As the Title says. I fully understand that the use Machine Guns are being conformed to is add clearing, but especially for the Nightfall Ordeals, more specifically the Champion mobs they do absolutely nothing.
I hate having to ask people to find a different weapon to equip for something as easy as a Nightfall, but seeing how they output damage as of this sandbox I may as well be permitting someone with 2 Primaries into my fireteam. That ain't happening
Edit: I'm not out here saying MGs should be DPS gods or anything like that for any who are new. I'm more saying
"I don't like that you specifically Nerfed MGs against bosses by 21% back in Season of the Drifter, please undo it so it can at least out damage my Primary weapon against boss mobs"
More that speed

1 ReplyI don’t like this ideas because LMG’s are so easy to use already. This would be the only heavy weapon archetype to see any use after your suggested change. That’s the whole reason LMG’s got nerfed in the first place.
-
1 ReplyI assume this is pvp balancing at work, Because they're out shot in pvp by several things that shouldn't compete with them.
-
1 ReplyMg’s are in hard spot, buff and the destroy even more in pvp. Buff needs to be pve only.
-
1 ReplySeriously they now feel like auto rifles should. Just give them primary ammo.
-
1 ReplyWhy did they nerf them back then? And if there was a valid reason for that then has that reason stopped existing now?
-
1 ReplyUse boss spec modifier
-
1 ReplyHonestly to me machine guns are in a great place. I'd be happy to see them buffed vs red bars, but boss dps is fine. I usually run double snipers though and a machine gun, so my MG is my primary weapon then I bust out izanagis and sole survivor for bosses and majors.

Honestly would love this as my titan runs an auto and an lmg cause i love using the war rig and it does feel like my auto, which is sweet business so it should be pretty damaging, is still overtaking my hammerhead. maybe not the delerium when it's powered up but like... c'mon the LMG should be putting in more work than that.
-
3 RepliesPvP players would cry. They should go back to original damage though
-
4 RepliesBuff bosses so we have to use real dps and use all damage phases intended by the devs instead of 1 phasing literally every boss
-
8 RepliesMachine guns in D1 you could easily kill 3 players. In D2 the power is not even close in crucible.
-
6 RepliesTwo Machine guns Thunderlord and Xenophage belong in the heavy slot. ..... The rest should be in the energy slot taking green ammo......just my opinion not everyone's......
-
8 RepliesWhen you need half a magazine to drop a solar shield on a thrall on NMH... they have been nerfed too hard. Damage nerf, then ammo nerf, like WTF.
-
3 RepliesNo. How bout you all learn how to use your abilities and teamwork to buff your own, and mine, LMGs.. There is more than enough stuff in the game to buff anything you want.
-
3 RepliesI don’t need machine guns when I’ve got 1 of each spike grenade launcher
-
This ^^^

10 RepliesI mean, if it had a damage buff against ultras and majors to help with high level ad clear that is fine, but I don’t want them outclassing other heavies for true boss damage again.
Sorry, all out of salt.
-
7 RepliesMachine guns received the boss damage nerf since they were too good in their original state -- huge range, zero incoming flinch, crazy outbound flinch, bottomless ammo reserves, etc. LMG's outclassed all other weapons by miles. That was when I decided to take a 3-4 month D2 break. When I returned, Bungie had seen their error and nerfed LMG's with an ammo reserve drop, slight range nerf, and boss damage nerf. I'm fine with boss damage being increased again if their use impacts mobility. LMG's are true "heavy" weapons, not just glorified AR's, so traditionally they were mounted on tripods or vehicle weapon mounts to make them usable. I suggest a -10% movement penalty while LMG's are being held or fired (exact mechanics and numbers TBD by Bungie) just to reflect their sheer weapon bulk. In return, LMG's can have their damage increased accordingly.

Buh buh buh buh buh buh, PVP REEEEEEEEEEEEE
I would like to see LMGs though get a buff...
-
1 Replyyou got a problem with dual primarys?
-
77 Replies1-2 punch shotgun is already good vs champions in 980 nightfalls. Machineguns are not needed for boss damage...they are only designed for fast add clear. That is like saying...make celestial nighthawk better at add killing.
-
2 RepliesI mean Xenophage still shreds everything especially with Actium War Rig. So not all of them
-
5 RepliesYou're not doing nightfalls right if you ask people to unequip an LMG.
-
7 RepliesYay xenophage would be useful
-
6 RepliesI always play with 2 primary’s in a Nightfall. A lot of ppl just run izanagis burden but don’t use any mods like a unstoppable mod for example. Thats kinda frustrating. Not even a izanagi can beat a unstoppable champion without staggering it.
-
8 RepliesThey are litterally not designed for that (except xeno and thunderlord at a push). Certain weapons are designed for specific roles in mind. There is absolutely no reason to break the mold.... Theres nothing stopping from using an lmg in whatever you like, but lmgs do not a buff for something they are not designed for...
