So, vendors suck. Have been since pretty much vanilla, and have only been getting worse since then. That's....kinda all there really needs to be for an introduction so I'll cut to the chase. I've been thinking of potential vendor overhauls/changes that should actually make some vendors decent, both in and out of the Tower.
Note: I am not claiming that these should all be added. These are merely suggestions to make some vendors worth visiting while cleaning up other vendors. These do not include every vendor, nor were they suggested to fix every issue with vendors (even those that are listed).
Since Bungie's forums have no list system, everything will be listed as >, >>, and >>> respectively. Sorry if it looks messy. I will try to clarify anything that sounds or looks confusing.
Also, obligatory "Eververse sucks" post.
Destination vendors:
Massive overhaul:
> Now carry Bounties 2.0 (now carry weeklies, more/new dailies, and repeatable bounties). Bounty rewards adjusted for each destination.
> Destination Vendors now come with ranking system. Levels 1-100.
>> Levels now grant different rewards based on progress (these are examples only):
>>>Level 10 onward: Increase gains from resources and chests.
>>>Level 20 onward: Access to Planetary Armor 2.0 and Y1 random roll weapons from that planet, if there are any that have yet to be changed.
>>>Level 30 onward: Increased damage and damage resistance against majors and vehicles at that destination. Does not apply to playlist activities, Raids, or Dungeons (including missions such as The Whisper and Zero Hour).
>>>Level 50 onward: Increased Legendary loot gains from Heroic Public Events, Lost Sectors, and playlist activities at that destination.
>>>Level 75 onward: Access to new destination exclusive weapon (stats and perks TBD). Increased chance at better gear (such as Exotics) from rank-up packages, Lost Sectors, and Heroic Public Events.
>>>Level 100: Small chance at receiving curated roll for destination exclusive weapon from rank-up packages. +10% XP gains when at destination, including raids, dungeons, and playlist activities. Increased chance at receiving gear with higher stats.
>> Flashpoints now grant bonus XP when doing daily and weekly bounties from flashpoint vendor (does not include repeatable bounties).
> Destination vendors now move around weekly, tied to where fast travel locations are.
>> This will exclude Vance (due to really small patrol area) and Spider (out of safety). Failsafe given wireless access frames to interact at other areas, courtesy of the Vanguard.
Zavala:
> Vendor Refresh (seriously, just do this already)
> Boon of the Vanguard may be used at any time rather than during a strike. Still requires completing a strike before using another (similar behavior to Finest Matterweave).
Shaxx:
> Vendor Refresh (Give this man a raise).
> Boon of the Crucible can be used at any time, similar to Vanguard Boon.
Faction Vendors:
> Behave similarly to Destination Vendors. Non-gear rewards are more general than destination vendors (Ex: 10% more Glimmer earned from Gambit matches while pledged).
> Loyalty is character-based as opposed to account-based.
> Faction Rallies
>> Offer a curated weapon as the winning reward. Losing Factions may purchase a random rolled variant from the winner (will always be worse than curated to encourage competition).
>> Lasts two weeks as opposed to one week previously.
>> Renown system reworked to be more engaging in all activities rather than one or two
Banshe-44:
> Now sells Finest Matterweave, Rainmaker, and Pure Matterglass Lens.
>> These items no longer drop from dismantles.
>> Costs Weapon Telemetry (which now drops naturally from any weapon precision kill; rate is the same as PMG).
>> Consumables changed:
>>>Finest Matterweave has a chance to drop multiple cores, up to a max of 3.
>>>Rainmaker now has a chance to proc on Finishers.
>>>Pure Matterglass Lens now generates weapon telemetry on non-precision kills. Special and Power weapon kills increase drop chances, with heavy precision kills granting the best chances
Lord Saladin:
> Iron Banner quest no longer required to acquire rank up packages
Ada-1:
> No longer needed to visit Ada in order to obtain Radiant Frame.
> Black Armory Research Frames now have a decent chance to drop Black Armory Prototype weapons alongside current drops; even smaller chance for a curated version.
> Forge Polymer can now be stacked up to 5. Still behaves similarly.
> Research Frames changed:
>> Research Frames now specify weapon type (Auto Rifle, Scout Rifle, Rocket Launcher, etc). Now changes daily instead of weekly.
>> Research Frames are now repeatable. Price costs 2 Modulus Reports as opposed to 4.
Amanda Holliday:
Massive overhaul:
> No longer sells story missions (why was this a thing?).
> Now sells ship exhaust trails cause why not.
> Now sells sparrow mods that allow players to customize their Sparrows more; replaces current sparrow perks (costs TBD).
>> Four slots: 2 dedicated mod slots, horn slot, and trail slot. Note: Mods do not stack.
>> Enhanced Driver- Increases Sparrow speed.
>> Enhanced Transmat- Instant Sparrow summon (respective perks now removed from sparrows and ghost shells)
>> Enhanced Maneuverability- Improves maneuverability for Sparrows, both airborne and grounded.
>> Destabilizers- Easier rolling while airborne. Successful tricks while airborne restore 50% of boost.
>> Weapon Auto-Loader: Automatically reloads weapons while riding.
>> Stealth Drive- Enemies are less likely to shoot you.
>> Reinforced Chassis- Increases Sparrow Durability. Ramming enemies does more damage to them.
>> Sparrow Horns- Change the sound of your sparrow horn.
>> Sparrow Trails- Changes the color of the Sparrow’s exhaust trail.
Tess Everis (oh boy):
> No longer accessible from Directory. Replaced with Postmaster.
> Bright Engram modifications:
>> Guarantees 100 bright dust per opening, with possibility of additional bright dust from “gifts” (Odds are TBD).
>> Now have 4 drops per open: 1 shader drop, 1 transmat effect / ghost projection, and 2 remaining drop-protected drops (ghost shells, ships, sparrows, ornaments, etc).
>>>Players who already have everything will continue to get random drops.
I'm not including more because Eververse is worth its own topic.
Ikora:
> Now “sells” story missions instead of Amanda. Behaves similar to Year 1 minus the token system.
> Replaces the Heroic Story Missions in the Vanguard playlist.
>> Comes with respective 920, 950, and 980 modes; higher modes are unlocked by beating the mission's previous light level.
>> Drops will be gear specific to that mission and/or season, with previous Y1 weapons/armor being upgraded to 2.0 and added to lootpool. Higher tiers provide more/better rewards (TBD).
>> 950 and 980 missions will have different and/or stronger modifiers, such as Attrition or Famine.
Xur:
Please note that this was made before Bungie announced their affinity reroll system. This was intended to be an incentive for older players to actually visit Xur nowadays.
> Now sells Glass Needles.
>> Costs Enhancement Prisms, Legendary Shards, and a lot of glimmer (actual price TBD).
>> Used to reroll elemental affinity on armor. Costs one for legendary armor and three for exotic armor.
>> Max stack capacity of 10, similar to Ascendant Shards.
I would like to reiterate that these are merely my suggestions; I am not demanding that these be implemented unless others agree. Anyone is free to agree or disagree on these and share their own thoughts. I'm only asking that criticism be constructive and that people have read the whole thread first.
Edit 1: After some reflection from feedback, I removed the suggestion where changing faction loyalty removes previous progress.

