Postmaster items disappearing

So I got an update today and it deleted everything I had in my postmaster. Usually it wouldn't be a problem but this time I was purposefully holding items. Was this intentional? As I have never had this happen in the past

Bungie has always stated DO NOT use the postmaster as storage or you risk losing items. They also will NOT return lost items.
