I think the main problem is how the ammo is gained; both secondary and heavy ammo are too easy to obtain for the type of weapons they fuel. Secondary ammo drops just like primary ammo, and heavy ammo just spawns occasionally in fixed positions, players don't have to put any effort into earning the ammo. I think earning the ammo should be based on kill streaks in crucible, remove the ammo drops and ammo spawners, and just feed the ammo directly to the player for successfully killing enemies without dying. Primary ammo will still drop like normal, but perhaps it could also be gained by saving a teammate (killing an enemy who is attacking a teammate in critical).

5 RepliesEdited by Krantzstone: 1/27/2020 5:33:29 PMBungie already reduced special ammo, time and time again. It doesn't really work, and it sure didn't work in D1 either. Ultimately, restricting ammo won't make OP weapons less OP, and people will just find ways to get more ammo. It's not even that I'm against the idea, but I'd argue it's the one-hit-kill meta that breaks special weapons, not necessarily ammo availability: when special ammo weapons are so strong and virtually guarantee a kill (and thus more special ammo), even if you only gave people one special ammo per spawn, you'll still end up with too much because of how easy it is to get more if you use your special to get it. :P If Bungie want people using primary weapons, they'll have to either reduce the effectiveness of special weapons, and/or buff primaries. Case in point: my last match, where someone kept sniping me, so I started sniping right back. I'm not even good with snipers, yet I was casually headshotting them without even trying to aim my Bite of the Fox, and as far as I know, I wasn't wearing any sniper rifle perks on my armor. ;P Too easy to use for a one-hit-kill weapon. Of course, they drophacked me after I kept dancing after sniping them. ;P

Decrease reserve capacity by 50% and/or deactivate scavenger in pvp. Thats it.
-
Make ammo scav useless in pvp
-
-
How about no special ammo unless you get a kill with your primary weapon? 1 kill equals one round of special.
-
No it isn’t
-
I should be able to scoop special ammo if I don’t have a special weapon that way it disappears into the void. Hehe
-
I agree. I’ve played so many matches where people on the other team never or very rarely had to use their primary weapon. It’s called primary for a reason. While I don’t want to go back to D2 year 1 adjusting the amount of special ammo available in the crucible would help immensely.

Won't happen look at double primaries kds were in the shitter the 14 y/o estars that make up pvp at this point can't do anything but rely on destiny's ridiculous mobility and 10 meter shotguns it's why they cried endlessly because when handcannon/shotty wasn't the only option they literally couldn't function in pvp🤷🏼♂️

24 RepliesNo. The special ammo nerfs in D1 ruined pvp where the No Land Beyond- Wormwood sidearm became the game. If you really want the crucible to improve, I would recommend that auto rifles be buffed back to their original state. Why autos? For a while they could handle enemies going from close up to mid ranged with only the scouts and pulses being able to challenge them. But as with D1, the autos get nerfed into the dirt and the eventual downhill sludge of crucible occurs with special taking over.

11 RepliesBuff primaries up to house of wolves level.... 2 tap thorn ..... then you would hardly need special :)

It was time for this 5 years ago

Edited by GrifterDeMier01: 1/27/2020 4:34:45 AMThe way it should work is everyone should start the match with a tiny amount of heavy ammo. Like enough to get 2-3 kills. But that's the only heavy ammo you get for the whole match. Once it's used up that's it, that's all you get so make it count. Then for special ammo no one starts with any special ammo and the way you get it is like the way the heavy ammo is now. It will spawn every minute and you need to fight to get it. And when you die you don't drop ammo bricks at all or lose any kind of special or heavy ammo you currently have.

Something I like to do when people are over saturating special ammo weapons, I roll out a shotgun (perfect paradox, rapid fire frame, it was convenient) and just blow every round I pick up into the floor. Bringing balance to the force, 1 SA crate at a time.

Ok. In all seriousness, should Bungie decide to change the crucible in some way, what do we all think they should do? From what I see, EVERYBODY has a different opinion. One person likes one idea, another hates it. Can't please everyone. I for one am not particularly good at PvP in Destiny, so I'll just ride out the storm and play what is available. Yes, many things annoy the hell out of me, but it is what it is.

16 RepliesIt's time to greatly reduce crucible.
-
Everyone seeing a pattern yet? First you nerf primary weapons....This leads to a large increase in special weapon use......Then you buff something oh I don't know like sidearms.......Right before you start putting special ammo into crates....
-
Title says it all.
Special ammo isn’t a problem, so no need to nerf it. You’re playing D2 PvP not CSGO.

No thanks

13 RepliesNo. Not "greatly." Reduce the effectiveness of scavenger perks, sure.

11 RepliesIf you’re a potato now you’ll still be a potato if special ammo gets nerfed.

Na D2 year one was a special starved bore fest. They could do with making more primaries better though to compete against special a little better.

don't hold your breath while you wait suffocation is pretty unpleasant
