Before you type anything...I know changing hard drives or spending more money on a pro or yada yada can fix this issue. But I also know a multi million dollar franchise run by Bungie can fix this issue. They said they would work on load times, but as far as I can tell they just keep getting worse...

I have a SSD and it certainly helps with some loading times, but it does not help with these long, long times to get to the Tower...it's brutal right now.
-
We are getting to an almost unplayable game with some of these load times. Its starting to feel like a waste of time playing this game. Fortnight doesn't have these issues, neither does warframe, and warframe is pretty fast paced and graphic intensive.

Games ui is just trash and getting worse with each update

1 ReplyOn the plus side, I can nip down the shops whilst waiting to get to the the tower. Last week I even managed to do an 8 hour shift at work, and still got back in time before my guardian made the tower.

3 RepliesI have a 4tb external harddrive it didn’t fix sh!t

A large part is due to how they started throttling bandwidth a while back... stopped letting things spike up over 1mbps, but limit it closer to around 800kbps or so. Monitor the bandwidth when you queue an instance and you will see it kick in during that long black screen.

1 ReplyI transferred to pC a few months ago and have never looked back. The main problem is hoping your friends do it as well.

1 ReplyI can't even infuse a weapon or piece of armor "smoothly" for the last season or so. The process is choppy, laggy, and drops frames. This is with a STATIC image on the screen. Why is this a thing?

Just an fyi.. switching to the mid gen consoles do not help. You might see a tiny improvement, but purely based on your hardwares memory/speed.

9 Repliesbefore you type, you should do your homework. the PS4 ships with a 5400 rpm HDD. that is 1990's tech. it is painfully slow. i replaced my internal HDD with a SSD. the 1TB drive cost me $80. it was stupid easy to swap. it lowered all loading noticeably. no company had to do anything to their games, for me to see difference. there is only so much software can do with inferior hardware. why do you think one of two, of the major talking points, on both next gen consoles are load times? if it was a developer issue, it wouldn't be a talking point.

However, PS4's and XBoxes are essentially a closed systems, trapped in time with their base hardware specs and only the HDD being expandable. So as D2 grows, PS4's and XBox performances will will continue to degrade, even if Bungie optimizes D2 by removes seasonal content as events end. The only way to really fix performance issues is to throw newer hardware at D2 as its features and requirements expand. And this obviously isn't going to be easy for consoles without a PS5 and next gen xbox release. SSD's provide a good short term solution given how much better they work over mechanical HDD's, but those games texture files are freaking huge!

The HD is an issue. I replaced mine with an external 7200rpm drive. Not a huge difference but I wasn’t really expecting one. Change in HD was purely to increase storage space. Having switched to PC, load times are no longer an issue. PS4, when traveling to another planet, I had to to piss, smoke a cig AND grab a drink. When I came back, I’d STILL be flying around. On PC, I barely have time to get a drink before I land.

Edited by DriftedColt8917: 1/27/2020 5:00:40 PMI got a ssd and I notice the difference. Every strike I’m usually loaded and can’t actually move ahead because the other people are still loading. Usually have to wait 10-20s for everyone to load in. I know it’s the SSD because when I run strikes with my buddy who also has a ssd we are both zoned in way before the 3rd person. Sure as hell isnt myninternet speed seeing as I’m on 18mbs dsl

i have the external drive on ps4 pro and a great connection. load times are still slowed by other ppls lack of load speed.

Why should I the consumer have to foot the bill to fix this issue, when I have already spent hundreds probably close to a thousand dollars just to play this game and all expansions since year 1?

1 ReplyDestiny, the game where you need a credit card to play. SSD VPN SEASON PASS SCUF CONTROLLER INGAME PURCHASES CHARITY EVENTS 18 TIMES A YEAR BOMBARDMENT OF EMAILS FROM THE BUNGIE STORE INGAME TRIUMPHS THAT REWARD DISCOUNT CODES FOR SAID STORE Help I'm bleeding out over here.
-
SSD doesn't help much, there's only a very slight difference.

2 RepliesA few months ago I rearranged my setup so I could plug my PS4 directly into my modem. I switched from wifi to a direct LAN connection and it didn't fix the lag or slow loading times at all. It's 100% an issue with Bungies cheap servers and poor optimization. They are just lazy and cheap and cutting corners.
-
Bungie have already said that they are aware of the issue and are investigating and when they find the cause will be working on a fix. Note it must be a big issue as they have released patches in the past to fix this in part or as a whole but so far if anything worked it was temporary. So give Bungie the time they need.

2 RepliesThey can't. Hardware issue.
if you're gonna argue "but other games" don't reply I can't stand that blatant ignorance.

spoiler
6 RepliesI run a pretty powerful pc with high end ssd’s and NVMe and I can still suffer with ridiculous load times into strikes and the tower. I believe it’s a network issue.

Today I played D1 with friends and loading times are magnificent. Everything loads pretty fast
