Remember feeling powerful? Yet despite that power the game was still challenging.
I feel like Destiny 2 has no power fantasy. It just grind this season pass so you can get some engrams and a exotic that you will never use because it sucks. Its boring and repetitive and honestly the loot pool is awful, All you do is re-skin year 1 weapons with random rolls. Where is the creativity in that?
Here is a bunch of new shader's that look like the shader's you already have and will never equip.
Oh great a new artifact with a couple new mods we can unlock and maybe use.
Raids that are actually a challenge. not a jumping puzzle, an encounter then a boss fight.
I haven't played since the start of January. I came back today hoping a break would restore my love for this game, but it didn't. I looked at the season pass and was like " there is nothing here worth getting " why grind to max rank so i can "feed some pigeons"?
anyway i hope those playing still enjoy the game but it seems to me like a lot of the player base has gone.

I had a purple circle that split into three projectiles upon throw and was gliding around the maps like a B52 Bomber intent on breaching a giant dome shaped dam that had three heavily armored tanks waiting for me and now I have this silly AoE thing centered on my body that makes me move slowly costs my energy to dodge incoming group fire and to top it all of my only offensive skill that matches my oppositions is a grenade that requires an exotic and has the longest cooldown.

18 RepliesGoing by the latest Twab, bungie is going for the anti-power fantasy by nerfing everything.

Remember the days before "power fantasy" and the game tried to be challenging in a fair way. Goddamn I miss D1.

5 RepliesEdited by Roach: 2/21/2020 5:46:47 AMI am not surprised at this latest bunch of nerf's, its just the way the game is going. Seasons are just a generic horde mode with a couple of sets of armour and a season pass with rewards like a massive five legendary shards. If you do find a set up you like its using its just nerfed down by the control freaks at Bungie who want you to play what they want, when they want, with what they want. This is yet more of their laggy bug ridden PVP being allowed to rule PVE. Twas ever thus. Like a lot of people I am jaded with the game. Jaded with the fact that Bungie seem intent on just malleting down what they dont want you to use, remember when they said that they could balance individual weapons ?? .. and here we are with entire classes being adjusted. If you want to know what is happening at Bungie right now go read the reviews from current and former employees on Glassdoor. If you still think this studio is worth supporting then fine, personally I am pretty much done. Next Season Pass is a Pass for me as I simply don't believe that Bungie are capable of producing content worth my time anymore. And top be honest the ignoring of the community, while declaring the opposite, along with their cash grab shop, the wokeness, all matched up to the deaf ear they aim at the faults this game has indicates to me this game is way past its best. Forsaken was the high watermark and its all downhill from here on folks. I took a long time away and recently got back in as three of my friends started playing in mid January, only one is left and even then he cant be bothered that much. Why are Bungie blanket nerfing everything when their game is still so confusing for new players, I had to take one of these guys to the Shipwright to pick up the Red War, Osiris and Warmind storylines. Nothing is explained. We still, despite years of asking cannot get bounties from orbit. But Bungie soon made sure Eververse had a tab so we could shop from orbit and that our character screen showed how much Silver we have. One of my three friends thought Gambit sounded fun until he played and found out that if you won the first round you were handicapped in the second, he quit the round when I told him how getting your primevil first means the other team get constant invasion and spam you with blockers. His comments ?? .. "So what's the fricking point in trying then ??", that was tame compared to him finding out that the Invader gets his target highlighted and a massive shield. The other day I started hitting an invader with a Hammerhead and took down about 75% of his shield with a full mag before he turned round and melted me with three rounds from Thunderlord from full health .. where the balance for that Bungie ?? .. there is so much of how the game plays that needs tuned but Bungie are too busy balancing how you play the game. Who is seriously looking forward to the next horde mode boss with regenerating health and a stomp move from 2104 that still catapults you into a wall for a mediocre weapon no one will remember in three months ?? .. This game used to be about building memories and feeling powerful, D1 had its flaws but I always felt it had a great community that largely loved the game. Now its forgettable content and wondering what the points is even grinding a weapon only for it to be nerfed into oblivion because the Dev's dont like some statistics. September is going to be a crunch time for Bungie. The Season Pass is finished and even if I did want to get it I would just wait a month or two and get it half price. Bungie are on their own now and their playerbase is disappearing as they blatantly funnel all their creativity into creating things for Tess to flog at ridculous prices for Silver that is priced so you have to buy more than you need. More shady behaviour from the studio that brought you XP throttling, the "we meant the 0.00000004 auto rifle buff" and the classic "more rewarding than ever two tokens and a blue". The waffle about making friends and memories just sounds like a hollow soundbite now Bungie. Its clear that you are lazy, greedy and more interested in emptying our wallets than making us happy. In September one of the most eagerly awaited games of recent years, Cyberpunk 2077, comes out from a studio that has a reputation you can only dream of having. My money and time is going to them because right now I am tired of so much with Destiny and this TWAB does nothing to make me hopeful for the games future. So much needs to be looked at yet Bungie are sat thinking "Hey, you know what ?? .. Let's make another bullet sponge Nightfall level no one asked for !!" .. meanwhile the console UI si slower than a Bungie update process .. in all honesty this game and Bungie are beyond all parody now.

