PvP is awful, why are people excited by the prospect of Trials?
Step into IB, it's a shltsh0w. It's horrid. JHC it's *insert any expletive*. Have to suffer for those pinnacles and decent stat rolls, I guess.
Any Bungie devs playing? Probably not, they know better.
Sure competitive mode experiences might not suffer as badly from P2P connection, but it still won't be as stable as having dedicated servers. Hopefully it won't have all the bs balance/matching mechanics that general crucible has.
Also, would be great if they could add back the connection bar that D1 had. Interesting that it was removed. Oh and add a killcam, I'd love to see the mismatch of events from both player perspectives.

13 RepliesI still can't work out why the PvP crowd are so excited. It's literally competitive, so if you adds new gear to the crucible loot pool then that's the same thing no? I don't see how bringing another sweaty PvP mode will fix anything in the game, if anything it will just make balancing the sandbox even worse.

Then, realize Bungie has a PvP community that can't truly decide what it wants and couple that with their own refusal to separate PvE balance from PvP balance as well as sort out their P2P vs Dedicated Server debacle. Its a full blown recipe for disaster. Bungie can sandbox update all they want, not even Trials is going to fix PvP. Destiny is simply not a competitive game by mere concept. It will never be. And I can't take anyone who says it is seriously. Its like saying D&D is competitive. They balanced the game in Y1 about as perfectly as possible. Has everyone forgotten what balance does to a game like Destiny? Edit: spell check

30 RepliesI think what’s more confusing is that trials was in D2 and people hated it to death so much they removed it. So why are people excited for it to come back? What makes anyone think it’s going to have changed at all and yet people are excited for something they’d already forced out of the game because it was hated.

Edited by ScottF 2112: 2/20/2020 6:43:08 PMThe game mode has appeal if you are good at it. The best feeling moments I've had in D2 have been the rare-for-me clutch plays to win a Comp/Survival round. For better players, Trials is a way for them to have that "best thing in the game" experience more often. It is really just a vocal minority of these kind of elite players, along with people who have account recovery jobs, that want Trials back. Trials only had 85,000 people playing the last week it happened in D2. That is pretty insignificant. Don't expect miracles. D1 and D2 Trials had similar P2P and Sandbox issues. Everyone should be expecting that to continue. That is Destiny PVP, like it or not. They aren't going to re-code the whole game to go away from P2P. The exact complaints about the Sandbox change over time, but there are always complaints. Now, could Trials be better than it was before they shut it down? Of course it could. If B goes back to having bounties that can be completed without being on an elite team, then they can have more people playing. If they also have a solo option like they do with Survival that would help. If they stick with the "flawless or bust" or "5 wins or bust" approach, then this will be another failed experiment for a high % of the players.

True, that itself is tactical and there is of course skill sprinkled in as a factor too. But...Party Game. There's also major problems with the Crucible playing the meta to exclusion. Trials really is going to be all about shotgunning, and Hunter Vs Hunter Vs Hunter Vs Hunter. Bungie knows, EVERYONE knows, they haven't found a solution to that but that remains a one almighty hurdle for them to conquer...and there's not much time.

I believe this iron banner iteration this season is the worst it has ever been. Tiny maps stuffed with players, no new armor or weapons, supers out the ass along with heavy etc. I mean, it's always been pretty bad, but this is a whole new level of terrible. I've seen mayhem games less spammy than the average IB match.

I'll admit I'm concerned about Trials. My main concerns are what they'll do to combat cheating, the sandbox (as always), the rewards, and the possibility of it having SBMM. Trials will keep going through bad sandboxes like it always did in D1, but any of those other three things could kill it. Especially the last one.

Do not allow complete freedom in weapon loadouts, restrict them to 3 specific weapons like in prestige raids. Do no allow artifact mods, slow ability regen, decrease ability damage, and do not allow exotics or abilities that instantly refresh abilities on kill: skullfort, hunter dodge, arc web, ect. This would put a huge emphasis on playing skillfully rather than crutching on OP weapons and abilities Bungie constantly refuses to fix. This probably wouldn't take a lot of work and it would be less of a pain playing that how trials would play out without any restrictions right now

Truth be told, its only as bad as you make it. Sure there is a ton of stuff to complain about. Once i stopped playing only to win but rather to enjoy myself, surprisingly both my KD and winrate went up

Well, some of us enjoy PvP, and trials drops the dopest looking gear in the game. So there's that. Not everyone enjoys running 79 forges in a row and considers that fun *cough* you *cough.*

Git gud and stop complaining, bugs are an integral part of any game... learn to work around metas and bugs or don’t play at all... destiny has problems but this is not one of them
