Does hand cannon and pulse rifle range need fine tuning?

Like most blanket nerfs in Destiny's history there is always one or two archetypes that are disproportionately affected. The Shadowkeep range nerf to all hand cannons and pulse rifles did the same thing to any archetype whose one advantage was range versus others in its class (110 HC, 450 Aggressive PR) or had just enough range to make it viable (140 HC, 450 Lightweight PR). The range nerf did nothing really to create a meta shift and just weakened archetypes that at least had a place, and made the ones that were already strong only stronger relative to others in their class. Four months is enough time for Bungie to collect data and start making changes especially with Trials on the horizon. What do you think?

I know some of us can't stand when real life comparisons are made... but just gotta say it: People hunt with hand "cannons" in real life. Delaware even has a designated deer season for it: http://www.eregulations.com/delaware/hunting/deer-seasons/ And this isn't exactly up close tactics either. These guys zero in as much as 60 yds out (just over 50m), and score kills out beyond that range. It really shouldn't be all that bizarre to get high damage headshots beyond 35-40 meters with these types of weapons. It should take a certain bit of skill though to land them back to back on a moving target at the longer ranges. Perhaps they should have tweaked other aspects of the weapon related to handling/recoil/etc. so it called for more skill. Yeah... a bit reminiscent of the D1 debates around bloom and such.... but it may have been a more reasonable/acceptable approach. After all, it is called a hand CANNON, and thus should perhaps be a bit too unstable for "running and gunning". As for Pulses.... meh. Last I played, the types I used felt pretty good. Perhaps not quite as good as I remember my Suros and such from D1, but good enough to be a main staple. The kick was always the trick... keeping the bugger stable. Would have loved to gotten my hands on my old PDX... thing was beastly out into the 40's. Think the real problem is how the maps force engagements closer in... but... that is a whole different debate.
