Honed Edge is no longer affected by reload.
All snipers getting ~20% damage nerf.
Adaptive Frame snipers precision modifier reduced from x3.25 to x2.95
After the serious grind to get this weapon to the full potential, this feels like a huge slap in the face, Bungie.
This feels really heavy handed, just like the nerf to Nova Warp. The change to No Distractions is very nice and I won't miss Outlaw, so that's appreciated. But why nerf it when it takes so long to grind for? It literally took me weeks to earn once I started the quest. I deserve to deal tons of damage if I can hit my shots.
Also, the idea that it's safer to use a sniper is just bogus. I understand the concept, but there aren't any safe places in Nightfalls, strikes, horde modes, ANYWHERE except raids with long damage phases.
Very, very disappointed. I finally got the hang of using it and now it's just another Whisper.
Edit: I do actually respect the other changes and look forward to seeing them in the Crucible sandbox. This was a huge glaring issue that I think Bungie needs to go back to. If everything performs at the same level, what's the point in diversity?
Edit 2: I read that people on Reddit calculated a roughly 65% DPS nerf for Izanagi. I already didn't like running raids or Ordeals but this pretty much seals the deal for me to never do them again.

Exotic snipers are excluded from the 20% damage reduction.
-
3 RepliesDidn't exotic snipers not receive the 20% buff when we went into shadowkeep? So removing that buff shouldn't effect them?
-
6 RepliesI don’t even care that it’s one specific thing. This is just one example of a pattern of disrespect to players.
-
3 RepliesNow you know how everyone felt getting whisper of the worm years ago when I quit. That gun used to return ammo to mag out of thin air on 3 crits and box breathing didn't shut off after 1 shot either. They nerfed the whole thing and ruined box breathing on everything over that 1 gun. That 1 gun that took a month minimum to get the catalyst done btw.
-
4 RepliesBetter go farm that god roll for Trophy Hunter with Vorpal, Triple Tap, Extended Mag.
-
Back to whisper of the worm wooohooo

4 RepliesEdited by Woz: 2/21/2020 6:22:52 PMGenerally I'm not opposed to shaking things up and changing up the meta, but I'm not seeing an attempt to change the meta or broaden the scope of the game here. Nerf Izanagi? Cool, so what's replacing it? That's the issue for me. Iza is pretty much the default DPS weapon for most end game content, not because everyone loved the gun so much but because Bungie messed with the sandbox to make it that way. Before Iza it was Whisper, before Whisper it was Outbreak and so on and so fourth. Every time the sandbox changed it was because changes to the mechanics of the game made one thing far more favourable than any other alternative. Now we have a situation where pretty much all end game bosses are geared toward range engagements, and Bungie have decided that this is a massive problem because... what? I would love to bust out a sword every now and then but given that practically every single boss in the game has some kind of crazy insta-kill stomp mechanic, that's clearly not the way engagements are designed. Every single boss in Garden is designed for a sniper rifle, they all require huge burst DPS on precision targets from distance, and now we're getting a blanket nerf to weapons which those fights are designed for? I just don't see the logic. I just joined a friends clan which is full of new players most of whom have never raided. I want to take them through stuff like GoS at some point when they've levelled up, but I'm now concerned because where before you could comfortably get through DPS checks with only a few Izanagi's I'm concerned regarding what the situation will be. Because I don't see those engagements working with anything other than a sniper rifle, and even with the changes I don't see how any other sniper rifle will be better than Iza. So isn't this just making Iza even more of a requirement for a raid like Garden? Aren't you just forcing 5 or 6 people in the fireteam to have it rather than 3 or 4?

1000 voices meta here we go
-
3 RepliesSo instead of using basically anything else for "hard" content. You just choose not to do it anymore because it's what...hard? Gonna take 2 more sniper shot to kill 15% of the enemies? Damn dude, you might be a push over.
-
8 RepliesWhisper is still good and Izanagi will still be good 🤦♂️ Also Firing Line Line in the Sand exists...
-
1 ReplyEvery op gun/guns get nerfed. It’s part of the cycle. Time to chase the new op weapons. Without the chase it’ll all be boring anyways
-
The thing is, in any case where you would really use Izanagi, you'd be getting the Honed Edge x4 shot in and shooting as fast as you can. There is no time for No Distractions to even activate, making it an ultimately pointless perk.

1 ReplyBungie: We Love Boss stomp! And we’re Nerfing PVE shotty perks! Community :Snipers suck! Bungie: We giveth you a sniper buff!!! Community: Uses said Buff! Bungie:We taketh away! Community:🤦♀️

Now I'm extremely happy I didnt get that gun.
-
Personally, I think izanagi IS a bit too strong. I dont think it should use Special Ammo and deal that amounts of damage. But they did over nerf it for sure.
-
2 RepliesMy only problem is why even make guns like this. Before izanagis even was released it sounded too good to be true. Four sniper shots combined and fired at once. Before that a nerf to sleeper and followed izanagis release was the whisper nerf. How did no one foresee that this sniper would be a pivotal dps weapon. Why make something just to take it away??
-
8 RepliesIts really not getting nerfed. One perk change and the 20%. The nerf really isn’t that bad
After the serious grind to get this weapon to the full potential, this feels like a huge slap in the face, Bungie.
yep

22 RepliesEdited by yafeelme: 2/21/2020 12:16:07 PMSo not a single person here, who's been playing destiny for years...didn't see this coming? A sniper that has ruled boss damage for about a year has gotten nerfed. Yeah, never seen this before. Totally blindsided!
-
It's so stupid isn't it mate its should body shot a normal guardian with 2 bullets on homed edge and 3 super it doesnt feel like it's the most powerful sniper when it's meant to be in the lore but yet there nerfing it when I dont think if it's this bad and you have to work and I mean work for it, it definitely shouldn't be getting a nerf
-
10 RepliesI, as someone not having the gun, think this nerf is needed. The amount of people abusing that gun literally in raids was annonying. Remember the time gjallahorn was a requirement for teams? I have seen such requirements with Izanagi and Divinity for fukn Nightfalls.
-
2 RepliesIs anyone gonna be mad that the annoying double reload mechanic for izanagi is out of the meta now. I personally couldn't wait for a new weapon to shine. It was such a dps killer when you whiffed your reload.
-
9 RepliesEdited by TexasBotHurt: 2/21/2020 3:21:36 AMThese changes are making me hang up my Ghost and go pick up my Division button. Peace out Guardians, see you when Bungie realizes that overnerfing their game doesn't make it better. It makes it worse.
-
14 RepliesWhisper and xenophage outdamage it even now....so it wont be missed. Also...the 20% dmg nerf was for all snipers.
-
9 RepliesI tried to get into a raid the other week, started my own LFG... got a raid team together. First question I got was "Hey do you have Izanagi?" Told them no, I have everything else though. Firing Line Snipers, Vorpal Weapon sniper, Outbreak, Line in the Sand with Firing Line, you name it... I have it. I just don't have Izanagi. All five left cause I don't have Izanagi. I'm sitting here, watching the world burn over the Izanagi nerfs in total... with some popcorn. Laughing.
