dont understand why bungie keeps f ing with the hunter class like this BUFF there are barely any hunters left in crucible they all switched to warlock and titan hunters we need to join forces it could be over 😯

3 RepliesLiterally got a reaper tonight using tether to wipe a whole team with thorn and win our match.
-
1 ReplyWhen you can't handle your Cunter no longer being OP in crucible, cry on the forums.
-
man It would be nice if nova warp was actually usable.

Edited by DTAKthatGuy: 2/24/2020 7:24:54 AMD1 it was alway my main in pvp, I still use it a lot but the delay gets you killed unless you do a drive by. The delay sucks but my biggest issue is the red aura it’ll give off saying don’t come over her or I’ll get you. To be fair the tether shouldn’t mark the targets.
-
4 RepliesTether sucks. That comes with being able to go invisible.
-
3 RepliesAll super animations should be faster or not exist at all. Why people are harder to kill in the animation is also irritating
-
This.. So much this.. The night before in Iron Banner a guy Fist of Havoc’d me while my tether was already in front of him and i was in a “safe” distance.. Useless super if you can’t even suppress other supers
-
2 RepliesOups, seems like invisibility spamming isn’t enough for some. Skill gap right? Lol
-
All tether requires is once it hits the ground, it explodes like a suppression grenade. Then lies in wait as it normally does
-
6 RepliesEdited by AbsolutZeroGI: 2/24/2020 8:19:35 AMIt's a PvE move. You already have a virtually indestructible spectral aids, golden gun, and like all 3 arc trees. Use what you have, you have enough advantages.

1 ReplyI had, hands down, the best PvP kill of my career today as a Nightstalker! I was playing that Widow’s Map. An opponent and I got into a little tangle around a corner. He almost killed me with two shotgun blasts, I wasted my auto rifle clip . . . he switched guns and I ran like a little bi1ch as fast as I could. Me and him ran through the whole map! 😂. I can’t believe we didn’t get popped off! He chased me throughout the map, my rear radar was beeping red. I noticed my tether was up. So I said , fuk ii, turned around and . . . bam! . . . right in the face 😂😂

Yeah it does seem very situational at the moment. In close quarter areas it you will almost always die but take there super off them which ends up feeling like damage limitations. Dawnblade seems to be able to just fly over it with no problem lol. I think it needs a little tweak to make it more reliable for shutdowns, but like others have said we still play it as the neutral game is pretty strong. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s untouched with how strong that class can be in Trials next season.