1 ReplyTheres a sniper I rarely get from banshee but I always seem to get moving target and field prep on it :( I think it's a Suros one. All I know is its void and I believe high impact.

I mostly just play PvP, because Shaxx always berates and belittles me when I do Vanguard Activities so his inventory is really all I care about. Here's what I'd like to get added: 1) If I can get to eververse's shopping page without going to the tower, I should be able to do the same with Shaxx (Actually goes for Banshee as well). I actually interact with him. I don't use Eververse. 2) I'd like to be able to earn all the seasonal ornaments in the current season. I think that would be nice. If Bungie won't add new stuff, at least make the old stuff accessible for those who haven't gotten all sets completed yet. (This completely goes against FOMO, so that's not gonna happen) 2) More diverse bounties. Did you know Shaxx never asks you to use an Autorifle or a Sidearm (or Shotgun, SMG, Fusion-rifle and so on) to get kills in the Crucible with? Why not dictate a loadout aswell? Get kills with a kinetic sniper while having a shotgun equipped in the energy slot, and get energy-shotgun kills with a kinetic sniper equipped. Stuff like that; but diverse, randomized and with bonkers combos. "Shaxx needs me to run double sidearms, YAY!" You know, make it fun, and with combos people ACTUALLY use, and REALLY do NOT use. Also: Make weekly and daily bounties farmable. If I complete one, I should not be forced to wait for refresh to pick it up again. If I wanna do daily crucible bounties back to back let me. It's not like I'm actually getting anything worthwhile from them anyway. 10 Bright dust for a bounty of 3000 Glimmer....? Seriously? The daily bounties currently gives enhancementcores cores, it's just that those are almost worthless due to the sheer amount you need of them to masterwork anything. 3) Let me pick from your pool of weapons. There are particular rolls of Fate Cries Foul, Anonomous Autumn and The Last Perdition I want to try out. Shaxx is NOT keen on giving me any of those. I've spent THOUSANDS of tokens and have gotten a descent Last Perdition, but that's it. An engram costs 20 tokens (I think), so let me choose the weapon (or armour) from Shaxx's pool for 40 tokens (something reasonable not like 80000 tokens to decide myself). 4) Give me a "weapon of the week" bounty. Shaxx supplies a roll of a gun, sometimes good, sometimes bad, and I need 150 (or whatever is reasonable) opponents defeated in any crucible playlist with that gun to complete that bounty. That would shake up the meta a lot more often. Do you know how much bows I saw in the Crucible before Crimson Days? ZERO. During Crimson Days, and still the week after there was bows EVERYWHERE. There were people in COMP with BOWS!! It was GLORIOUS! Note: Some of these suggestions would probably work for other vendors aswell.

Pardon the bump, but I would like to hear the community's thoughts on this.