11 RepliesRemember when eververse wasn't the entire focus of the game?

3 RepliesThey give us power and people cry we are two powerful, so they nerf it. Then they cry that we are two weak, so they nerf other stuff to try and make the previous nerf feel not so bad. It's down hill from here boys and girls. Ya f'n assholes ruined the game once again!! We need buffs damnit and our supers need to feel like a super!
-
I think the power fantasy was lost when "powerful" became the "average/normal." Guardians have gotten very powerful over time. We've just got used to it being like that and now nerfs look very weak compared to our current "normal." Nothing else they added really sways our options right now by that much.
-
is this what they meant by "a you had to be there moment"? yeah 'you had to be there' way back in D1 or early D2 to actually be/feel powerful.
-
3 Repliesnowadays in destiny2 you dont just feel not powerful, but also insulted and maybe even ripped off by eververse :)
-
1 ReplyPeople need to stop talking about this "power fantasy" crap. It's pathetic. You're a space ninja, with magical powers, who has super abilities, can magic grenades out of thin air, comes back to life, and wields a huge variety of enormous guns. How much more power do people want. Or is it just to be an unkillable god. Games should be challenging or they are not fun. More power makes it less challenging. Its too hard? go play farmville
-
Translation.... I want to one phase every raid boss and burn through content .... then hit up the forums and complain about lack of content
-
What d1 ,was everyone playing, not the one I was. By season 3 every weapon and super were nerfed into the ground. D2 year one was a pile of garbage, there were less than 10 viable weapons, and was the closest this game ever truly came to dying. Now d2 is heading right back into the same direction. Year 2 of these games , is probably the best time in these games. Garbage 1st year, then a pretty dam good second year, Taken King, Forsaken. Then year 3 they just start stripping everything down or tossing it out.

Here we go. People are some nerfs and act like the world is coming to an end
-
13 RepliesI don’t think you guys know the difference from power fantasy and straight up overpowered or in need of adjustments. Snipers will still deal a ton of burst damage, instead of izanagi players might want to pick up the whisper again or use regular snipers to deal dps. The nerfs inly brought more options to the table, you can still do what you normally do and still barely feel a difference. You can also just run a subclass that gives buffs or debuffs if you want damage so bad. Tractor cannon, nightstalker, well of radiance, titan punch that debuffs. Its not like dealing a huge amount of burst damage is going away, the power fantasy is still there.

Amen!! Destiny 1 you could feel powerful and it still felt a challenge if you got too confident, Destiny 2 is a bore, a real bore actually, in fact it is such a bore you can fall asleep playing activities rather easily, same bland horde mode activities, boring gunplay where everything feels like frickin nerf gun, why should we bother playing. Oh right I forgot we are GUARDIANS OF THE LIGHT AND PROTECTORS OF THE LAST CITY but be careful we don't protect too well or the gods will just make our weapons worse for being too "guardiany" I guess

I remember it well m8

3 RepliesEdited by teamunitednerds: 2/22/2020 6:06:39 AM“Raids that are actually a challenge. not a jumping puzzle, an encounter then a boss fight.” Literally every raid, including every single raid from D1 can be described like this.
-
Everybody lost it when the recluse nerf was inbound, recluse is still fantastic. Save some of your outrage people ability and exotic nerds are still inbound.
-
Look up power creep and you’ll have your asnwer
-
Power fantasy my ass you could be in endgame gear and still die to a dreg with a shrapnel launcher in patrol
-
1 ReplyBack in D1 before trials of the nine came in and started all the calls for nerfs?
-
Bungie: Create your own killing machine! Community: Ok .... Bungie: Wait we weren't serious! Quick nerf everything they use!
-
But there’s plenty of re-skinned and re-used assets relocated throughout the game disguised as new content. Don’t you see it? 🥴
-
This nerf isn’t reducing our power near as much as the ShadowKeep sandbox changes. Those nerfs REALLY took us down quite a bit. Especially with Rally Barricade and Luna Faction boots.

3 RepliesI see what you are saying... But d2s power fantasy is good. Far above d1. D2s content sucks and their loot farming options are scarce. Raids are too mechanical heavy putting too much pressure on all players in a team. ^ this is where your power fantasy claim is true.. as we grind our way through the challenging end game content and grew our power and loot in d1 that is designed to manhandle said endgame.. it was fun to just get a couple of randoms and take them through a raid and feel all cool because we manhandle as they are going through the learning curve and struggle.. then the talking about the about the loot that they hope to get etc... So you are right, but for the overall game, we are too strong in d2 for the core grind.. average to below average with endgame content according to which one was not effected by bungies magical power advantage system that is not consistent at all... and yeah.. I was ocd-ing on some specific weapons that I could farm and then it hit me.. not only are there not many options.. some of the hoops you have to jump through like on the moon is just not enticing or fun.

Maybe power was just a fantasy?
