can these please count as melee kills for bounties, the arc ball melee and the top tree solar melee both don't count for any melee bounty forcing me into another tree for a bounty, this shouldn't be the case.
i don't know if this is the case for hunter throwing knife, smoke, or titan hammer but if so those need to count towards that too.

2 Repliesyes warlock melees hella wack

2 RepliesBut Bungie want you to play the way you want to, as long as its not warlock.

1 ReplyOnly if Hand held Super Nova is counted as a Super 🤣

Some hunter slid in with a shotty and I pistol/melee him while my melee was on charge so just a normal smack and I got the bounty. I’d rather them fix the Randy’s throwing knife bounty to say you need multi kill awards to progress.

Just watched a YouTube video on this subject and i think he mentioned you (fluffy). I really dont care, I’m a hunter, but i can see why you are ticked about this

3 RepliesArcstrider super kills (light attack) count as melee kills

13 RepliesEdited by McGurque: 2/2/2020 5:20:02 PMCannot confirm this 100% at the moment, however, in my experience, when the bounty says melee abilities, it basically just means melee kills. For example, let's say I'm on Top Tree Dawnblade. I use my ranged melee on a red bar enemy. Now I don't have a melee ability charge. I now proceed to use base melee (Warlock Palm Strike, i.e. a non-charged slap) to just melee kill enemies. Each non-charged kill counts toward bounty progress. Again, need to go and actually playtest this to confirm, but in my experience I believe this is what the bounty is asking for. All that said, ranged melee abilities should absolutley give progress. If I am correct though, this means you don't need to wait around for your melee ability energy to re-charge. You can simply smack some fools and go about your business. Edit: I have tested my theory in regards to two different bounties. One required "Melee Ability Kills" while the other required "Melee Damage". My theory proves true regarding these two types of bounties. This link shows video evidence: Armed with this knowledge, you can progress these bounties relatively quickly. Edit: finally had time to test the bounty in question. "Defeat enemies using Solar melee abilities." The original poster is correct, and this bounty cannot be done on Top Tree Dawnblade. Others have mentioned using a Sword Hilt to brute force the bounty. Hopefully Bungie addresses any issues surrounding ranged melee abilities, such as not being able to properly complete bounties, or more importantly having Celestial Fire, Ball Lightning, and any other affected abilities work with exotics, such as Winter's Guile.

2 RepliesSmoke only counts with initial damage, and throwing knife didn't count back in d1. The uppercut still doesn't count as a melee
-
1 ReplyOr...you could use an empty sword, that works too
-
10 RepliesWhile I don’t mind if they count, are they really melees or a quasi grenade kill?
-
5 RepliesExcept these arent "melee" attacks. Theyre thrown weapons which give you a -4 to your attack roll unless youve taken points in the appropriate skill.
-
They should also activate things like trench barrel and grave robber but sadly dont
-
10 RepliesThere's bounties for melee kills and melee ability kills - there's a difference
-
1 ReplyYes, please. I love the ranged melee but I hate how it doesn't count. What's sad is this, uncharged melees count. Lol.
-
Any kill with that button should be a melee. Like why?
-
I've made 2 posts about this issue and both were completely ignored. Like by everyone. Hopefully the right person sees this one https://youtu.be/rwoLkp-9Cfo

You sir get an upvote.

Yea it's annoying that Warlock charged melee that are ranged aren't melee kills for bounties.

1 ReplyBungie: “Hey, we have this great new Warlock melee ability. It doesn’t count for bounties though. HAVE FUN.”
-
1 ReplyAlso they don't work with Winter's Guile.

8 RepliesWhile I do agree with you on wanting it to count for the bounties... I just throw on a sword, empty the 'ammo' from it and then go 'hilt kill' enemies until the Melee bounty completes. I'm not sure if the Sword element needs to match the sub-class but I always match it for the bounty anyway. It's just an odd habit I have. It does suck when you have a Heavy Ammo Finder on the Helmet though and pick up Heavy during the kills.
