Anyone else wish that certain exotic quests had PvE paths you could take to complete them? Thorn was a... Thorn in my side trying to unlock running Crucible. ZING!
Being someone with Bipolar Disorder, competitive game modes are something I've learned to avoid. If the hole I'd punched in my wall one day has anything to say about it. However, I want these exotics. Next up I'm planning on attempting to go for The Last Word, and I have a sinking feeling that exotic quest is going to break me.
If there was another option to gain progress for every exotic quest that had PvP quest steps, like PvE steps, that would be amazing. It would give people the option to choose which activities they want to partake in. PvP or PvE players then could just play the game they want to play it. Rather than forcing them to partake in a activity they want no part of. It takes aspects of fun out of a game for particular groups of people and instead turns it into a chore. Because someone like me does not find PvP fun at all. More so PvP to me is just a migraine waiting to happen.
I mean sure, let the PvP players gain progress in the exotic quests faster for all I care. As long as I'd have the option to stay as far away from PvP as I want I couldn't care less.
This is just wishful thinking though. I know nothing is going to be done about it. I'm just venting my frustrations out about it and how I wish certain exotic quests had been done. But hey, thats life. I'll grit my teeth and bear it.
Update: Someone recently brought to my attention that this post of mine seems pretty selfish and it is. How I should've worded it is what I wish Bungie had done was make it so you could choose your activity with ANY exotic quest. So PvE exotic quests could also be done with PvP if the user so chose to. Like the Legend of Acrius shotgun being a Raid only Exotic to complete, but having the option to run PvP to acquire it instead, I'd honestly be down for that. I think some PvP players would appreciate that, though not all as some like that linear challenge. As I'm aware.
In retrospect I really could've made it an argument for BOTH sides of the spectrum. Apologies to the PvP players out there.

I would be happy if I could just get shards and other upgrade materials from PvP.
-
1 ReplyI'd like to see PVE and PVP steps for everything so both sides are happy. Until then, I just do without anything that requires PVP play.
-
1 ReplyThen make a PvP alternative for PvE steps.

1 ReplyI despise PvP with blazing hatred But having to play PvP for Thorn back on D1 is yet one things that I will always remember, along with the time I beat Dark Eater Middir, loose against Master Gee the Ultra Invincible and changed from Acolyte to Priest in RagnarokOnline. I understand you don't want to PvP, the same way I've chosen to miss The Chaperone, Malfeseance and any must play PvP to progress the quest in D2, so can you. Just don't.

Dude at this point PvP players have no incentive in terms of rewards. If you want all the guns in the game, you have to play all the content in the game.
-
1 ReplyPlay all the game or don’t get all the prizes
-
You know what's dumb is having to do a pve raid numerous times over and still no 1k. If it was tied to pvp I'd have it already. 117 clears yeah f pveasy

1 ReplyQuests that have to do with pve annoy me

I hate the PvE activities, and especially exotics that requires raids will never find their way into my collection/vault (Looking at you Acrius!). If I could just choose to get them through PvP that would be great!

1 ReplyMy advice to u would be to set a goal and span the entire pvp part of the quest over several days. For example, if u need to get 30 defeats, go 5 or 10 each day depending on how much u want to play. Good luck.

1 ReplyFirst I want to say this was a well thought out and constructive piece of feedback, most posts nowadays are not. Secondly, I do agree with what you are saying. Most exotics do require PvP and should give optional paths towards obtaining said weapon. Unfortunately that is the nature of the beast with D2. Some weapons, pinnacles specifically, do require you to play PvP. I wish you the best of luck with obtaining the Last Word.

I hate exotics that make me play gambit and use a bow but shit happens.

Absolutely

1 ReplyEdited by Swiftlock: 2/19/2020 7:32:16 PMNah. Some gear SHOULD require you to go out of your comfort zone to get. That's what makes it special. Remember that there are PvP players who don't enjoy PvE. It goes both ways. Not everyone is going to easily unlock every item in the game, and that is 100% okay. The more you want, the more you should have to do.

For last word use sweet business it doesn’t take much skill to use and you can get it from an exotic drop
-
2 RepliesYou could say the same for PVP Exotics that require PVE. If you want the weapon, complete the steps.
-
Do yourself a favor and get your quest done during Iron Banner this week. You get extra tokens and loot. Plus, a lot more novice PvP players come in during Iron Banner. So it’s a lot less sweaty than your normal Crucible modes.
-
And the quests that end with having to do a modified strike or some other quest step that doesn't have matchmaking but requires a fireteam.

The last word quest isn’t hard because there’s a lot of hand cannon kills involved. It’s hard because dying in crucible= loss of percentage. You can finally get to 50%, then after a bad match now you’re at 35%...

9 RepliesPVP is one of the main parts of the game. If you don’t like playing something that is almost 40 percent of a game then it sounds like to me the game isn’t for you. Stop complaining you blueberry lol
