Warlocks in pvp

In this stage of pvp warlocks are not the choice of crucible what do you guys think

  • Stormcallers have access to Arc Souls, Arc Web, and the longest non-regenerating super in the game with Transcendence and Crown of Tempests. The also have Pulsewave, which is excellent for their neutral game Voidwalkers have Handheld Supernova, Devour, overcharged grenades, and access to Astrocyte-buffed Blink. The Nova Warp melee is also the strongest non-one shot melee in the game Dawnblades have access to a lethal set of perks with the newly buffed Dawnblade tree, even if it requires some time to master. They also have infinite overshields from healing grenades and one of the best roaming supers in the game Warlocks as a whole can take advantage of Rifts and are the single best class for baiting doorways by floofing. They aren't Hunters, but Warlocks are by no means weak

    • I only play warlock on pve now since thats the only time I feel good about using warlock. I stick to my hunter for pvp now, its just so much easier to play hunter on pvp. Great choice of subclasses, builds, exotics

      I have been a warlock main since the D1 Beta. I still love my warlock, there is just something about them that I enjoy. having said that, as far as D2 pvp goes, Warlocks have it bad. of all 3 classes you can tell they are the ones bungie just don't care about. its like they have a round table with all the great ideas of stuff, abilities, exotics that they can throw into the game. then they think which ideas would be great on the hunter and the titans... all the junk ideas left over, they think lets just pass that to the locks, they never complain anyway. they are slow on the ground and need an exotic to keep up with the other two. they are slow in the air that mostly makes them easy targets (only the resent rework to top tree dawnblade has given them sum sort of fighting chance now and double dash that is finally useful. they have the slowest melee which means they never win a melee vs melee challenge. their ability takes ages to charge and so long to deploy half the time it will get you killed just trying to use it. HHNB... ah the one saving grace of the void class, the only reason it's really any threat is because of it's exotic and with the number of hunters and titans crying about it, it's only a matter of time before that gets nerfed. remember when the super on that tree was actually a threat in pvp, didn't take them long to fix that. enjoy HHNB while you can. top tree and bottom tree Nova bombs, what are they really good for that offer any real fight to the other classes other than using Nova to shut down other supers. I still enjoy using nova now and then but other then the super, there is nothing about them that gives them much of an equalizer to their pvp game. Storm callers, at least their super is a bit more offensive and mobile but they can still be an easy target and easy to shutdown. just about all the warlock nades on all the classes are for the most part useless. as are most of their exotics. half of them do nothing but help speed up getting abilities back because they are so deadpan slow in the first place... the little changes to top tree dawnB are welcome and feel like finally, the warlock has something more unique to them and their own playstyle but the top tree super is still useless and weak af. it's only advantage is you can jump so high with it, if you don't kill yourself flying out of the map, you can at least use it as a bit of a getaway artist. the other classes still need a lot of rework if pvp is what you have in mind. still i love playing warlock over the other classes. for more patient players and with a bit more skill behind them, they can still hold there own but it's a much harder fight. the numbers dont lie, when you look at comp and the number of people using warlocks compared to the other two, there is good reason they get less use. sorry for all the spelling mistakes, it's 4am over here. back to bed. its not often i comment about the warlock because i don't think bungie will ever do anything to bring them up to par with the other two. and if I may just add... the design language of warlock armour.... I am tired of all the warlock armour that either looks like a bathroom robe or Cinderella's ball gown. there are like two or three chest piece that are ok, but... anyway, I am tired of complaining, it wont change anything. I still love my warlock though : )

          • I main a titan in pvp but wanted to switch it up after I hit Legend so I started running my warlock. I got down to about 4600 from not playing for a while but got back to 5500 with my warlock. I use bottom tree Stormcaller, Get Away Artist, and The Last Word with a high impact fusion. I’m actually having a lot of fun and getting so much hate mail it’s hilarious 100% mobility, Stompees wearing, DRB-mindbenders-etc, hunters constantly send me hate mail because they can’t ape me. Apparently anything except the load out they’re using is “trash”. Lol

                    They do have some very good builds that make them formidable in PvP, but just not enough. Right now their numbers are higher, but that's because of the big changes to the Dawnblade class. It's the shiny new toy. Overall, Warlocks have too many disadvantages. In a game where movement is key and close combat is favored, having a sloth is a big setback. Having rifts in PvP are less valuable than a dodge. Sure, the fanboys are going to scream, "what about Handheld Supernova, dude???" Well, what about it? You have one good grenade and one good exotic that is the only reason to ever use middle tree Voidwalker. If Bungie caves in to the Cruci-Babies, and nerfs it, there goes an entire tree for a class with less viable builds over all.

                  • I do better with warlock in pvp then the other two smelly classes 😂 but I have always played warlock as main so I guess I'm just use to controlling a warlock then Hunter or Titan.

                    • Top tree dawnblade definetely made the neutral game a bit better but the super is still meh. In air accuracy is kinda alright but hunters still have more....

                      • It may not be the choice but I switched from Titan like 2 months ago and after getting used to the jump...I thoroughly enjoy the class. Haven't even thought of going back to Titan.

                      • I run almost exclusively warlock, IB aside for bounties. If you're going to run warlock, please remember you're not a hunter or titan, less agile, no dodge (dawnblade aside) slower movement, achingly slow melee, vulnerable supers. That aside, if you can combine those drawbacks with suitable weapons and tactics, you can have so much fun. Plus killing invis hunters and shoulder charging titans is always fun. Personally I run bottom tree stormcaller, crown of Tempest, Bite of the Fox and Frostmires Hex on most matches, I'm not mobile so I'll back up teammates with frostmires, storm grenades are fun, arc soul rifts so my teammates can benefit, plus a kick ass super that used right will give me annihilation medals.

                        • I’ll keep maining the warlock. Handheld supernova plays to my snipe/hand cannon style, allowing me to tank up close when needed - although typically a shotgun push is rare enough that it works for me. I am good with nova warp and typically kill 2 or 3 in pvp w it when launched. I only rarely have hard times trying to catch the runners when super is launched. Dawnblade and floating in air w a dodge is very nice to use too but requires getting used to. I think warlocks have it fine, you just gotta get used to it and know if it hits YOUR play style or not.

                            Its handheld super nova thats the whole warlock class on console its over titans are mweh too by the way
