Then at least collections and the surplus of certain materials would have a purpose.
Edit: wow you people make it seem like itd be easy just to get that god roll first time around. Think about how many perk combinations there are and let alone masterworks as well.
Edit: Cant believe this is actually trending to bad bungie will ignore it regardless

If they ever brought this back it would need massive changes from how it was introduced in HoW. Personally I don't think the game needs it to come back ever. It took away the grind in HoW since as soon as a person got the gun they wanted they could keep re rolling to get the best roll non stop.
-
8 RepliesOh look another 100+ upvoted topic ignored by Bungie. These are becoming the new medals of freedom
-
20 RepliesThey did this in house of wolves, you could re-roll weapons with banshee. Pretty sure they removed the concept because everyone was getting their god rolls so quick.
-
Let us make the guns we want and upgrade them as we wish. God for big we role play a bit and make builds.

Edited by Fujimoose: 2/6/2020 6:34:42 AMI'm totally for this idea. It wouldn't kill the game for me. I don't mind grinding for stuff but grinding out any activity for the perfect roll is a waste of time because if luck isn't on your side you'll be grinding away at this game till the end of it's cycle. By that time there won't be any reason to grind for it. Eyasluna is a perfect example. I grinded pvp for at least a decent roll in d1. I got crappy rolls. I never got a good roll. Same goes for imago loop. I grinded the undying mind strike endlessly. So it was a waste of time. Being able to reroll weapons in d2 won't be game breaking because there isn't any game breaking perks. Luck in the chamber was one of the number one perks in d1. In d2 we got kill clip and rampage. I only know of one weapon that rolls with both. Rampage is situational. Kill clip is situational too. If you happen to win duels you'll take advantage of those perks. Even then you got a small window to use them. Luck in the chamber had no timer. You didn't have to proc it by getting a kill. It was a random bullet in your gun that did extra damage. On hand cannons especially it was a deadly perk.

6 RepliesIn my opinion, if you've masterworked gear or weapons... that exact roll will be available from your collections; masterworking a different roll should then overwrite it (perhaps you can spend telemetries on getting masterwork 'focus' swapped back)??
-
7 RepliesThat would render literally the entire game useless to play then. It would take all the grind out for 99% of players
-
bad idea, this would kill the game, why run any activity when you get can the drop once and then reroll for legendary shards and glimmer?
-
4 RepliesEdited by ExiIelegend: 2/4/2020 3:50:47 PMI think bringing back the re-roll mechanic would be a slightly better idea than this. Where you come from is understandable, but you also have to realize that if we could do that it will literally make the game have no reason or point to play. Adding this in because I didn’t clarify myself, I don’t support the re-roll mechanic unless the material cost is really discouraging. Ie like it costs five ascendant shards and five upgrade modules plus 50k glimmer. It’s expensive, but for those who play the game religiously it’s not much to lose and gives them a reason to keep farming ordeals.

2 RepliesNo. This game already severely lacks in replayability. Buying random rolls would leave almost nothing to grind for.
-
1 Reply>Bungie implements the idea The community: Bungie, the game is lacking meaningful content. This is your fault. Y u no entertain me. Why don’t you listen to us.
-
People can buy pretty much infinite random rolls now from sundial and they are complaining about it because it takes too long
-
3 RepliesA MORE VIABLE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM: Only the rolls you have already gotten to drop can be pulled back out, other (combinations of) perks are greyed out. E.G If you've rolled outlaw+rampage as your first bygones, those perks are select-able and you can pull that version of the weapon out even after deleting the gun... But not other combos like outlaw+kill-clip since kill-clip would be greyed out with outlaw selected until you had outlaw+kill-clip drop randomly. If you get every possible roll on that gun, you unlock all possible perk combinations on the collections weapon details page.
-
Umm no.
-
Edited by Freak: 2/5/2020 3:11:03 PMThat will never happen. Bungie isn’t going to let us off that hamster wheel grind. It would decrease play time for hundreds if not thousands of players and effect Bungie’s total Playtime Hours. But you can dream!! Good Luck!
-
Alternatively, once we get a weapon, let us pull the curated roll from collections for the usual 10 enhancement cores cost.
-
Started a new topic: Let us buy random rolls WE HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN from collections
-
Do you mean buy random rolls that we have already earned in game? Or as soon as we unlock a gun in game we can start buying random rolls of it rather than having to grind content over and over to get the roll we want?
-
It would destroy any loot based game
-
That has to be the laziest and least fun idea to ever be typed

