I just came back to Destiny as a free player once new light launched. Purchase Shadowkeep and i'm at the end where you have to cleanse the essences. The Essence of greed requires machine gun kills, which I do not have access to. It seems that in order to acquire a machine gun there is either an absurd bounty or quest (21 Delirium and Edgewise) or some other questline that is no longer available in 2020 like the Thunderlord or Hammerhead. I did not purchase Forsaken. Even the Vanguard quest that produces an exotic MG requires you to have MG kills. It's rather irritating that I can't finish the Shadowkeep campaign until I can somehow manufacture an MG drop. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting one in Season of Dawn?

Thunderlord is a random drop that you will eventually get just by playing normally. The next easiest is probably Fixed Odds from menage

6 RepliesGet hammerhead from the black armory.

Ya bro. Do the ada 1 quest stuff. It gives you the hammer head at the end of said quest. Its bundled with the new light stuff. Pretty solid machine gun i still use it

3 RepliesIf the only content packages you own are Vanilla and Shadowkeep, then the only options to obtain a machine gun are through Thunderlord, Xenophage, 21% Delirium, and Edgewise. Thunderlord is an exotic random drop and Xenophage is a quest exotic. Avalanche is a free-play drop but only during the Dawning. The other legendary machine guns are drops from content-package activities. Hammerhead, Bane of Sorrow, and Fixed Odds are bundled with Forsaken (Forges, Crown of Sorrow raid, Menagerie).

You just missed the dawning where avalanche was a common drop, sorry

Edited by Trindalas: 2/9/2020 9:36:09 AMMy first one was Hammerhead from the forges which is still available. I do agree most of them are way too hard to get. Edgewise quest takes like thousands of kills to finish. Was nice to be done with it but I like Hammerhead way better tbh. Granted I’ll take Xenophage over any of them if my exotic slot is available. I doubt I’ll ever get delirium due to my hatred of any pvp whatsoever. There’s also the one from menagerie that I haven’t gotten yet, I should get on that... Thunderlord is fun too if you can get it from an engram, though it took me forever to get one from the engram Xur sells. It was one of the last few I needed by the time I got it, not including raid and pvp exotics, or Titan/warlock armors since I don’t use those characters. Now that I’m done with my hunter exotics I should work on those though I suppose... speaking of which I gotta remember to visit Xur as soon as I get home from work so I don’t miss lion rampant.

3 RepliesYou can eqsily get Hammerhead. Check with Ada-1. You need a ballistic log from one of her weekly quests.

Can always go for Xenophage quest. That's technically an Exotic LMG that was part of Shadowkeep.

2 RepliesYou could always swing by and buy a fated engram from xur and hope a thunderlord drops. It's in the loot pool And hammerhead is very easy to get. Just go get the weekly bounty that gives a ballistic log for completing 2 forges, then go buy the machine gun frame from Ada. Do the thing it says to do, then go to Mars and do the lost sector next to braytech, to back to Ada to get the completed frame and run a forge. It sounds like a lot but could be done in about a half hour

Get 21% Delirum - And 3 words to describe it , “ Nothing Else Matters “

I’m pretty you sure to get an essence weapon by farming the nightmare levels or what ever they are called. Thunderlord I think can be bought through Xur’s fates engram.
