So, canonically, is it possible for Guardians to go insane or have mental illnesses (autism, asperbergers, schizophrenia)?

5 RepliesHow do Exos eat/drink? Do they still have all internal organs since you technically only need a heart and brain to live? Do they even have a digestive system? Where do consumed nutrients go if not? Do Exos produce waste? Do Exos have bones and tendons and muscles? How do they command their bodies without them? Do Exos have blood/blood vessels to cary nutrients through their bodies? If Exos have a heart, what supplies it with oxygen and nutrients supposing the have no stomach and it seems rather difficult to transfer lungs to a mechanical frame without contamination? How do Exos see supposing their Eyes are mechanical and cannot be controlled by the brain? Do the Exo manufacturers still exist and how would the thing where you have to kill everyone you ever knew apply to a newly rezed Guardian who remembers nothing about their past life? Does your Ghost chose to reanimate you as the race you come back as (supposing we have no control over it). How are awoken created? Do Guardians carry out normal human functions like breathing or sleeping? Can Guardians tire of an activity (become physically exhausted)? Can Guardians develop physical disabilities or suffer from conditions like joint pain or experience fractures or dislocations in their bones? Is an Exo reanimated as an Exo or are we to assume the character became an Exo in their past life and died? Can a non-guardian become an Exo or would they die in the process and have to way to come back? Since you Ghost can heal you, can it heal other people/Guardians? Suppose a guardian dies along with it's ghost, can another Ghost who sees that dead Guardian fit to be a Guardian rez them again? How can Ghosts not be repaired unless they have a direct confrontation with the light (as seen in Spark mission)? Since the Traveler is back to normal(?) can it carry out functions as it was before like bringing life to the planets in our solar system? Can it create new Ghosts? How many Ghosts were created and what if we ran out? Does the Traveler need to heal to become fully operational? How does the Traveler heal? The traveler appears to be a ball of space magic encased in some stony material with a metal frame for protection/support, why must the space magic be contained in this sphere structure? How can a ball of space magic die? What exactly is the darkness? An anti-space-magic sort of suppression field that negates the magic powers of the Traveler? What if a Guardian directly contacts the darkness? Will they lose their powers? Die? Or conform to the darkness? Do the enemies we fight "work" for the darkness? Does a Guardian have a limit on the number of times it can be resurrected? If not, how can a small flying drone have enough power to infinitely resurrect a Guardian? Does it feed directly from the Traveler's light?

2 RepliesWould need to be non baseline psyche in the first place. What normal psyche would tolerate becoming immortal and the ability to resurrect from death repeatedly?

probably I doubt the traveler is offer health insurance to guardians greedy -blam!-

1 ReplyYes, there’s lore about Guardians suffering from madness and the old Risen from the Dark Ages are known to suffer from the effects of extreme stress https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/whether-windmills-or-cranes#book-ghost-stories

7 Repliesive seen a guardian kill themselves like 10 times on purpose

2 RepliesThey cured all that stuff years ago. :)

I don’t think so, ghosts are supposed to revive guardians who are physically and mentally capable to defend the last city and destroy the darkness. So it wouldn’t make sense for a ghost to revive someone with a mental illness
-
Absolutely, I don't see a reason why not.

1 ReplyWill If they are annoying like their real life handlers they all have FOMO

For people that think this game is actually "good" hell yeah they -blam!-ing can.

5 RepliesI think we all have a bit of mental illness for playing this game.

Have you seen some of the emotes?

Just look at all the cry baby posts on the forum and you have your answer 👍

I would say yes. Cayde was a gambler for example. My guardian is... she “visit” the fallen a lot in my head cannon. It’s her way to feel free from the wars.

Shadow has a mental illness, so I’d personally say yes

That pretty much sums everyone up here so that's a resounding yes.

1 Replyone of the lore tabs in the ghost stories book talks about a gaurdian who would treat inanimate objects like cranes and boulders as fierce adverseries and fight them. he eventually died and his ghost chose not to resurrect him because they knew he was mentally ill. i'm not big on the classifications but i think this is an example of schizophrenia or dementia, so yes, gaurdians can certainly have menal problems. i suppose ghosts can heal the brain, but not the mind.

Edited by Chey-Eliz-Mo: 2/3/2020 6:17:48 AMI know you’re talking about the characters in the game, but I relate to them as I am also a guardian who is on disability for PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Unknown or Unspecified cause of Comorbidity and/or Mortality. I’m pretty sure I’ve lived lots of lives and it drove me mad. I honestly believe that all of the lore is meant to wake us up and to give us an opportunity to realize that we are truly guardians in real life and our “ghost” has revived us innumerable times. It’s not just a game to me. It’s my only source of comfort and knowledge about many things that no one else even dares to bestow upon people. So the best and safest way to open people’s minds is through this game. But that’s just me and what I think. Sorry my mind is so divergent people often wonder how I connect one topic to another and it sounds like hieroglyphics are coming out of my lips and through my fingertips.

Few things can permanently physically affect a guardian but mentally they’re just like everyone else