5 RepliesWhat about this idea here: Crafting. This is how it would work Every weapon can be crafted. To craft a weapon you would need generic parts (like a frame, barrel, etc) that could be 2 or 3 part. Those parts would come from every dismantle of that type (hand canon, auto rifle, pulse rifle, etc). Some weapons could share some components (like scope for scout/sniper), etc. From that point, every single weapon would have a specific part. I'm not sure on how that would work, but the best i can come with is this part would depend on dismantling THAT specific weapon. Think of spare rations, you dismantle it, and besides the generic parts, you would get a "spare ration blueprint". It's a one time use only, and would require dismantling that specific weapon. With all of that, you could craft another spare rations. To prevent that system abuse, some things could be put in place: - High glimmer / Shards cost. Possibly a new material that drop in high difficulties. - Time gate for crafting the same weapon. Doesn't need to be days, but maybe hours, etc. Crafted weapons would be a different kind of rarity (orange), and when dismantled, don't return any material (at least not frame/unique materials). So basically, you still need to grind, but for every one you get, you can try a second drop without the grind. The crafting system can behave similar to the Menagerie, where you can pre select something about the roll. Either 1 perk, or the masterwork, etc. The system could also benefit from the weekend bonus that happen from time to time. EX: Double craft weekend.

1 ReplyI pointed it out in y1, and it's still true today: Collections, as it is right now, is the single biggest waste of hardware resources in the the game. If we can't pull random rolls, take it out of the game entirely and watch console performance skyrocket.
-
That is a terrible idea and I don’t think you’re capable of a logical thought.
-
2 RepliesI have a decent idea to try and satisfy more people. Masterworking a weapon will allow the option to "consume" the weapon for perks. Consuming the weapon will allow any masterwork version of the weapon access to those perks. Buying year two versions of the weapons from collections will give you a version of it with no perks (possibly a base sight) masterworking it will allow you to access all of the perks you've stored for that weapon.

They did a similar thing with Banshee in D1....think it was when HoW dropped. Basically you took any weapon that wasn't an exotic or a fixed roll...and you could constantly re-roll it. Cost Glimmer or Motes of Light. For both PvP and PvE it was glorious. Though it eliminated the need to play various activities and ''spoiled'' the community. It wrecked PvP, mainly do to Shot Package, Rangefinder, and some barrel for Shotties. Basically everyone had their own version of Felwinter's Lie. Also Snipers with Final Round and Armor Piercing....mainly Efrideet's. ArmorPiercing Rounds had the ability to go through walls, no matter the thickness...this included Ward of Dawns. They could implement the samething again...this time just increase the cost. Like Enhancement Cores or Prisms....that way you can still pull rolls out, but not spam it. To counter this they could increase drop rates across certain activities...to give incentives to keep doing activities. Would take some work, but it would give an actual reason for Collections to exist...other than just pulling Exotics and Vanilla Gear out.

2 RepliesI'm gonna say no to having random rolls on recollected items. If you can pull a Y2 or Y3 weapon from them, it should still have fixed perks (which I'm all for if that's what you actually meant). Otherwise you ruin the whole point of going out and grinding them when you can just spam the crap out of the reacquisition button until you get a good roll. You already see people doing this with sparrows and some ghost shells just to get those faster summon perks. A few grinds being a pain or an oversaturation of materials doesn't justify this. Former is often item specific (usually towards a pinnacle that's fixed either way), and the latter stems from a lack of a proper material sink unless you don't max out your discount at the Tribute Hall.
