Gambit would be more enjoyable if enemies weren't so frustratingly strong

The Gambit mobs deal too much damage, they deal statisticly more damage than in any other gamemode in the game. Of course, it's generally power level dependent, but that's the thing, their difficulty scales with your power level, so they're always just as difficult like they're in a raid on first week. And that is a big issue, because instead of you fighting for gathering more motes than the enemy team, you're just fighting for your life in there. And that is frustrating, it requires you to hold yourself back as much as possible instead of going straight for it, and finding generally most badass take downs possible. I think that the static difficulty of enemies should be scaled waay back on level of a classic strike after you reach max power cap. So if you're 960, they should be 910 at max. If they're easier to kill and deal less damage, players can better focus on the gameplay itself, on gaining motes, and it would make invasions more enjoyable, because people can pay more attention to them and they CAN survive such environment. This little change would make Gambit much more playable in my opinion.

  • Screw that! The enemies should be more powerful! Blockers need MORE health. Especially giant blockers. Those things should require 3 supers and 20 rockets to kill Medium blockers need to teleport every .15 seconds and get 50% more health Small blockers need a 200% increase. Everything else... is good.

    • Sometimes they are weak as hell, other times I get one shot by a goblin. Not sure why it happens, but that's just how it be.

    • Gambit suffers from a number of bad design decisions....and a number of design shortcuts that were taken during its development. Your frustration is due to Bungie trying to take a shortcut to try to keep experienced raid teams----with years of experience of maximizing DPS in short time windows, that raids require-----from melting Gambit bosses. So Gambit enemies are the only enemies in the game that auto-scale. So they are literally the msot powerful enemies in the game. As you level up and become more powerful, they level up with you. Also Gambit blockers are some of the most obnoxious enemies in the game. The small ones are fine, in that they shield enemies like regular Taken Vex. But the Taken Captain medium blockers teleport mroe often, and have a programmed mechanic where they just teleport spam several times in a row if you break their shield. This was done SPECIFICALLY to combat the use if the Ikelos Shotgun. Then the Hive Knights rush you aggressively and spam fire at you. Which can all add up to an experience that is more frustrating than fun. Especially if you're playing with a team of poorly-coordinated randoms....and have the misfortune of going up against a clan team. Who goes on to drop two large blockers and a Medium on you at once....because they spawn camped your guy who tried to Invade two minutes earlier....and then THEY invade. If its Gambit Prime.....you're forced to go to the platform because the blockers are stealing motes. You then get nuked by the Invader, because he knows to look for you there....and then he either wipes your entire team. Or your bank gets emptied of motes because your team mates are trying to hunt him down, rather than being sacrificial lambs at The Bank. ...and the INvader just hides. Fun stuff.

      • The only op thing is the taken captain because of his constant teleportation spam Otherwise it's fine, if your can't kill them fast enough consider changing your loadouts Sincerely a dredgen with 12 infemy resets 😃

        • Hey... At least the taken phalenxs are gone.. Right? Honestly don't know what's worse.. Them shield blasting through solid objects or the taken captain teleporting and that ridiculous shroud of smoke he spams as well

        • I haven’t played a single Gambit game since Shadowkeep launched. Not one. I’m about to start playing to get the shot gun. Based on what I read below I’ll just worry about getting my kills and get this done with as quickly as possible. Don’t see anyone commenting that Gambit is fun to play. Nobody.

          • If your team is winning, you'll get more yellow bars. If your team is losing, you'll see more red bars. It's the catch up mechanic.

            • You're talking about Gambit Prime right? Because normal Gambit is a joke in terms of difficulty. I enjoy the challenge in Prime. If you're dying a lot from adds it's usually because of being overly aggressive and greedy going for motes. Clear out adds first and remember that it's okay to let teammates with more health grab the motes while you head back to the bank to take out blockers.

            • I watched a single Taken Captain 2v1 2 guardians and win without even losing half it's health because it just did so much damage they died before they could even pull out heavy weapons. Cost the team 25 motes.

            • Surprisingly their are not, would you see... YOU are being scaled to match enemies to a point your team and the opposite one would struggle with lesser enemies. That is all.

            • Of course it would but they have to make players extremely weak, unlike D1, so they can keep their influencers happy. What would Bungie do if they didn’t have all that streamer -blam!- to suck on?

            • Can't stand to play that mode with the inconsistency it has. Sometimes it's a cake walk other times I can't even kill a red bar enemy. Not fun at all.

            • Yeah agreed. The Taken Captain blocker is legit the most obnoxious enemy in the game. It seems to be by design that when they reach a certain hp threshold they enter a teleport spam phase which is so damn infuriating.

            • Gambit prime #1 for me - less portal invasions - - Bigger enemys - - Damage buff pools - And there are way more to be positive about the prime version than the regular gambit - I wished they reversed wishender so that blockers can be outmatched and cost less frustration - But thats only for the regular gambit For Prime you can use almost every weapon becuase of the damage buff pool Play Gambit prime for an hour and then go back in regular you will feel and see the diffrence

              It seems to vary to be honest. Some matches I’m slicing through the mobs like butter the next one I can’t get a kill to save my life.

              • Heaven forbid we have content that is even slightly challenging. If you're getting killed by basic mobs the that's your own damn fault. Own up to it.

                • PvE enemies in Gambit do not scale with your level. An 800 Light player will do the same damage as a 950 Light player. Gambit enemies have their damage set artificially high to prevent the PvE part of the game from being an easy steamroll. PvP enemies, however, ARE influenced by light level advantages

                • Gambit has no cure I'm afraid. It's just a horrible mode where the "catch up" mechanic is mostly used as a snowball mechanic. It needs major changes, or better yet a complete redesign. One of them might be your suggestion, I have no doubt. But that alone will not make people play Gambit.
