Then nerf enemy damage across the board and delete boss stomp or at least cut its damage and make it a long reload cooldown (7/8 seconds instead of the spam we get right now).
+ Make seasonal mods to promote short range fight, like the more enemies are near, the less you take damage, or something like trigger permanent health regen in combat if there are more than x enemies near you.
With Shadowkeep, we lost the ability to go all in, pretty much every major will 2/3 shot you no matter the resillience.
Balance is not only about our weapons damage output.
Edit : Enemy behavior about close range fight is just impossibly bad. From the stomp mechanic which in some missions while oneshot you, the oger beam that will either melt or send you in orbit, the taken captain launching orbs & teleporting around.
The game doesn't want you to engage in close range. It's designed in that regard. So please adjust that because players just won't use close range weapons, they'll just use another long range gun until it gets nerfed and nothing ranged is good anymore. Then they will leave the game when the only choice will be shotguns or 5 damages phases.
+ Giant servitor kill zone in close quarters.

105 RepliesThe team is aware of the large amount of feedback on the stomp mechanic. No planned changes yet, but it's something they are looking at. Thanks for the feedback on making enemies weaker. I'll pass along your feedback on reducing their damage and adding more survivability options like the season mod you suggested that would let you take less damage when more enemies are near.

I agree completely. Some of the enemy mechanics and health have ruined some of the basic game mechanics. The change to sniper rifles seems completely unnecessary at this point in the game.

Luke Smith has a stomp mechanic. Any time a bungie employee gets close and says ”Luke, maybe we should consider quality over slap and dash”. BOOM. Devs hit the glass wall face first and slide into the gutter........ Fact.

12 RepliesI was in the EDZ the other day and a boss stomped on IO which knocked me into Nessus.

I made a similar post. Close combat is almost impossible on any high end content and they nerf our only viable option with no consideration or alternative. I’d love to use a 1-2 punch shot gun, but I get stomped on spam and if I don’t die from the stomp damage, I get flung into a wall or over a ledge and die.

The servitor in goffanon farted me to bergusia with its, oh wait, it doesnt have legs.

8 RepliesEdited by zJDz: 2/21/2020 1:45:19 PMMost annoying pve things: 1.) The stomp mechanic sending you to another planet. 2.) the ogre I blast sending you to another gambit map or through the invasion portal 3.) the taken knights spamming their black balls of slowness and the knights teleporting the moment you aim down sites at them

5 RepliesBungie: “Say, why are people using snipers so much?” Some employee: “I dunno, probably because enemies do a lot of damage and every single boss or mini-boss enemy has a stomp attack (even if they lack legs) that does a ton of damage and sends players flying away. There’s not enough reward for the risk. This causes players to gravitate towards snipers since you don’t need to risk as much to do damage, but get rewarded just as much.” Bungie: “Well -blam!- that can’t be right, it’s probably just because snipers to far too much damage, so we’ll just nerf the damage. That should fix the issue.”
-
You forgot the E! You -blam!-ing forgot the E!

1 ReplySeeing how Sedia (and Kargen in an indirect sense) fight, directional stomps wouldn't be farfetched and would allow people to actually get in close. That and making it so stomps are capped at the waist or lower because there's no reason why enemies are able to launch you from shoulder height by slamming the floor. If you want to punish jumpy players harassing bosses then give them a backhand slap.
-
3 RepliesThe only time a stomp mechanic is going to kill you is if you don't melee to negate the pushback and you fly into a wall, or a modifer that allows you to take more dmg from melee or in air. The issue I've imagined is many of the fixes besides just nerfing one of the few boss abilii is to give us the ability to proc health regen or overshields on melee hits rather than kills. We have some of these skills and perks in game atm, and even things like barrier shields that negate slams. Swords have always been a really good way to shotgun a boss to. Using a sword to block, let's just hope they don't mess that up.

It is REALLY annoying that they DESIGN these boss fights to PUNISH anyone who tries to fight them at anything other than long range....and then PUNISH us a second time for playing the content AS DESIGNED. If you want us to FIGHT differently...then design the CONTENT differently. Instead of just BREAKING things so that we don't want to use them. Between the stomp mechanic....the "soap bubble" physics (I died in a public event two days ago because I was in the air when Spider Walker "stomped" and I got slammed into a wall THREE FEET behind me)....and the fact that almost every fight now takes place on an open platform where we DIE if we get stomped off? No one with a brain is going to fight these bosses at close range in anything other than Gambit. So this is just an out and out powergrab.

They HAVE introduced dampener mods to defend against stomp AoE. How many players even use them?
-
2 RepliesTrench barrel needs to be reverted as well. The only reason why it was broken was because of auto reload.
-
The boss stomp I get is a problem. Reduce its damage and frequency I say but maintain the knock back. However Snipers are going to ore Shadowkeep levels. When they were still useful. Izanagi was still great. Snipers aren’t done for. They just aren’t the best of the best (maybe) now.

Edited by Mini: 2/22/2020 9:52:37 AMI especially dislike these boop mechanics on the bridge in Reckoning. I consider them to be a waste-of-time mechanic more than difficulty, and I don't appreciate it when they waste time.

See!!! This is a good post! Instead of whining about the changes and “nerfs”, you give actual constructive criticism unlike all the trending forum sheep!! Have an upvote!

1 ReplyWord. That's why players shoot from a distance. They don't want to be stomped into oblivion. It's so damn annoying.

2 RepliesI just can’t get behind this company.

36 RepliesMaybe, JUST MAYBE, there are viable middle ground weapons. Sometimes I run an SMG, Bow and Sword in Strikes and Nightfalls and we can STILL succeed. I hate these "I want a cheese" posts. Already I've seen a few posted up. You new Guardians are a bunch of pansies if you're too scared to walk up to a Major and punch the shite out of them until they're dead. If you're skilled enough and time it right on their "stomps" you won't fly away. Goodness.

Just a heads up for anyone looking to see what bungie commented, just look at literally any post they've replied to and apply it loosely to the topic in question. Wow this is actually easy when I think about it.

I would much rather that. That way, it would make it more RPG like in the aspect that different classes would have different specialties. Like a close range melee player would be more like a rogue where your snipers, scouts, are more like your archers at range. I think that would make the game more enjoyable making those both as playable options. So I second everything about longer stomp cooldowns, teleporting taken captains spewing bubbles. Nerf all the shit that makes the game not fun instead of nerfing all the stuff that does.

1 ReplyYeah stomp has to get toned way down or removed.

2 RepliesPeople still can't counter stop mechanics? The only one that's a pain is reckoning. Which can still be countered

I got stomped so hard, it sent me back to D1.
